Integrated Microwave Technologies, LLC (IMT) Highlights RF Central GL Digital Fixed Link System at the 2012 NAB Show

Flexible, Long-Haul Hybrid IP Solution Ideal for ENG/OB Truck Applications

LAS VEGAS, APRIL 18, 2012 – Integrated Microwave Technologies, LLC (IMT), a Business Unit within the Vitec Group’s Videocom Division, and a leader in advanced digital microwave systems serving the Broadcast, Sports & Entertainment and MAG (Military, Aerospace & Government) markets, highlights its RF Central GL Digital Fixed Link System at the 2012 NAB Show (Booth C6432 and OE1569).

An extremely flexible, modular digital fixed-link system, the GL Fixed Link offers a remote RF head (to 23-GHz) and internal RF modules (to 14-GHz) for fixed-link (STL, TSL, ICR) applications. Using a wide and growing variety of modules, the mainframe can be configured to meet any application now and in the future.

“The GL Digital Fixed Link System is a flexible, long or short haul hybrid IP solution that is ideal for any point-to-point microwave application,” says Integrated Microwave Technologies Divisional Chief Executive Stephen Shpock. “It is an ideal backhaul solution for connecting central receiver sites as part of the transition to HD newsgathering or adding IP and ASI connectivity to a microwave backbone system.”

The heart of the GL Fixed Link, the UNM/3 third generation full duplex modem card, is configurable for single-carrier QAM or COFDM modulation, at data rates of up to 155 Mbps. It features two sets of independent ASI inputs and outputs as well as a gigabit Ethernet port. If a specific application demands more inputs and outputs, multiplexer cards are available. Using the UNM/3, a full duplex bidirectional microwave system can be built in a single 1RU mainframe. Each mainframe offers full remote control and monitoring of all parameters using the provided SNMP client or through a standard web browser.

GL Fixed Link systems are available in mainframe only or split configurations with an outdoor transmitter and receiver head. Because it uses low cost coax cable instead of waveguide, this feature reduces the overall system cost and maximizes the link budget.

Anton/Bauer to Provide Latest Power Solutions for NBC Olympics’ Production of the London Olympic Games

Anton/Bauer to Enable NBC Olympics with Batteries, Chargers and Support During Its Production of the London Olympics, July 27, 2012 – August 12, 2012

NEW YORK – APRIL 18, 2012 – Anton/Bauer will provide 24/7 access to products, repair, service and support to NBC Olympics, a division of the NBC Sports Group, for its production of the 2012 London Olympic Games from London, England July 27 – August 12, 2012. The announcement was made today by David Mazza, senior vice president, engineering, NBC Olympics, and Michael Accardi, president, Anton/Bauer.

“Over the last 20 years, Anton/Bauer has increasingly provided equipment and support for NBC Olympics’ production of the Olympic Games,” said Accardi. “We are so proud to once again be a part of the production team helping capture the once-in-a-lifetime moments of this year’s London Games for viewers at home.”

Anton/Bauer will equip NBC Olympic with DIONIC(r) HC and DIONIC HCX batteries. “This year we’ll have our lighter-weight batteries available on site for broadcasters, as they are apt for powering high-current applications,” said Joe Teodosio, manager, global customer support, Anton/Bauer. “The DIONIC HCX and DIONIC HC both feature the RealTime(r) display that indicates up to nine hours of run time (under low power-load conditions), ensuring high confidence when using the battery. Many of these events are over in a mere few seconds, so you don’t want to miss even one beat due to a power problem.”

Working closely with cell manufacturers, Anton/Bauer designed the HC series to incorporate high-capacity cells offering 10 amps. To continually ensure cell protection and performance integrity, a special honeycomb cell pack design protects the cells. DIONIC HCX users can carry up to two batteries per person per flight, while the DIONIC HC can be transported as carry-on luggage without restrictions (http://www.antonbauer.com/support/transportationinformation).

In addition to the plethora of batteries available on site, Anton/Bauer will also have its biggest chargers readily available-the TM4 and DUAL 2722. The TM4 is a four-position simultaneous fast charger designed to safely and reliably charge Anton/Bauer Logic series batteries with the fastest battery turnaround time while in the field. The modular design, utilizing four independent charging stations, gives the TM4 flexible charging options. The TM4 can also charge three batteries while simultaneously acting as a 70-W power supply.

Also ideal for those on the road, the DUAL 2722 PowerCharger is a compact two-position simultaneous fast charger. Equipped with an LCD readout, the PowerChargers series is capable of displaying critical battery information, including temperature, capacity, voltage cycles and more. The DUAL 2722 can also be switched to a 70-W power supply, allowing users to charge one battery and power a camera simultaneously.

In addition to providing gear, Anton/Bauer will be available in the International Broadcast Center (IBC), supplying NBC Olympics with on-call, 24/7 access to products, repair, service and support throughout the events.

“Anton/Bauer has been a valued partner, providing the latest battery and charging technologies, that keeps our ENG Crews in the field, shooting competition and Olympic participant interviews, which tell the stories of the Olympic Games. The Anton/Bauer support is also exceptional. Their technicians are always checking in with our crews to make sure the batteries and charging systems are performing up to their expectations. They are always ready to help solve any portable power requirements that may pop up during the 17 days of the Games.” said Chip Adams, vice president, venue engineering, NBC Olympics.

Clear-Com Introduces Tempest2400 Masterbelt at the 2012 NAB Show

All the Capabilities of the Tempest2400 BaseStation in a Compact and Portable Package

LAS VEGAS, APRIL 18, 2012 ─ Clear-Com, a global leader in critical voice communication systems, today announces the Tempest2400 MasterBelt digital wireless intercom at the 2012 NAB Show (Booth C8008). Ideal for mobile productions, the Tempest2400 MasterBelt offers all the advanced features, reliability and robustness of the Tempest2400 rack-mount BaseStation, including the new version 3.0 features, in a compact, portable and easy-to-deploy package that can be conveniently worn on the hip.

The Tempest2400 MasterBelt provides mobile broadcasters the ability to coordinate and communicate hands-free within the form of a Tempest2400 BeltStation. The MasterBelt can be paired with any standard Tempest2400 CP-222 two-channel BeltStation to create a full-featured two-channel system in the 2.4 GHz band. The MasterBelt itself also functions as a BeltStation allowing up to six full-duplex wireless users to be in communications.

Designed to be comfortable, rugged and robust, the MasterBelt Station and all Tempest BeltStations can operate in harsh weather conditions and are protected by a durable, weather-resistant ABS co-polymer blend with a high performance polyurethane overmold. The MasterBelt is provided with a rechargeable Li-Polymer battery capable of up to eight hours of operation or can be powered by three Standard AA Alkaline batteries as backup, providing four hours of operations.

“The Tempest2400 system has proven itself as the “go-to” communications solution for remote productions operating interference-free even when other wireless devices are in the same vicinity,” says Craig Frederickson, Clear-Com wireless product manager. “The MasterBelt is the latest development in the Tempest2400 line, giving broadcasters an even more flexible alternative for mobile productions, such as reality TV, sports sideline communications or ENG, where a stationary BaseStation is not desirable, feasible or optimal.”

Tempest2400 operates in 80MHz of spectrum in the 2.4GHz ISM frequency band. Tempest wireless systems will not interfere with traditional wireless microphone, IFB or in-ear monitor systems that operate in the UHF TV band. Because of Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum (FHSS) technology, the Tempest system does not compete with signals from other 2.4 GHz wireless devices, minimizing frequency coordination and enabling flawless performance. Further, with state-of-the-art Redundant Data Transmit (2xTX), which sends each packet of audio data twice on different frequencies, the system ensures uninterrupted audio communications.

Similar to all Tempest systems the Tempest MasterBelt offers three modes of operations: Normal, Shared and Split. Because the MasterBelt can also function as a BeltStation, up to six full-duplex wireless users can be in communication in Normal mode. In Shared mode, an unlimited number of wireless users can listen while five have PTT capability. In Split mode, four wireless users are full-duplex talk while an unlimited number may listen. The ‘fifth user slot’ is an unlimited single-channel shared between the users with momentary talk buttons only.
