MediaCom and DAT Provide Full HARMAN Upgrade To Luxury Radisson BLU Hotel In Tunisia

NORTHRIDGE, California – The five-star Radisson BLU Hotel, located in Tunisia, recently completed a full upgrade of their audio system to coincide with a comprehensive renovation. Local HARMAN distributor MediaCom SA designed a system including JBL, Crown, and BSS Audio components with the installation handled by local contractor, DAT. Situated on the resort island of Djerba, the luxury hotel’s upgrades include new bars, restaurants, conference rooms and a spa.

For sound reinforcement MediaCom SA chose JBL Control 24CT loudspeakers, the Control 19CS 8″ ceiling bass driver, as well as Control 25AV surface-mount speakers. Four of the conference rooms were equipped with the JBL Control 200 series, favoring the ultra-wide ceiling speaker coverage from the 6.5″ coaxial drivers. Control 226C’s, with integrated back can, were featured in the hotel’s conference room. Control 227C’s were deployed in the remaining rooms. The lobby, spa, and pool areas also utilized the Control 226C’s.

The JBL speakers were assigned to a combination of six Crown CTs 8200A and two Crown CTs 4200A amplifiers. This system was networked with HARMAN HiQnet System Architect(tm), which allowed the amplifiers to deliver comprehensive monitoring and control functionality along with digital audio transport. Additionally, all signal processing in the new areas of the hotel is handled by BSS Audio Soundweb London devices.

Commenting on the system MediaCom chairman, Ridha Ourzli stated, “This audio solution provides great ease of use for the technical staff, the hotel’s technical engineer can receive full system feedback and diagnostics on the networked audio system from his computer.”

Ourzli added that since DAT are regular customers of HARMAN brands, their familiarity with the systems made the integration straightforward. “The client is delighted, and extremely satisfied with the solution we have provided.”

StrandVision Announces Linux Digital Signage Player Optimized for Self-contained Playback – Enhanced Reliability

MENOMONIE, Wis. – April 24, 2012 – StrandVision Digital Signage today announced that it is offering a pre-configured Linux digital signage player appliance that ideally supports playback of digital signage content. The graphics-optimized unit is able to operate independently while automatically receiving content updates over the Internet.

The Intel dual-core processor SUSE Linux digital signage player, which includes 1GB of memory and Nvidia GeForce HD Graphics, as well as networking and VGA and HDMI display ports, is pre-configured by StrandVision for optimal performance and stability for years of service.

“The Linux Digital Signage Player is the best option for StrandVision customers,” said Mike Strand StrandVision founder and CEO. “We take care of the software installation/configuration and closely integrate the unit allowing our cloud services to manage the appliances so customers don’t have to worry about the initial configuration, ongoing maintenance, operating system versions or security. The small size and optional mounting bracket allows the unit to be hidden behind the display for an uncluttered installation.”

The StrandVision Linux Player includes a subset of the full digital signage playback software application that runs on StrandVision’s servers in the cloud. The Player includes its own database and Apache Web server so everything is self contained. The included Adobe Flash player only has to connect to itself for digital signage content (no network traffic) with StrandVision’s production servers in the cloud acting as backup and sending changes to content as needed.

The Linux digital signage appliance uses patented technology to poll the server cloud every minute to receive updates to digital signage content and send status and usage activity information. If the cloud cannot be reached the Linux appliance continues to play the full content loop and handles random and scheduled content properly. As a result, periodic breaks in Internet service of even up to a few hours are seldom noticeable. If the StrandVision cloud servers detect that a Linux appliance has stopped communicating with the server cloud for an hour, the system automatically sends an email alert to the customer’s technical contacts that are assigned to that particular location.

An additional benefit is that StrandVision’s cloud servers also have a lot more capability to solve issues automatically with the Linux players since the hardware and entire operating system is consistent and customized to operate within StrandVision’s cloud. The configuration also offers enhanced security and stability.

The Linux Player is offered in addition to standard downloadable StrandVision Digital Signage applications for Microsoft Windows and Apple Mac personal computers. The StrandVision Digital Signage Linux Player is available directly from StrandVision or through authorized StrandVision resellers and system integrators. It is priced at $799.99. Additional information on StrandVision Digital Signage Linux Players is available at: http://www.strandvision.com/linux_digital_signage_player_pc.html.

High impact customer engagement is set to rise to a whole new level of brilliance at next month’s American Institute of Architect’s annual conference in Washington, DC, when the leading façade engineering and design consulting firm Axis Façades International unveils a specially designed LED video wall as part of its trade show exhibit. According to Josh Byrd, Director of Marketing at NanoLumens®, the pioneering Norcross, Georgia based developer of the world’s first and only flexible LED displays, is creating a 9’ x 9’ 4.5mm pixel pitch seamless video wall that Axis Façades will use to showcase its portfolio of work to trade show attendees.

“This is exactly the kind of high impact, customer engaging environment that NanoLumens displays were designed to stand out in,” Byrd explained today. “We are very proud to be partnering with Axis Façades to showcase their award-winning projects.”

According to Byrd, the massive display will weigh only 383 pounds and is less than three-inches thick. Further emphasizing their commitment to eco-friendly technology, the NanoLumens displays are composed of up to 50% reclaimed materials, and are completely recyclable. Santa Monica’s Lotus Post Positions Itself for Success With HARMAN’s JBL ScreenArray(r) Loudspeakers and LSR Series Studio Monitors

LAS VEGAS, Nevada – Located in the heart of Santa Monica, California, Lotus Post offers a broad range of audio services for movies, TV and music recording. In its new 6,000-square-foot facility with six post-production studios and another in the works, Lotus Post relies on HARMAN’s JBL ScreenArray(r) cinema loudspeakers and LSR Series studio monitors for film projects including Outrun, The Fighter, Thor, plus TV projects for Fox, Discovery Channel and Speed TV.

“Our mission is to be the best independent audio post facility in Los Angeles and offer an environment that fosters quality and creativity,” said Michael Perricone, CEO of Lotus Post. “We handle a variety of projects from feature films to promos to surround music mixing, with budgets ranging from $10,000 to $10 million.”

JBL ScreenArray loudspeakers are created to provide extended frequency response, wide dynamic range and smooth, even coverage to every seat in a theater. JBL’s LSR Series studio monitors provide high-resolution near field monitoring and feature technology that ensures accuracy at the mix position in any room. The use of JBL studio monitors in conjunction with JBL ScreenArray gives Lotus Post room-to-room consistency for mixes that consistently translate perfectly to theaters and homes.

“Every room at Lotus Post is designed to take advantage of today’s audio technology to the maximum,” Perricone noted. “We have to have sound we can believe in. The quality of our mixes can only be as good as the quality of what we’re hearing-that’s why it’s crucial for us to have speakers that don’t cut corners sonically.”

“With our JBLs, I can believe what I’m hearing-there’s no coloration, nothing to make the sound more ‘exciting’ than it really is,” Perricone added. “JBL ScreenArray loudspeakers are used in movie theaters all over the world, and what we hear in Stage One is what we know people are going to hear when they go to the movies.”

“A friend of mine had a pair of JBL LSR studio monitors and I heard them a few years ago and liked them very much,” Perricone added. “When we started Lotus Post at our original space in 2009, we took over a facility that already had JBL ScreenArray loudspeakers in two of the rooms. After working with these speakers and getting such consistently good results, we decided to equip every room with JBL systems when we moved Lotus Post to our new facility in Santa Monica.”

“The great thing about the LSR Series monitors,” Perricone concluded, “is that they do the same thing-the same quality of sound we hear in our post-production rooms translates to the big theaters. Also, thanks to their RMC Room Mode Correction, I can go from room to room in our facility and know that I’m going to hear absolutely consistent sound, with no surprises.”

Lotus Post has outfitted six of its rooms-Stages One through Six-with a range of models from the LSR6300 Series studio monitor line, plus JBL ScreenArray and cinema surround speakers in Stage One (Lotus Post’s “Big Room”) and cinema surround speakers in Stage Two.

Mitsubishi Announces 4K Industry-Grade Display

Mitsubishi Electric Committed to 4K-Resolution with New 56P-QF65LCU LCD Industrial-Grade Display

IRVINE, Calif., April 24, 2012 — Mitsubishi Electric Visual Solutions America, Inc. continues its commitment to 4K resolution with its new 56P-QF65LCU monitor. This LCD display offers QFHD (quadruple full high-definition) resolution with an unsurpassed 3840 x 2160 pixels, which means that more than eight megapixels are displayed on one 56-inch screen—an enormous amount of crystal clear visual content on one device.

“While some manufacturers have cut 4K from their product lines, Mitsubishi is committed to this necessary resolution,” said Matt Krstulja, national sales manager, Mitsubishi Electric Visual Solutions America, Inc. “There are many applications, particularly in industrial, health and physical sciences, which need this type of super-high resolution. Mitsubishi Electric is here to meet that need.”

The 56P-QF65LCU monitor is specifically designed for small group collaboration; the 4K super high-definition resolution makes it ideally suited for environments that may have limited real estate or in intimate settings where people must analyze dense amounts of data. These include applications in science, engineering, financial services, mapping, satellite imagery, utilities, government, armed forces and law enforcement.

Mitsubishi’s 56P-QF65LCU allows one person to observe a wide range of data on one screen. The new QFHD monitor condenses information from a tiled display wall used in electric plants, government and armed forces facilities, police situation rooms, financial control rooms and other environments, sending them to one source for quick and accurate viewing on a single LCD panel. Managers can streamline and supervise operations at one location on one screen for quick and efficient observation and monitoring.

The 56P-QF65LCU LCD monitor uses a Super MVA LCD featuring 3840 x 2160 pixels with a 50,000 hour back-light lifetime, and has two brightness modes for installation flexibility: power-saving normal (480 watts) and bright (540 watts).

Sending information to this display requires only a computer or display wall processor capable of four 1080p output channels.

A standard VESA Mounting Structure is included to allow the monitor to be easily installed on a wall or ceiling. With a wide viewing angle of 176° +/- horizontally and vertically, the 56P-QF65LCU LCD monitor can be clearly viewed from virtually any seating position.

Mitsubishi’s 56P-QF65LCU is available through authorized Mitsubishi Electric dealers and systems integrators. The monitor comes with Mitsubishi Electric’s two-year limited warranty on parts and labor. Terms and conditions apply.

Stampede Helps Chile’s Lumina Motion Create Massive One-Of-A-Kind 3D Video Mapping Experience For Launch Of Nokia Lumia 800 Smartphone

Proving once again that it has unbeatable product selection and extensive knowledge of the ProAV market, Stampede Presentation Products, Inc. recently helped Lumina Motion construct a stunning 10,000 square foot video display on the facade of a round building in Santiago, Chile by providing the ideal equipment and precise development insight needed.

The audiovisual team at Lumina Motion was tasked with creating an exciting and memorable product launch for Nokia’s new Lumia 800 smartphone, and they succeeded by working with Stampede to utilize the best technology, share industry know-how and ensure patient attention to every technical detail.

According to Lumina Motion Owner Gonzalo de la Barra, “We at Lumina Motion know that when you’re producing a live event, everything has to be perfect. Stampede knows this too, which is why they recommended the eight Christie Full HD projectors and Geffen Fiber Optic cables to produce over 10,000 square feet of HD video display with precision timing between all eight projectors. We don’t have the luxury of second chances, so having a reliable and knowledgeable equipment provider is important, and Stampede helps us deliver the first time, every time.

“With the help of Stampede’s knowledgeable sales staff and incredible selection of gear, we are consistently able to deliver beyond our clients’ expectations. Stampede actually helps us better understand this rapidly evolving market by sending us the latest product info, making recommendations, providing quotes quickly and delivering products in record time. We always want to get the best deal, and they are always very helpful regarding purchasing decisions and meeting our price expectations.”

Indeed, the project proved a phenomenal success. The Lumina Motion staff executed this highly complex 3D video mapping project with surgical precision after countless hours of testing. They painstakingly blended the 8 video signals together by hand with geometrical correction, covered the building’s glass façade with a special adhesive to make it a viable projection surface, guaranteed accurate power and data relay and timing, and accounted for all variables including ambient light and local construction.

“Our presence in Latin, Central and South America is nearly as strong as our presence in North America,” said Stampede CEO Mark Wilkins. “And our ability to provide informed engineering, design and tactical assistance on projects like this is second to none. We’re proud to have been able to work so closely with such a skilled audiovisual experience provider as Lumina Motion, and we look forward to playing a major role in their long term success.”

The 3D mapping projection setup included eight Christie DHD800 FULL HD projectors connected through Geffen’s HDTV DVI-D Fiber Optic Cables for maximum image quality, reliability and precision timing. Kramer Digital Switchers were utilized for video signal backup.

According to Mario Riveros, Territory Manager — International Sales at Stampede, “The Stampede team has all the knowledge and tools necessary to help our partners make the right purchasing decisions and ensure success on every job. We work hard to keep them informed of new technologies that can impact their business, and then help create the perfect product configurations to meet their clients’ needs. By developing close relationships with our partners, we are able to respond quickly and effectively to all requests and we strive to provide solutions that are timely, cost effective and most importantly, the ideal solution for each particular job.”
