ABS Helps KMVT-TV Update Control Room with Ross Gear

SEATAC, WA — Professional video and audio systems integration firm ABS (Advanced Broadcast Solutions) today announced that KMVT-TV, the CBS affiliate serving Twin Falls, Idaho (DMA #191), has updated its control room with a Ross Carbonite production switcher, XPression CG, and BlackStorm playout server. The gear was purchased through ABS in March and was the final step of the station’s migration to local HD news production.

According to Chris Pruitt, KMVT general manager, the new switcher and CG replaced a 20-year-old Grass Valley switcher and aging Pinnacle Deko and Scala graphics systems. Prior to the new server, video packages were played to air through an NLE system. KMVT chief engineer Shawn Butler installed the new equipment, which went live on April 9.

“We are more than pleased with the entire system,” said Pruitt. “ABS was extremely helpful as they evaluated our needs, understood our goals, and then recommended the gear that would accomplish our goals while staying within budget.”

RTI’s New Cool Power(R) Amplifiers Now Shipping

Four-Channel CP-450 and 16-Channel CP-1650 Amplifiers Provide the Extra Power Needed in Large Installations

SHAKOPEE, Minn. — April 30, 2012 — Remote Technologies Incorporated (RTI) today announced that the company is now shipping its new four-channel CP-450 and 16-channel CP-1650 audio amplifiers. Designed as the perfect complements to RTI’s eight-zone AD-8 distributed audio system, these powerful new amplifiers provide an additional 50 W per channel to extend speaker outputs in larger installations.

“Our AD-8 distributed audio system provides 25 W per channel, which is ideal for most installations, but larger rooms and subzones might require more speakers and more power,” said Pete Baker, vice president of sales and marketing for RTI. “We are pleased to offer our dealers a powerful, cost-effective solution to this installation issue with our new CP-450 and CP-1650 amplifiers.”

For optimal performance, the CP-450 and CP-1650 feature the same Cool Power(R) technology used by the AD-8′s built-in class D amplifier. In addition, the feature-packed CP-1650 offers audio input level adjustment on each channel, unique loop-in/loop-out connections for simple daisy chaining, and bridgeable audio outputs for increased power to a whopping 100 W.

For added flexibility, the CP-450 and CP-1650 amplifiers are suitable for rack-mount or freestanding installations. Convenient power control from different sources is made possible with voltage trigger, RS-232, and IR power control options. For situations that require more than one amplifier, voltage trigger and IR pass-through allow for control of an additional unit.

The CP-450 and CP-1650 are now available at MSRPs of $699 and $1,499, respectively.

PRISM SOUND OPENS A NEW EUROPEAN SALES AND DISTRIBUTION OFFICE IN GERMANY

Prism Sound, manufacturer of premium-quality test and measurement instruments, audio interfaces and processors and for the recording and broadcast markets, has opened a European Sales and Distribution office in Munich, Germany.

Operating under the Prism Media Products Ltd banner and covering the territories of Germany, Austria and Switzerland, the new office will handle all Prism Sound test and measurement, music recording and production products including the dScope Series III audio test instrument, ADA-8XR multichannel converters and the Orpheus FireWire interface.

Bernard Nocker, formerly Sales Manager for Prism Sound products at DIME Medientechnik GmbH, has been appointed to head the Munich office.

He says: “I am delighted to have the opportunity to develop Prism Sound’s business in these territories. Audio is my passion and I have hands-on experience of using Prism Sound’s products, which makes it much easier to explain their features and benefits to potential customers. I also believe that this new arrangement will allow me to concentrate on developing much closer relationships with existing customers and explore new markets for Prism Sound, particularly in the test and measurement arena.”

The new structure will enable Prism Sound to more effectively develop resellers and representatives in the German-speaking market and the company is now actively seeking retailer partnerships for its music recording and production products, as well as closer relationships with industrial test system integrators and supply chain companies.

Graham Boswell, Sales Director for Prism Sound, says: “In 2011, Prism Sound’s sustained export performance won the company the prestigious UK Queens Award for Enterprise in the International Trade category. The German speaking market was a significant factor in winning this award and has been important to the company for 20 years, having first been developed by FFD GmbH in the early 1990’s. More recently distribution has been handled by DIME Medientechnik GmbH and the business has grown considerably over the period.

“Our decision to open the Munich office was based on a desire to conduct closer relationships with our key customers and to be more responsive to local market conditions. The change will bring immediate benefits to our customers in Germany, Austria and Switzerland in the form of a new Euro price structure. Former inter-company pricing has been replaced with a simpler structure and, despite the recent gains in the GBP/EUR rate, the new Euro pricing will be slightly lower than previously.”

Prism Sound and DIME have agreed a swift and amicable handover, with DIME now completing only specific orders already in hand. All new orders will be handled directly by Prism Sound. Warranty and service for all products formerly sold by DIME or by its predecessor SDI will be handled directly by Prism Sound through the Munich office.

Sales of Prism Sound’s SADiE product line continue to be handled by For-Tune GmbH. The new arrangements in Germany will mean closer co-operation between the two companies and offer a range of new marketing opportunities for the SADiE and Prism Sound brands.

Bernhard Nocker can be contacted at Tel: +49 176 27927901. Email: Bernhard.Nocker@prismsound.com. Prism Sound’s Munich office is located at Trappentreustr. 5, 80339 München, Germany.

BenQ’s Next-Generation LX60ST and LW61ST Education Projectors Now Shipping in Canada

Units Feature Mercury-Free Blue Core Light Engine for 20,000 Hours of Lamp-Less Operation and Ultra-High 80,000:1 Contrast Ratio

TORONTO — May 1, 2012 — BenQ Canada Corp. today announced that the first short-throw education projectors to feature the company’s cutting-edge, mercury-free blue core light engine are now available in Canada: the LX60ST and LW61ST. Designed to offer stunning visual performance and color accuracy with an ultra-high 80,000:1 contrast ratio, the blue core light engine utilizes a laser light source rather than a traditional mercury lamp. The result is up to 20,000 hours of reliable brightness, complete elimination of lamp replacement costs, and a 90-percent reduction in light source power consumption. In addition, BenQ’s blue core light engine-driven SmartEco Advanced(TM) technology optimizes the units’ light source systems to deliver exceptional brightness, longer life, and high-energy efficiency.

“For educators, the LX60ST and LW61ST blue core light engine projectors drastically reduce costs while offering unrivalled performance with their ultra-high contrast ratio,” said Mike Booker, Vice President of Sales at BenQ Canada Corp. “With the blue core light engine, users will never have to replace a lamp for the entire life of the product. Furthermore, there are no filters to change so schools simply need to install the projector and never touch it again for the life of the product.”

The units feature instant on/off to save time on warm up and cool down, in addition to manual brightness level adjustment to accommodate different classroom environments. To generate the best image contrast, the projectors’ “SmartEco Advanced” mode automatically determines the optimal brightness level based on the input source, while a “no source detected” mode automatically lowers brightness to 10 percent when no display has been detected for more than three minutes. With “eco blank” mode, teachers can blank out the LX60ST and LW61ST’s screens when not in use to redirect students’ focus, while lowering light source power consumption to only 10 percent.

The BenQ blue core light engine classroom projectors offer 2,000 ANSI lumen brightness, XGA/WXGA resolution, and 0.6/0.49 short-throw projection. The units feature two 10-W built-in speakers and microphone input, less than 0.5-W standby power, Apple(R) iPhone(R)/iPad(R) wireless display support, LAN display, USB display, and 360-degree tilted projection. The LX60ST and LW61ST are backed by a three-year parts and labor warranty.

More information about the BenQ LX60ST and LW61ST is available at www.BenQ.ca.
