The dual voice coil design gives installers and homeowners new options for adding great sound in small spaces such as bathrooms, narrow hallways or even a walk-in closets. Once both voice coils are connected, the stereo signal is summed into a single mono stereo full range output.

“This is a perfect in-ceiling speaker for tight spaces but there’s a lot more to the ACE690TT,� notes Tim Leahy, General Manager and Product Specialist at OSD Audio. “Dual tweeters double the dispersion pattern of the high frequencies, plus we added a 4 or 8 ohm switch so the speaker can be converted to a single mono speaker and combined with a second ACEMK690TT so users have the option of having a stereo pair of speakers where only one of the voice coils is connected on each speaker.� Leahy points out that this setup will dramatically increase coverage because the dual tweeters are active in both the single summed mono stereo speaker application or when used as a stereo pair and in both cases provides a broader dispersion pattern of high frequencies versus a speaker or speakers featuring a single tweeter.
