AptoVision announces licensable technology for audio-video extension over fiber-optic cabling
Saint-Laurent, Quebec, Canada – June 6th, 2012 – AptoVision, a Montreal-based technology company, today announced its BlueRiver™ 100 technology. Available as licensable IP with reference designs for turnkey manufacturing, the BlueRiver 100 enables a plug & play, point-to-point, fiber-optic extender or link for extending hi-definition video, audio, IR, Ethernet and RS-232 signals over standard fiber-optic cabling.
Incorporating AptoVision’s BlueRiver Engine, ACR and Channel Coder technology, the BlueRiver 100 delivers world class performance and reliability using off-the-shelf, inexpensive components. The resulting bill of materials (BOM) is a fraction of the cost of products using custom fiber-optic transceivers typically used for AV extension. AptoVision’s unique licensing model and reliance on off-the-shelf components allows customers to maintain full control over manufacturing, production quality and supply chain. A compatible data I/O interface with HDBaseT™/Valens™ architectures allows ease of integration into existing Cat-x product designs to enable fiber support with minimum effort.
AptoVision technology is available to OEMs of signal distribution equipment allowing them to manufacture directly from AptoVision’s reference designs or for integration into their own signal distribution products such as AV transmitters, receivers, distribution amplifiers and matrix routers.
BlueRiver Engine: AptoVision’s proprietary AV signal distribution and processing engine implemented on an FPGA for cost effective fiber-optic transmission.
Adaptive Clock Resynchronization (ACR) Technology: Unique technology that allows synchronous, zero-frame latency transmission of video over low-cost, off-the-shelf networking optics.
BlueRiver Channel Coder: A highly efficient channel coder that combines and streams multiple signal types onto a single fiber-optic channel.
