Sony And Stampede Make Bold Move To Drive Market Adoption Of Affordable HD Quality Video Conferencing

Moving decisively to expand the market for affordably priced HD quality video conferencing solutions, Stampede Presentation Products Inc. Finally, the Sony PCS-XL55 All-in-One HD Desktop Codec has been reduced in price 33% from $5,999 to $3,999.

“Dealers can immediately begin to benefit from these new list prices,” Murphy said today. “We expect that this new pricing program will have a huge impact on sales in both the education and SMB channels. Educators, in particular, are now making critically important purchase decisions for the start of the new school year in September and we wanted to be ahead of that decision-making curve with this new program.”

Hitachi Introduces CP-AW2519N Ultra Short Throw Interactive Projector

LAS VEGAS, Nevada, June 13, 2012 – At InfoComm 2012, Hitachi America, Ltd., Digital Media Division, Business Solutions Group today introduced the CP-AW2519N Interactive Projector, featuring Hitachi’s proprietary StarBoard Software, which works on Mac and PC platforms. The CP-AW2519N Interactive Projector has all the functionality of an interactive whiteboard built into it, eliminating the need for additional hardware.

The new CP-AW2519N offers easy setup even in rooms where space is limited, with an ultra-short-throw lens that enables it to be mounted close to a wall or projection surface. This prevents obstructed images and shadows, with no light shining in the presenter’s eyes. The CP-AW2519N also comes with a stand to project the image onto a tabletop surface.

For better performance, the CP-AW2519N communicates via IR and Ultrasonic technologies. This increases reliability and eliminates lag time from pen to projection for a more natural writing experience.

The CP-AW2519N Interactive Projector features a simple menu system that provides easy access to many functions. The CP-AW2519N’s Input Source Naming feature, a Hitachi exclusive, lets the user customize the names of input sources if desired. The projector’s remote offers My Memory, My Screen and My Buttons options for fast access to frequently used functions and sources. The CP-AW2519N is designed for easy maintenance, with a hybrid air/fan filter that allows less frequent cleaning (4,000 hours between maintenance), and an easy access lamp compartment.

Hitachi’s exclusive Perfect Fit 2 image adjustment system enables the user to adjust individual corners and sides independently of one another. Perfect Fit 2 provides vertical and horizontal digital correction of either barrel or pin cushion distortions. This feature helps correct geometric and complicated distortions. Perfect Fit 2 allows the projected image to fit correctly to the screen quickly and easily.

The CP-AW2519N offers 2,500 ANSI lumens brightness, WXGA resolution and a throw distance of 10 inches from the edge of the projector for an 80-inch (16:10) diagonal image. The CP-AW2519N also has an RJ-45 Ethernet jack for connection to a local area network (LAN), providing the ability to network, control and maintain the projector from a remote location. A built-in speaker and 10-watt amplifier eliminate the need to connect external speakers. The CP-AW2519N also features an HDMI input.

Xantech, the industry-leading manufacturer and marketer of IR and IP connectivity solutions, will debut its vision for the ‘Classroom Of The Future’ at INFOCOMM 2012 in Booth #C8725 of the Las Vegas Convention Center. Xantech will feature a demo room that shows how educators can use the latest technology to create a collaborative, immersive multimedia teaching environment by utilizing Xantech’s SPLCD64 touch panel and XLIP800 controller.

According to Xantech Senior Project Manager Thu Le, “In an education system that will soon be dominated by the proliferation of e-textbooks and digital devices, school districts are increasingly looking to implement simple, efficient systems that allow educators to monitor progress and leverage digital interface devices to increase students’ productivity and maximize learning potential. It’s our belief that using multimedia and having the ability to conference with professionals and subject matter experts from around the world will lead to a new age of education, enabling learning in an interactive and personal way that has never been possible before.

“It’s clear,” Le continued, ”that the success of our educators can be aided by modern technologies, and many school districts are beginning to recognize that in the long term, this can even represent a cost savings over physical textbooks that must be bought every few years. The classroom we are unveiling at INFOCOMM gives educators a simple way to view each student’s digital device and interact on a very individual level, which results in a more personal learning environment for students. We created this prototype ‘Classroom of the Future’ to show how this can be done easily and cost-effectively.”

Using Xantech’s XLIP800, teachers can now connect up to 32 PCs or tablets to a central system where they can monitor each individual student’s screen or a combination of screens, allowing them to teach and interact digitally with individual students or the whole class. The educator’s view can be presented on a computer monitor, flat screen TV or projection system. This way, the educator can personally compare and contrast work being done on each device or share the video streams with the entire classroom.

Xantech’s INFOCOMM ‘Classroom of the Future’ demo room will feature several iPads connected to Xantech’s XLIP800 controller and SPLCD64 touch screen, a TV One video switcher and a large screen LCD TV to display the educator’s view to attendees. One of the most important aspects of any classroom system is that it be easy for the installer to program and customize, easy for educators to operate and require no maintenance. With the ability to log in to the Xantech system remotely, the installer can make any required adjustments without the need to visit the classroom.
