New GefenTV Extender for HDMI Offers Cost-Effective Pricing for Shorter Runs using HDBaseT Technology
Digital connectivity solutions provider Gefen today announced the shipping of its new HDBaseT Extender for HDMI over CAT-5 cable, priced under $500 (US). It delivers HDMI at full resolution 1080p full HD without any compression up to 230 feet (70m) in distance.
“In exchange for a slightly shorter range of extension, you can save some money on signal extension while retaining a very high quality HDMI delivery,” explained Hagai Gefen, president and CEO, Gefen. “The shorter range GefenTV Extender for HDMI over CAT-5 provides a viable alternative to other longer distance, more expensive extension solutions.”
One CAT-5 cable is used to send HDMI along with multi-channel audio including DTS-Master Audio and Dolby TrueHD. 3DTV content is supported when combined with a 3D-ready source and display. The GefenTV Extender for HDMI uses compact desktop or wall mountable sender and receiver units. It comes with mounting plates and locking power supplies to assist with an easy installation.
