IBC Stand 11.F40

GEMINI TARGETS SPORTS AND OTHER HARD-TO-REACH EVENTS

Staines, UK • Shotoku Broadcast Systems, a well-established leader in camera support and virtual reality tracking, will present its new Gemini Pan Bar Control System (PBCS) to the European market at IBC 2012 in Hall 11, Stand 11.F40. Gemini, aimed at sports and special event productions where cameras need to be and cameramen cannot go, offers uncompromised and easy operation for hard-to-reach sites. Shotoku will also showcase its popular TR-T touch control system and the SPI-Touch unique positional calibration method for Virtual Studios, and have its full line of robotic and VR sensor Pan/Tilt heads, control systems and pedestals at show.

NEW
Gemini Pan Bar Control System (PBCS)
Gemini brings together two of Shotoku’s most advanced products from the Robotics and Manual VR Tracking ranges to provide a remote pan & tilt head so perfectly synchronized with the manual head that they truly act as one. Camera operators can work without compromise, in comfort and safety, wherever the camera needs to be.

Immediate control over the tracking speed, direction, range and ratio is provided at the touch of a button so any event can be captured close-up or telephoto, at low or high speed. Dedicated hardware tracking and a simple RS422 interconnection makes setup quick and easy and ensures highly reliable operation, time after time. The Gemini system can even support multiple remote heads, so a single operator may seamlessly switch between cameras to give any viewpoint on the action.

Any Shotoku remote head can be used to suit the payload and required location while the manufacturer’s SH series manual VR tracking head provides exceptional tracking resolution under all conditions. Dual pan bars, adjustable balance and an easy-fix monitor support platform make the system comfortable to use over extended periods.

Gemini systems were in high demand by high-profile venues for use at major international sporting events during summer 2012.

HIGHLIGHTS
TR-T Touch Control System
Shotoku’s latest version of its successful TR-T touch control system offers an enhanced system operation to meet demands of larger, complex facility-wide installations as well as smaller systems. The flexible TR-T system enables any control system in any location to easily and rapidly re-configure control of cameras and studios in other physical locations. Automated functions allow precise control over shot recall, with minimal intervention, enabling an operator to truly multi-task, without losing any on-air flexibility.

SPi-Touch
SPi-Touch offers a totally new way of positional calibration for Virtual Studios. Simply designate two different points through SPI-Touch’s viewfinder and press the button at each of the points. The camera position will be instantly calibrated. SPI-Touch eliminates the need to mark the studio floor and move the pedestal making calibration easy and fast.

D.A.S. AUDIO DEPLOYED AT METRO SOUTH CHURCH IN DETROIT AREA

*** Metro South Church sanctuary ***

Taylor, Michigan – August 2012 … As a non-denominational independent Christian church located in the southern suburbs of greater Detroit, Metro South Church is a vibrant, growing organization that caters to more than 1,500 people during their four Weekend Experiences. Recognizing the importance of delivering their message in a clear and appealing manner, church management recently elected to install a robust sound reinforcement system. After careful evaluation, the decision was made to deploy a new loudspeaker setup drawn from the Aero Series 2 catalog of Valencia, Spain-based D.A.S. Audio.

GC Pro, the outside sales division of Guitar Center that focuses on the requirements of professional users, was contracted to design and install Metro South Church’s new sound system. GC Pro Account Manager Paul Johnson, working in conjunction with Guitar Center Sales Associate Paul Long and D.A.S. Audio Regional Sales Manager Steve Trimble, oversaw the project. FOR-A Unveils Multi-Matrix Color Corrector; Ideal for Live Sports and Post Production

Fort Lee, N.J.– FOR-A Corporation of America, a leading manufacturer of video and audio systems for the broadcast and professional video industries, is unveiling the DCC-7000—a new real-time, multi-matrix color corrector—ideal for live sports and post production applications. As the live HD/SD-SDI signal passes through the DCC-7000, this product performs real-time adjustment, enhancement, and color correction of up to 12 separate colors and hues in the video.

FOR-A has always been known as a leader in color correction, but the DCC-7000 brings its technical capabilities to a new level. While its predecessor, the DCC-70HS, was limited to the primary colors red-green-blue (RGB), the DCC-7000 offers 12-axis color correction, which includes RGB, saturation, and hue. It supports HDTV and SDTV standards, with 10-bit, 4:2:2 digital signal processing. Standards it supports include: 1080/59.94i, 1080/50i, 1080/24PsF, 1080/23.98PsF, 720/59.94p, 720/50p, 525/60 (NTSC), and 625/50 (PAL).

“This is a whole new class of color corrector from FOR-A,” said Pedro Silvestre, Sales Director, FOR-A America. “With the DCC-7000, live event producers now have an accurate way to adjust the colors and hues of live video from low-cost HD cameras that don’t have internal camera control units. These less expensive HD cameras are often placed on racetracks, goal posts, basketball nets, and other precarious locations to capture the action from exciting vantage points.

“The DCC-7000 can process these HD camera signals so that they match those of higher-end cameras. This ensures that all cameras present the same true colors of logos, uniforms, signage, and other image branding—which is critical to sponsors,” Silvestre said. “And this color correction gives the whole show a unified look.”

The DCC-7000 is a standalone unit, and it is available with the front panel control or with an external control panel for more accurate control.

“Considering its affordable price and real-time performance, it will also appeal to post production professionals as well as to those producing live television,” added Silvestre.

The DCC-7000 will be available for delivery next month.
