Stampede Helps Integrator Create Perfect Chuck Jones Experience At Circus Circus Resort in Las Vegas

When tasked with designing and building a massive digital art exhibit at the Circus Circus Resort in Las Vegas to celebrate the life of legendary animator Chuck Jones, Matt Seibert of Matt Seibert Designs knew that Stampede, the leading distributor of ProAV products, would know the best product solution for the job and have the equipment at the best price. After conferring with his Stampede rep, Seibert confirmed that BrightSign’s media players would be the most affordable, most reliable, and simplest solution for the digital showcase.

According to Stampede President & COO Kevin Kelly, “Our reputation depends on providing the best advice, most extensive inventory and superior ProAV knowledge to every dealer, and Matt Seibert’s work on The Chuck Jones Experience is one more shining example of how we help dealers make every installation perfect. BrightSign is a valued partner and we work hard to ensure that our partners’ products get into the hands of as many ProAV dealers as possible.”

Jeff Hastings, CEO of BrightSign, echoed Kelly’s comments, saying, “Stampede has been a valuable business partner, making it possible for ProAV dealers all across the country to get the best BrightSign products quickly and just when they need them. The sales teams and reps know our products well, so dealers can trust their recommendations and advice. We sell more product when the dealers get what they need, when and where they need it.”

The Chuck Jones Experience utilizes more than 20 BrightSign media players, distributed in multiple zones throughout the 10,000 square foot facility and providing content for TVs, projectors and even touchscreens. Visitors are greeted at the entrance with screens looping informational content about the exhibit. Inside the hall, one wall features a dramatic installation that includes 15 LG LCD TVs ranging from 22 to 32 inches that are capable of displaying separate content or tiling together to showcase integrated content that spans the entire wall. The exhibit has interactive elements as well, allowing visitors to draw and color their own cartoons on three big screen NEC touchscreens. A Christie projection system with Pioneer surround sound shows full length cartoons from throughout Jones’s career.

Speaking about the exhibit, Matt Seibert, president of Matt Seibert Designs said, “Jones left an indelible mark on the world of animation, and we felt an obligation to create a fitting tribute to his legacy. This required that we create a unique digital experience that informs and entertains. BrightSign’s media players were instrumental in making that happen. I simply wouldn’t attempt an installation with this level of complexity without the help of my distributor, Stampede, and the simple yet powerful BrightSign equipment. In fact, Stampede provided all of the major equipment, including all of the NEC and LG displays, Christie projectors and Pioneer sound systems throughout the exhibit.

“My Stampede rep confirmed that BrightSign’s players would be the perfect solution for this job and was invaluable in helping to choose displays and other components. Not only are BrightSign’s players easy to implement, they are also more affordable than anything else on the market today. When I’m planning a high-profile exhibit such as The Chuck Jones Experience, I often speak with the AV pros at Stampede to determine the ideal equipment to use, and their recommendation of the BrightSign players gave me the rock-solid performance I needed.”

One of the exhibit’s most insightful attractions is a replica of Jones’s office complete with two 50” LG LCD TVs recessed in the wall and framed to look like a real window. The TVs show a presentation highlighting some of Jones’s most iconic animated creations.

The BrightSign players are made to such a high standard and are so durable that they weren’t even fazed when a 14-inch water main burst on the floor above and flooded the entire exhibit with four inches of water; the players were still playing when maintenance came in to plug the leak!

At Summer Client Event WorldStage Shows Off Adult Beverage Skills As Well As Technical Chops

When WorldStage hosted its Annual Summer Client Event the company made use of the extensive creative and technical capabilities it normally reserves for customers. Billed as a sophisticated evening of food and cocktails with a media exhibition, the event at the Metropolitan Pavilion introduced the new WorldStage brand for Scharff Weisberg and Video Applications, Inc. and showcased the company’s latest equipment acquisitions in a very unique way.

The event space, bathed in blue and purple light and exuding a cool vibe that contrasted with the hot summer night outside, featured a portrait-mode display of Barco C5 LED tiles, 3D projection mapping, a fun custom interactive “emotion controller” and an exciting menu of molecular gastronomy, where food science met culinary artistry.

“While we’ve done one or two technology-based events every year, this one was more about celebrating our clients and the designers who support them,” says WorldStage president Josh Weisberg. “The celebration included incredible, sophisticated food and cocktails as well as great music. Of course, we had to include at least a little new technology, so we showed off our new Barco C5 LED video tiles plus a beautiful projection mapping piece and an interactive emotion controller. It was great to see our clients and staff interacting at the party and having a fun time.”

“The evening was all about new ideas, new technology, new food – and the new WorldStage,” says WorldStage design director Shelly Sabel who designed the party with Josh Weisberg. “Metropolitan Pavilion, where we have been the in-house AV company for many years, is an awesome event space, and we concentrated on giving it a new look, too.”

She gave the room a dark, sexy, club look creating an environment where guests felt comfortable hanging out, listening to music and just having fun. “Since we’re a media company we made a deliberate choice not to hide anything,” she says. “We didn’t screen off any of the gear with curtains. We let guests get up close and personal with the equipment looking at the beautiful back of the Barco LED tiles and the wonderful lighting fixtures. It was all about being able to touch things.”

The party also featured video content submitted by a number of media designers that work with WorldStage. The media exhibition included some stunning conventional flat-screen video as well as a projection mapped piece submitted by Integrated Visions .

One of the technical highlights was the new super-sharp Barco C5 5.5mm pixel pitch, black-face indoor LED display that displayed stunning graphical content from a number of clients and designers. Just for fun, a custom interactive “emotion controller” changed the color palette and textures of projections as guests moved a slider to the words “jealousy,” “lust,” “envy,” “bliss” and “grunge” as fit their moods. The interactive touchscreen from PQ Labs controlled the new “particle generation” feature included in the latest Coolux Pandoras Box media server.

WorldStage also showed off its latest lighting fixtures, including wireless Astera LED PARs, Martin Mac Aura LEDs, VARI*LITE VLX LEDs, Clay Paky Sharpys, and Color Force LED strip lights, which illuminated the DJ booth.

Sabel collaborated with Sterling Affair Caterers on the molecular gastronomy menu whose creative presentations included pina colada floating islands glowing under black light and dry-ice smoke; translucent olive oil chips against a black light background; and grilled vegetable and mozzarella brochettes presented beneath glass votives filled with rosemary smoke.

A Jello mold champion – yes, there are Jello mold competitions – Sabel prepared her own special glow-in-the-dark Jello for guests.

“Sterling gave us so many menu options,” Sabel reports. “They were as excited about the party as we were and were just delightful to work with.”

Sabel notes that “Josh (Weisberg) wanted the party to be an appreciation of our clients on a midweek night during a very hot summer. People in this business work hard and play hard. This event was playful and fun with really, really good food!”

WorldStage Inc., the company created by the merger of Scharff Weisberg Inc and Video Applications Inc, continues a thirty-year legacy of providing clients the widest variety of entertainment technology coupled with conscientious and imaginative engineering services. WorldStage provides audio, video and lighting equipment and services to the event, theatrical, broadcast and brand experience markets nationally and internationally.

“We used WATCHOUT to synchronize 20,000 lumens projectors from Christie Digital using two 7 by 5 meter screens that were positioned to the sides of the stage. Three more 10,000 lumens projectors, also from Christie Digital, were used to project images on to 10 by 3 meter sized curved screen at the center of the stage. Here, Big Video utilized WATCHOUT’s geometrical correction feature to achieve a seamless image,” explains Diana Velilla at Big Video.

The opening of the international forum was presented to a packed audience across all three screens, creating a breathtaking animated opening, which gave an impressive welcome to all assistants, speakers and a short introduction to their presentations.

“The events were recorded using three Sony EX3 professional broadcast camera signals and the presenters multiple computer presentations were fed through an HD-SDI FOR-A switcher to Blackmagic video capture cards installed on the WATCHOUT display computers.

“The versatility of the WATCHOUT software allowed us to combine these live video signals with graphics, logos, credits and last minute add-ons on to the screens.”

Summing up the event, Velilla says: “The event coincides with the celebration of Big Video’s 20 years of service in supplying expert support and equipment to the corporate and live events rental market. Omagica supplies Dataton WATCHOUT for car launches

Dataton WATCHOUT™ multi-image display and presentation software was provided by Dataton Premium Partner, Omagica to Bolivia-based projection specialists Vinilo Lab for use in Bogota and Medellin city launches of the new Renault Mégane III family car.
