AVnu Alliance Co-Sponsors Ethernet & IP Automotive Technology Day

Beaverton, Ore., September 17, 2012AVnu Alliance, an industry forum dedicated to certifying interoperable Audio Video Bridging (AVB) products, is proud to be a co-sponsor of the Ethernet & IP Automotive Technology Day taking place September 19-20 in Regensburg, Germany.

A featured speaker at the event, AVnu Alliance President Rick Kreifeldt will present “AVnu – Supporting the Automotive Industry for AVB Networking” at noon on Thursday, September 20. AVnu Alliance is also exhibiting at the event, which provides a forum for all parties developing “Automotive Ethernet” to understand the latest state of the technology and the future role that Ethernet will play in automotive. More than 400 participants are registered to attend and to hear from key industry players that include BMW, Daimler, Volkswagen, General Motors, and Ford.  AVnu members will be present at the AVnu exhibit to demonstrate the benefits of AVB for automotive and provide additional information on the Alliance.

AVnu Alliance continues to expand its presence in the automotive industry, with a growing list of AVnu Alliance member companies representing the full ecosystem of automotive technology, including OEMs, equipment manufacturers, middleware and silicon suppliers. AVnu has both requirements and technical working groups for automotive compliance and interoperability. Member companies have full access to these test plans and AVnu supplied test tools as well as the opportunity to participate in plugfests.

“A converged Ethernet backbone is needed for the ever-increasing cross-domain communication needs between active safety devices, infotainment, engine control, and other car systems. Interoperable devices using the Ethernet-based AVB standard with AVnu certification will enable the automotive market to capitalize on new opportunities,” said Kreifeldt, who is also VP of Research & Innovation, Corporate Technology Group at HARMAN. “We are very excited about the rising activity for AVB and AVnu in automotive.”
