San Diego, CA (September 24, 2012) - VUE Audiotechnik today announced the completion of its U.S. representative network with the appointment of seven additional firms covering the Midwest, Southeast and Northeast regions.

This news comes just two weeks after the company announced the appointment of three firms covering the Western U.S., and is further evidence that VUE leadership is moving swiftly to meet escalating demand with a robust sales and support network.

Launched in March, VUE Audiotechnik has gained significant momentum thanks in part to a nation-wide demo tour that kicked off in early August. Incorporating the complete VUE Audiotechnik loudspeaker lineup, the VUE demo tour has touched down in more than 20 cities to date, generating significant interest and resulting in a recently announced extension of the tour through the end of October.

“I’m extremely excited to be joining such a dynamic, up-and-coming brand,” reported Larry Meyer of Meyer Marketing, whose first official duty was to support the VUE demo tour as it passed through Florida earlier this month. “I’ve been doing this for a very long time, and I can’t recall when a company has generated so much attention, and a product line has been so well received.”

Meyer Marketing, Pro Media Marketing, PixAural, Inc., Marketing Concepts, NFS Communications, D. Dalzell & Company, and Lienau AV Associates, Inc. join three previously announced firms to complete VUE’s U.S. representation. Each firm can be reached in its respective territory via the contact information provided below, or by visiting the rep contact page on the VUE’s website.

Soularity Sound Upgrades To 5.1 With HARMAN’s JBL LSR4300 Series Studio Monitors

NORTHRIDGE, California – Providing cutting-edge post-production audio services for the thriving independent film industry in Austin, Texas, Korey Pereira, Owner and Lead Engineer of Soularity Sound, recently upgraded to 5.1 surround sound production capability with HARMAN’s JBL LSR4300 Series studio monitors.

When Pereira decided to equip the Soularity Sound studio with 5.1, he needed a monitor system that would enable his mixes to accurately translate to the theatrical screen. “While there were several other solutions on the market, I decided the best setup for me was five JBL LSR4326P monitors and an LSR4312SP subwoofer,” Pereira said.

Pereira’s recent credits include Incendiary: The Willingham Case, a feature documentary that was screened at the South by Southwest Festival and went on to a limited US theatrical release. Currently, Pereira is working on The Ascendant, a short science fiction film with an abundance of visual effects and impactful sound cues.

“Even in my small space, to monitor the dynamic range of a dramatic film soundtrack, I need to have enough headroom from my monitors so that I don’t have to worry about the speakers, especially the subwoofer, distorting,” Pereira noted. “With a short-term max SPL of 112 dB for the LSR4326P and 125 dB for the LSR4312SP, I know I have ample power for even the most dynamic mixes.”

The LSR4300 System’s built-in RMC Room Mode Correction coupled with the Control Center Software allows Pereira to tune the speakers precisely to his room. “I have four presets for the space,” he said. “I measured the room from both the mix position and a couch, and stored a preset for these positions calibrated to both theatrical and broadcast specs. I can pull up the Control Center Software and choose where I want to focus the sweet spot.”

“For anyone doing multichannel mixing in a small-to-medium sized room, the LSR4300 Series Monitors are the perfect way to go,” Pereira concluded.

Clovis High School Taps Technomad Turnkey PA System For Friday Night Football

BOSTON, September 24, 2012 – A Clovis, New Mexico high school is bringing more energy to its 1,500-seat outdoor campus stadium on Friday nights with a new Technomad Turnkey PA system. The Technomad system provides an all-in-one audio solution to enhance quality and coverage for all home football games, including pre-show and halftime music.

The school needed a system that would produce clear and even sound across the stadium, including visitor and home stands. The Turnkey PA system comprises four Technomad Berlin weatherproof loudspeakers, a pre-wired amplifier, a dynamic hard-wired microphone, and a six-channel mixer with front-panel iPod/mp3 inputs. The solution included all necessary cables and connectors to facilitate a quick and simple installation just in time for the 2012 football season.

The new setup replaced outdated loudspeakers damaged by time and weather. Technomad loudspeakers feature IP56-rated weatherproof designs immune to weather-related elements, allowing them to remain outdoors all year — a huge plus for Natalie Roseberry, partner and technician at Wes-Tex Audio Electronics.

“Clovis High School’s old system was pretty much useless,” said Roseberry, who performed the installation. “Some of the speakers delivered very little sound, while others were completely broken and generated no sound at all. It was clear they needed a system overhaul. We have installed Technomad loudspeakers at high school stadiums in the past, and they can remain outdoors, protected from rain, wind, and snow. You never have to worry about damage. This is just another reason we keep coming back to Technomad.”

The entire setup was flawless and took only two days, according to Roseberry. She and her team installed Technomad yoke mounts on top of the home side of the press box, and installed the amplifier and mixer in an existing equipment rack mounted in the press box. She later fastened the four Berlin loudspeakers onto the yoke mounts, facing them outward toward the field and visiting bleachers to maximize coverage.

“It was all very simple,” said Roseberry. “The flexibility of the yoke mounts allowed us to tilt the loudspeakers in this desired direction so we could ensure smooth, even audio coverage across the entire stadium.”

Roseberry followed with a series of tests that included voice intelligibility and high-volume musical reproduction. According to Roseberry, the Berlin’s unmatched combination of high volume output, broad dispersion and remarkable fidelity made it the obvious choice for the stadium’s large spectator capacity.

“I walked across the field during the tests and could not believe how crisp and sharp the audio sounded from both the CD player and the iPod,” she said. “I could hear all the instruments and a clear vocal track, which I have never heard before from speakers at a football field. The microphone was crisp, clear, and sharp sounding as well.”

Roseberry experimented further, connecting her iPhone to the Technomad system via its auxiliary port — adding that nearby maintenance staff commented on how well the system sounded.

“We’re continually impressed with their functionality,” said Roseberry. “Today’s youth expects the same great sound quality as their iPods and mp3 players. Not only does Technomad deliver on this, it allows for the easy hookup of all these devices. And the clarity of the music still comes through as intelligible and crisp.”

DPA CHOSEN FOR INTIMATE BALLET EXPERIENCE

To mark her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s Diamond Jubilee, the English National Ballet recently completed a series of 14 sell-out performances at the new 500-seat Theatre at The Concourse Performing Arts Centre in Sydney, Australia.

To achieve a natural effect where the music did not sound over amplified, the venue’s sound designer and production engineer, Owen Ironside, chose a selection of DPA microphones to capture the Willoughby Symphony Orchestra’s performance.

“The Theatre is a very intimate space and my goal was to make the mix as transparent as possible and merely bring the orchestra image out of the pit, sonically speaking, without it sounding like the PA was even on,” Ironside explains. “In total there were 29 musicians situated in the open pit, beneath the stage. To achieve the results I wanted I opted to mic each section with DPA microphones, with the addition of a solo DPA mic on 1st violin, as opposed to a traditional Decca Tree approach.”

On Ironside’s recommendation, the Concourse Arts Centre invested in 12 DPA 2011C Twin Diaphragm directional microphones, which were supplied by DPA’s Australian distributor Amber Technologies.

“I used directional microphones because the orchestra was situated directly under the PA,” Ironside says. “To mic the venue’s Steinway piano I used the directional DPA d:vote™ 4099P instrument microphone set mounted inside the piano with magnet holders, making it almost invisible. This was a last minute addition chosen for aesthetic reasons when the director decided to move the piano on and off stage during the performance. I also used DPA Reference Standard 4015A wide cardioid microphones for harp and timpani in order to minimise proximity effect. The harp sounded quite boomy before amplification so I certainly didn’t want to accentuate this. The wide cardioids’ wide pickup pattern also suited the harp and timpani’s wide radiation, while for the single double bass I used a d:vote 4099B instrument microphone. This allowed me to close mic and gave me maximum control within the mix.”

The combination of Owen Ironside’s attention to detail and the superb audio quality of the DPA microphones won much praise from the audience, performers, musicians and venue staff.

Gavin Sutherland, Music Director and Conductor for English National Ballet, says: “I was extremely impressed with the sound engineering for the Willoughby Symphony pit orchestra in the Theatre at The Concourse. The sound emanating from this moderately sized pit of 29 players, out front (in the auditorium) has a fulsomeness, richness and clarity worthy of some of the larger pit orchestras in Europe. A great natural sounding result was achieved.”

Following the success of the English National Ballet performance, the Concourse Arts Centre has increased its stock of DPA microphones by investing in 10 d:fine headset microphones, which it is using for musical theatre productions, and is also considering investing in different capsules for its Reference Series microphones to use during recording in its Concert Hall.
