PROFESSIONAL WIRELESS SYSTEMS RF SPECTRUM MANAGEMENT GROOVES TO THE BEAT AT FIRST ANNUAL PREMIOS TU MUNDO

Expert Frequency Coordination Keeps Telemundo’s Awards Celebration Interference Free

MIAMI, SEPTEMBER 25, 2012—When Telemundo kicked off its inaugural Premios Tu Mundo awards show, Professional Wireless Systems (PWS), a Masque Sound Company and experts in supplying and supporting wireless systems for live and broadcast events, was on hand at the Fillmore at Jackie Gleason Theatre in Miami Beach, providing frequency coordination and services for the Spanish-language network’s first-annual awards gala and red carpet show.

Presented by Telemundo, Premios Tu Mundo (Your World Awards) is a celebration of pop culture and a musical spectacular combining the power of television, Web, mobile and social media platforms to give fans the final say in what’s hot in everything that moves and inspires them, including telenovelas, music, fashion, movies and sports.

For the Premios Tu Mundo broadcast, PWS provided Shure Axient™ and UHF-R wireless microphone systems, BTR-800 wireless intercoms and Comtek IFB systems. PWS worked in conjunction with Baltimore-based East Shore Sound, which handled the wired intercorm and IFBs for the telecast . For the red carpet telecast prior to the main show, PWS provided Shure UHF-R® wireless microphone systems, BTR-800 wireless intercoms and Lectrosonics IFBs.

The Shure Axient wireless management network is a comprehensive, innovative and fail-safe system. With its advanced planning, setup and control capabilities, it is an extremely reliable product, especially in the heavily populated Miami television environment. “Anytime you do a show in Miami, there are a lot of local television stations that you have to deal with, so frequency coordination is a major challenge—especially during red carpet events,” says Brooks Schroeder, project manager, PWS. “Our expertise and the services we are able to provide, along with the gear we select, allow us to find, isolate and minimize any potential problems that may arise.”

During the festivities, three experts from PWS were on site, monitoring the RF spectrum to ensure the show ran smoothly without interference issues.

Video Mount Products Low-Profile DVR-LB3 DVR Lockbox Now Shipping

STEVENSVILLE, Md., Sept. 25, 2012 — Video Mount Products (videomount.com), a leading provider of mounting solutions for the commercial, CI, residential, security, and pro audio/video markets, is proud to announce the that the new, low-profile DVR-LB3 DVR Lockbox is now shipping. The DVR-LB3 has an MSRP of $236.95.

“The DVR-LB3 is the next in our series of DVR lockboxes, following our popular DVR-LB1 and DVR-LB2 lockboxes,” explained Keith Fulmer, president of Video Mount Products. “The DVR-LB3 features all the security benefits of the others in the series, but its low-profile makes it perfect for today’s smaller DVRs and for installations restricted to limited space requirements.”

Due to the smaller, more compact chassis where heat issues may arise, VMP has included a single fan, as well as a mounting location for a second fan should additional thermal management be required. Multiple vents with vent blockers for active or passive thermal management have also been incorporated.

Additional features of the VMP DVR-LB23 lockbox include:
• Interior dimensions: 17.2in W x 21in D x 5in H
• Rack mountable on two or four posts with a three RU overall height
• Interlocking lift-off lid
• Key-locked hinged front door
• Black static resistant powder coat finish

According to Fulmer, high-end electronics have become a staple in today’s security, CI, residential, and commercial marketplaces. As these expensive technologies and equipment, including DVRs, find homes in more and more commercial and professional settings, additional security measures need to be taken to insure these electronics are not harmed or stolen without compromising remote control accessibility.

“Our DVR-LB3 is the next generation DVR lockbox, built upon the principle of creating peace of mind for those who require DVRs be installed in settings that may be prone to theft or vandalism, but at the same time allowing for the flexibility of a smaller housing solution,” Fulmer concluded.

Christie, a world leader in advanced cinema technologies, is proud to again sponsor the Vancouver International Film Festival, for which Christie will provide digital cinema projectors from its Christie Solaria Series, as well as Cine-IPM 2K image processors. The festival, one of North America’s leading cinema events, is bringing hundreds of new films to the city September 27 to October 14.

“It is only through the support of Christie that we are able to maintain the standards of excellence that filmmakers expect and deserve,” said Alan Franey, Festival Director & CEO, Vancouver International Film Festival.

The projectors and equipment, to be installed and managed by Christie partner Zoom Audio Visual Networks, will ensure that festivalgoers enjoy their cinematic selections in the crisp colors, brilliant image quality and 3D possibilities available only through state-of-the-art digital projection.

“Christie’s technology and support have made it possible to transform many of the Festival’s screens to digital,” said Michael Stewart, president of Zoom. “Their exceptional image quality and expert service help make the festival a big success for exhibitors and patrons alike.”

Dave Muscat, Christie’s senior director of sales for Canada added that, “Our participation in major film festivals is part of our commitment to the Canadian and international film industries. Our network of highly skilled and dedicated integration partners helps us make it happen, and Zoom’s work on VIFF is indicative of that commitment.”

In terms of admissions and number of films screened (about 150,000 attendees and almost 380 films), VIFF is among the five largest film festivals in North America. The international lineup includes selections from the world’s top film festivals as well as numerous titles from smaller studios and providers. VIFF screens the largest selection of East Asian films outside of that region, is one of the biggest showcases of Canadian film in the world (with 80 Canadian titles this year alone being screened) and includes a large and significant non-fiction program.

Kathryn Cress, vice president, global and corporate marketing at Christie, notes that Christie’s digital solutions are helping festivals as well as the industry in general with the transition to digital projection. “Christie’s state-of-the-art projection technologies and skilled business partners make our firm the preferred choice for film festivals across the globe. And the arrangement with the Vancouver festival has a strong Canadian component, as Christie is the only provider of high-performance digital cinema projectors with its main engineering and major manufacturing site located in Kitchener, Ontario.”

Christie digital projectors are used by leading film festivals around the globe, including the Toronto International Film Festival. This year, Christie renewed its official technical sponsorship of the Festival de Cannes for the next three years, a position it has held since 2006. In addition, Christie was the exclusive projection sponsor of the “Water for Elephants” screening at the opening gala of the 14th Shanghai International Film Festival last year. This year, Christie’s DLP Cinema 4K resolution projector platform will support screenings at the 56th BFI London Film Festival October 10 to 21 with 2K projectors from Christie’s Solaria Series also being used by cinemas supporting the festival.

Christie equipment is found in more than half of all DLP Cinema® projection rooms – about 33,000 projectors – installed worldwide and utilizing a global network of skilled installation and support partners, Christie serves exhibitors of all sizes with products and services that provide the best cinema experience for exhibitors and their guests.

Christie’s Commitment to HFR
The two main goals of Christie’s HFR activities are to help the industry develop the best high frame rate (HFR) content and the best delivery system for HFR content. The first goal involves assisting leading-edge filmmakers and post-production companies in perfecting HFR movie creation, so the industry has the most engaging, entertaining content possible. The second goal is to assist exhibitors in showing these 3D HFR movies in all their glory. To these ends, Christie is helping create the standards for 3D HFR movies through the formal and informal technology-development alliances with major producers and directors, post-production facilities, studios and technology partners. Custom EQ Inside the Amplifier with Pro Audio Technology Programmable Modular Amplifiers (PMA)

An intuitive user interface with new predefined and parametric filters simplifies complex system calibration with the PMAs.

Huntington Beach, CA – September 25, 2012 – Pro Audio Technology (PRO), leader in professional-grade loudspeaker and digital amplifier technology, today announced enhancements to its Programmable Modular Amplifier (PMA) multichannel amplifier/processors. A complete family of new DSP filters for system acoustic optimization is now available via the PMA Control Panel™ interface – an enhancement to PRO’s PMA Manager™ amplifier control software.

Using PMA Manager Software, an installer can configure PMA amp/processors for all PRO loudspeaker systems via a single mouse-click by simply selecting the loudspeaker model from a list. The user is then able to optimize performance of the system in-situ via easy-to-use drop down menus of predefined filter selections identified using plain English – no knowledge of engineering terminology or advanced acoustical principles is required. These features greatly simplify the system setup process and reduce system calibration time.

Up to four predefined acoustic filters are available, per channel.

Examples of the predefined filters include:

• Perforated projection screen high-frequency compensation, selectable by screen brand and model
• Acoustic fabric high frequency compensation
• Acoustic boundary loading compensation
• Bass response contouring to fine-tune boundary compensation
• Treble response contouring to fine tune screen and fabric compensation
• High and low pass filters for deployment of distributed audio subwoofer/satellite systems

In lieu of the predefined filters, advanced installers can make use of up to eight customizable parametric filters – per channel – plus delay and gain adjustments to fine tune low-frequency in-room audio performance. Designed for subwoofer optimization, all the tools required to tame room-related standing wave modes are available right in the amplifier and are implemented via PMA Manager Software.

In addition to the full-set of customizable and predefined filters, PMA Manager features a built-in pink noise signal to aid in diagnosis of system wiring and design issues, and provides signal routing within the PMA amplifier making the deployment of complex, multi-way, multi-speaker installations simple and efficient.

“Installers don’t want to deploy stand-alone, multi-channel audio processors that add noise and use hard-to-understand terminology to get the best performance from their client’s systems,” said Paul Hales, Pro Audio Technology founder. “They are expensive, and needlessly complicate system wiring schemes. Our PMA amplifier/processors allow full optimization of audio systems right inside the amplifiers themselves. And best of all, PMA Manager™ with PMA Control Panel™, makes the process point-and-click easy.”

Pro Audio Technology’s Programmable Modular Amplifier is a 2U, four-channel design employing installer-programmable DSP with system calibration capabilities. PMA amplifier/processors are available in multiple configurations of 200, 450, or 1000 watts per channel. With high resolution DSP filtering, and proprietary PMA Manager Software, PMA amplifier/processors provide an intelligent, easy way to carry out complicated calibrations with minimal added cost and effort.
