Hitachi to Show High-Performance SK-HD1200 1080P and Cost-Effective Z-HD5000 Studio/Field HD Production Cameras at 2012 CCW

WOODBURY, NEW YORK – Hitachi Kokusai Electric America, Ltd. will spotlight its state-of-the-art HDTV studio/field production cameras in booth #1143 at the 2012 Content and Communications World (CCW) Expo taking place November 14-15, 2012 at the Javits Center, in New York, NY.

“CCW offers an excellent opportunity for us to meet with media decision makers and content creators, including HD producers, videographers, and network executives, and acquaint them with our new top-of-the-line HDTV cameras,” said Sean Moran, vice president of sales for Hitachi Kokusai Electric America, Ltd, Broadcast & Professional Division. “We’re looking forward to demonstrating how our HDTV cameras can benefit even the most demanding HD productions by capturing breathtaking images very cost-effectively.”

At this prominent NY media industry show, Hitachi will feature its new SK-HD1200, a 3Gbps, native 1080/60p HDTV studio/field color portable camera first introduced at the 2012 NAB convention. This top-of-the-line HDTV camera captures outstanding 1,100 TVL resolution images by virtue of its three 2/3-inch RGB 2.3 million pixel UAIT (Ultra-Advanced) 1080-line progressive CCDs. This multi-format camera’s advanced 38-bit digital signal processing results in low-noise, high dynamic range pictures with an HD-SDI output applicable to any broadcast or post production standard.

Besides transparent signal transmission and camera power via SMPTE-311M hybrid optical fiber cable, this dockable 2-piece camera system is flexible in its configuration and control. The Hitachi CU-1200 camera control unit (CCU) can be addressed and controlled via the TCP/IP camera control network, and an optical routing system can connect multiple camera heads to any number of CCUs. Also, since one CCU can control two camera heads, this feature makes the camera ideal for stereo 3D HD production.

“Our SK-HD1200, as well as our popular, affordable Z-HD5000 studio/field portable camera, will be set-up in a typical studio configuration and outfitted with high-end HDTV lenses so visitors can see their imaging capabilities first-hand,” Moran continued. “With our varied and feature-rich line, we have HD cameras to fit every production need and budget.”

The Hitachi Z-HD5000, an affordable studio/field HDTV camera system, has become very popular due to its appealing price performance. This broadcast-quality HDTV camera features 900 TV-lines of resolution, F10 standard sensitivity, and low noise 2/3-inch IT-CCDs. The lightweight, 2-piece dockable camera body can be configured with adapters for either digital optical fiber cable transmission or a Hitachi-patented fully digital triax system.

Hitachi will also show HDTV Point-of-View box cameras that are well suited for a variety of HD production and outdoor remote observation applications. This series includes the DK-H100 and the DK-Z50 1080/60i multi-standard HDTV cameras.

The DK-H100 and DK-Z50 will be shown in conjunction with the Eagle PT-E350 pan-tilt head, which supports pan/tilt/zoom of cameras up to 50 pounds. The PT-E350 has a pan range of 355 degrees and tilt range of 180 degrees, memorizes up to 64 preset combinations of position and lens settings, and can be remote controlled. Designed for outdoor use in inclement weather, the Eagle PTE-350 satisfies a wide range of HDTV applications, including remote traffic monitoring, remote newsgathering for broadcast television, HD production, and entertainment venues.

Listen Technologies Steps Up At Walk4Hearing™

For the third year in a row Listen Technologies picked the Hearing Loss Association of America and its Walk4Hearing as a charity to support as part of AV Week.

(October 15, 2012) Bluffdale, Utah, USA — Listen Technologies Corporation announced that the third annual Salt Lake City Walk4Hearing raised $19,000 to support the Hearing Loss Association of America (HLAA).

The Walk4Hearing is one of HLAA’s programs to support people with hearing loss. It serves to raise awareness about hearing loss, helps to eradicate the stigma associated with it, and raises funds to provide information and support for people with hearing loss. Since 2006, the Walk4Hearing has raised over $2 million and has become the largest series of walks for hearing loss in America.

Every spring and fall thousands of walkers form teams and walk in their communities to raise money for programs and services for people with hearing loss and to increase public awareness. Listen Technologies organized the Listen Trek Team to participate in the walk and raise money in support of the Walk4Hearing.

The foreboding rain withheld and a festive and inspiring atmosphere took over the day’s activities. Over 300 people came out to Sugarhouse Park on Saturday, October 13 to support those with hearing loss and help raise funds to bring awareness to this invisible yet rampant situation. 17% or 36 million people in the United States alone experience some degree of hearing loss. “With this kind of prevalence the reality is that we all know or will soon know someone with hearing loss, noted Kristin Rector, Listen Trek Team Captain.

The Listen Trek Team raised just over $3,000 through combined efforts of reaching out to family and friends asking for donations and sponsorships. Listen is pleased to recognize all the Salt Lake City teams for their fundraising success.

HARMAN PROFESSIONAL HOSTS INSTALLED SYSTEM APPLICATIONS SEMINAR IN SAO PAULO, BRAZIL

SAO PAULO, BRAZIL — Underscoring its commitment to engage new customers in growing market regions with the most comprehensive training and support programs, HARMAN Professional recently hosted a three-day seminar on Installed System Applications in Sao Paulo, Brazil with an international team of presenters. The event was planned in collaboration with Harman’s Brazil Country Head Rodrigo Kniest and Fernando Guerra, Sales Manager for Installed Sound & Cinema. It served to introduce HARMAN product and technology specialists and invited guest speaker and sound system design expert Vance Breshears of Acoustic Dimensions, along with Harman Brazil’s new Pro Sales & Marketing Director, Sergio Luis Smidt, to the audio design and installation community in Brazil.

According to David Scheirman, Director, Knowledge Resources, HARMAN Professional, the seminar is part of a growing information platform being developed to engage and update system designers, specifying engineers and AV consultants worldwide. The timing and choice of location were set to leverage the considerable interest about HARMAN products from audio and systems integration professionals in the Brazilian market. “Since recently making Brazil’s Selenium Electronica an important part of HARMAN Professional’s global business development and growth strategy, we have become much more deeply engaged with audio professionals in this region. That has led to a strong dialog and exchange of ideas,” Scheirman stated. “Cross pollinating geographic regions with ideas and techniques is always exciting and consistently yields value for everyone involved.”

The Sao Paulo program covered the fundamentals of sound and communications systems design from specification to commissioning. Additionally, it provided deep insights into complex system applications including sports stadia, live-performance venues, hospitality venues such as hotels, bars and dance clubs and communication and paging applications ranging from typical conference and boardroom spaces to large-scale transportation facilities. The seminar featured the latest technologies from AKG, BSS, Crown, dbx, JBL and Soundcraft Studer. Attendees also gained an experiential audio-visual exposure to IDX, HARMAN’s new unified paging and message delivery platform. Simultaneous translation in both the English and Portuguese languages was available for all attendees.

“With a robust economy, and with numerous fixed-venue design and installation opportunities resulting from Brazil’s upcoming global-scale sports and entertainment events on the calendar in the next few years, we are investing in more of the necessary personnel and resources to provide our customers with the knowledge and support they require to be successful in these areas,” commented Rodrigo Kniest. “Having firsthand access to world-class experts and leading-edge tools gives our customers a competitive edge in this growing market for sound and communications systems.”

Christie Digital Cinema Projectors Flexed Their “Super Powers” In The IGN Theater At New York Comic Con 2012

Preferred Integrator Digital Media Systems Chose Christie Solaria Projectors for Screenings in the Special Events Hall at the Jacob Javits Center in NYC.

As thousands of comic book and science fiction enthusiasts dressed in elaborate character costumes flocked to New York Comic Con, Christie digital cinema projectors flexed their own brand of “super powers” in the IGN theater. Preferred Christie integrator, Digital Media Systems, installed two Christie Solaria Series projectors to light up the theater in the special events hall, 1D, at the Jacob Javits Center in New York City, October 11 – 14.

New York Comic Con is a convention dedicated to celebrating all the latest in the comic book, graphic novel, video game and pop culture entertainment industries. Attracting more than 105,000 science fiction and fantasy enthusiasts, it is the second largest annual event held in New York City. At the event, fans from near and far gather to meet and greet their favorite celebrities, writers and animators, catch new movie trailers, and find unique, rare and popular collectibles from the science fiction universe on sale.

“We were thrilled to provide digital cinema projection through our trusted partner, Digital Media Systems, at this fun and very special convention,” said Craig Sholder, vice president, Christie Entertainment Solutions. “As the undisputed leader in digital cinema, we are pleased that our projectors helped filmmakers demonstrate to their eager fans the full gamut of special effects in brilliant color and high definition. When it comes to delivering superior image quality and unmatched brightness, Christie projectors certainly have their own ‘super powers’ for the job.”

Two for the Show
The concentration of this targeted, energetic fan base makes it a prime opportunity for directors and studios to generate buzz by showcasing their latest exclusive footage and previews. This required a digital projection system of the highest quality to ensure the most accurate depiction of the filmmakers’ vision. For the screenings, organizers entrusted Gregg Paliotta, president and owner of Digital Media Systems, to install Christie DLP Cinema digital projectors in the main hall for the second year in a row. He selected two Christie CP2230 2K projectors, one for each of the two 13-foot by 24-foot screens that dominated the right and left sides of the theater stage.

“We showed a 3D movie with a Christie projector and RealD 3D last year and got a great response; everyone was very pleased with the incredible picture quality. Our role was expanded this year with Christie delivering all the projected content in the hall and for one special 3D event,” said Paliotta. “The theater holds about 2,800 people and is the center of programming for the show, so we were very excited about all the events to unfold with the Christie projectors lighting up the venue. And, of course, the Christie projectors delivered as promised.”

Among the anticipated scheduled events to be projected were the first public screening of footage from “Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, Part 2”; and exclusive footage from “The Bay,” an eco-horror movie from Oscar®-winning director Barry Levinson and the producers of “Paranormal Activity”. The cast of AMC’s “The Walking Dead” also held a panel to discuss and present an exclusive clip from the season 3 premiere.

Christie is the Display ‘Superhero’
For Paliotta, Christie is “the real hero” when it comes to delivering the most powerful performances for these high profile situations. “We worked with the same people as last year and knew they were counting on us to deliver – which is why we chose Christie,” he said. “We use Christie projectors exclusively because the company is the only one we trust to give us the performance and reliability we need.”

Digital Media Systems provides complete equipment and engineering support for world premieres and event screenings. It also provides multiplex and screening room installation service and maintenance.

New SoundGarden Hall Venue Takes Off With MA onPC command wing

Philadelphia’s former Egypt Nightclub has been reincarnated as SoundGarden Hall, the newest addition to the city’s concert and live music scene, with help from Ian Hoffer using an MA onPC command wing. SoundGarden opened this fall and will host electronic dance, alternative, rock, pop and R&B artists for an all-ages live music experience. A.C.T Lighting is the exclusive distributor of MA Lighting in North America.

Hoffer, SoundGarden’s technical designer and contractor, is a long-time fan of grandMA consoles and specs them exclusively for his projects. “onPC command wing provided the perfect solution for this venue,” he says. “Everything is controlled by it,” including over 100 lighting fixtures, and all three onboard universes are fully utilized.

MA onPC command wing is designed to be deployed wherever it is physically difficult to use a grandMA2 console. Used in conjunction with free of charge grandMA2 onPC software, the onPC command wing permits programming or playback within the grandMA2 world for a powerful control solution on the road or in smaller theaters, shows and clubs.

“I coupled the onPC command wing with a Midi Fighter MIDI controller to give it all the x keys and married it with an ELO 22-inch touch computer,” Hoffer explains. “I fully utilized the console and am controlling over 120 fixtures, including 54 moving lights and 60 LED PARs. The onPC command wing has the onboard DMX I needed,” he adds, “as well as analog-in.

“I’ve always loved using MA products and the MA onPC command wing is no exception!” Hoffer declares.

GC Pro Opens New State-of-the-Art Recording/Listening Space at Hollywood Location

— New facility features a Neve Genesys console, Ocean Way monitors and more —

WESTLAKE VILLAGE, CA, October 11, 2012 — Guitar Center Professional (GC Pro), the outside sales division of Guitar Center that focuses on the needs of professional users, announces that it has opened a new custom recording/listening demo facility at the Hollywood Guitar Center location on Sunset Boulevard, which also houses GC Pro’s home offices. Open to the public, GC Pro affiliate partners and manufacturers alike, the facility is equipped with some of the most sought-after gear from GC Pro’s extensive inventory, including a Neve Genesys console and custom Ocean Way monitors tuned by creator Allen Sides himself – both products distributed in the U.S. exclusively by GC Pro. Additionally, the facility features studio monitors from companies like Genelec, ADAM, Focal and others – all high-end monitoring options – along with custom-designed photo-embedded acoustic treatment from Auralex (who also worked with GC Pro to tune the room), and racks and racks of outboard gear both vintage and new. The sound quality in the room is superb, and the gear provides the full range of options for today’s producer, engineer, artist or musician. This state-of-the-art recording/listening studio also features a signature look different from any other facility in the GC Pro organization.

“This new facility opens up a number of opportunities for GC Pro, for both demonstrating music and recording it,” stated GC Pro Vice President Rick Plushner. “The Hollywood location also houses our custom-built live sound stage, which is used to tape our acclaimed GC Sessions video series, and with the addition of the recording room, a fully-integrated facility is emerging – bridging the worlds of live sound, recording and AV production. The patch bays have been fully customized, designed by the Malvicino Design Group (one of our GC Pro Affiliates), and we can now fully track GC Sessions performances and other events, with the full arsenal of modern studio wizardry at our fingertips, including editing, effects and overdubs. We are raising the bar for what we can accomplish production-wise, and we will be passing that content onto the audio community at large.”

Other different kinds of programs based on the room are in the works, to further expand GC Pro’s reach and offer enrichment sessions/classes for the audio community. Manufacturer/vendors will be invited to participate in demonstrations, providing expert perspective – presentations that will be taped and posted on GC Pro’s website.

Allen Sides, GRAMMY® Award-winning engineer, producer and mixer who founded Ocean Way Recording, stated, “It’s great to have a room where you can actually hear what gear sounds like. We were excited to be involved with the acoustics and design of this great space, and to also provide a set of our new Ocean Way AS1 monitors. Critical listening is the only way to judge what gear sounds like, and in most retail environments you haven’t a clue until you get it home. This is a wonderful addition to GC Pro Hollywood.”

David Fischer, CEO of Auralex, added, “We are thrilled to have been chosen as the acoustical treatment of choice for GC Pro’s new high-tech facility. This state-of-the-art facility is an exciting development for GC Pro, and our involvement continues to strengthen the long-term relationship between Auralex and GC Pro.”

Horacio Malvicino of the Malvicino Design Group noted, “Installation of the new audio demo room at GC Pro was handled with the same approach we take with a regular studio installation. The console is fully wired to a total of four Audio Accessories TT 96 point patch bays, which allow access to all of the console features. We also added a sixteen-tie line panel in the control room to allow for quick interface of external gear, as well as a sixteen-input mic panel with Ethercon ports to interface a multi fold-back system.”
