Alan Parsons Hosts Recording Master Classes in Vegas and Nashville in February

Legendary producer continues workshop series with new events

Santa Cruz, Calif. Dateline Jan 10, 2013: Alan Parsons announces two new Master Class Training Sessions to be held at top studios in Las Vegas (Studio At The Palms on Feb 1st and 2nd) and Nashville (Ocean Way on Feb 11th and 12th).

In keeping with the tradition of these popular training workshops—previous events have been held in Los Angeles, Toronto, Bogota, and Buenos Aires—Alan Parsons has given each event its own unique theme: Vegas is titled “Iconic Instrumentals” and looks at the creation of music suitable for live music productions or international sporting events. The Vegas event also features a special section on Surround 5.1 mixing, for which Alan is rightly renowned, and for which he was GRAMMY®-Nominated in 2007.

The Nashville event is titled “The Art Of The Song” and takes Alan back to his roots working with some of the greatest pop songwriters of the twentieth century: The Beatles, Pink Floyd, and of course his own acclaimed recording career with The Alan Parsons Project.

Both events offer a “life-changing” (as one recent attendee put it) chance to make a new record in a great studio with an award-winning recording professional, looking at everything from mic’ing techniques and studio etiquette to processing and mixing.

Tickets are offered at the Platinum level—actually working with Alan in the control room—and the Gold “Video Village,” where blow-by-blow live video is fed to Attendees seated in the studio green room. All ticket holders get Q&A time and the chance to mingle with Alan during breaks and at the Champagne Reception at the end of Day 1.

Hometown Church for Lincoln Brewster Replaces Existing Point ‘N Shoot System with NEXO GEO S12 Line Array

BUENA PARK, Calif.—The Bayside Church in Roseville, California, known to many as the home to house of worship leader and influential musician, Lincoln Brewster, recently upgraded its speaker system for their 2,300-seat main campus location with a NEXO GEO S12 line array, RS18′s, and NXAmps. Bayside Church has a total of four locations, and over 12,000 members of the congregation attend worship services on any given weekend. Bayside Church and Brewster, who frequently leads worship at the church when not on tour, have considerable influence on the Christian scene. “Lincoln was very much involved in our decision to replace our existing d&b system with the NEXO system,” states Lee Fields, Senior Audio Director for all audio systems and audio staff across the campuses. “It was really a joint effort; Lincoln trusts me, but at the same time, I don’t underestimate his talents either. He is an incredible audio engineer in his own right. After all, he has mixed most of his own records.” The NEXO system was purchased through Special Event Services (SES), Sacramento.

Fields said that the core of the change in line array systems was that the church seating had changed drastically. “The d&b system was a point and shoot system that mainly covered the floor (about 900 seats), and large delay boxes covered the remaining 1,000ish seats in the bleacher sections. The new seating arrangement is still 900 on the floor and another 1,400 or so in new stadium-style seats, adding in another 500 new seating locations. With the previous system, over half of the seating area would have been in coverage by delay speakers—not ideal with the worship experience we are trying to create. The NEXO line array has allowed us to cover the room much better from a single source, and every seat sounds amazing and surprisingly similar to the next.” On a typical weekend, Bayside’s worship band consists of 6-7 contemporary worship musicians.

The second reason for the change out the system was a bit more philosophical Fields notes. “Lincoln and I both have been to hundreds of churches and have seen a variety of PA systems: PAs that rival stadium touring rigs, PAs way too small for big rooms, PAs way too big for small rooms, PAs that sound great and are just right for a church, and PAs that cost way too much money for a church to be spending money on. With all that said, we finally found a product that far exceeds our needs sonically and that is also a perfect representation of being a good steward when it comes to our church’s money. This is the biggest win for us on a personal level, knowing that we didn’t have to spend zillions of dollars on a system. We are astonished by the performance of the GEO S12 rig/ It feels great knowing our church can go about the duty of assisting people with the money we saved by choosing the product we did, and we didn’t sacrifice anything, rather, we gained everything.”

Fields has been a touring engineer for close to ten years and says he’s literally seen all of the various line arrays available. “I kept running across the GEO S12 at medium size festivals, at conferences, and other events. Every time I got my hands on them, I loved them! A huge bonus is how supportive the team at Yamaha Commercial Audio Systems has been. Jake Cody, the House of Worship Manager, has been an invaluable resource to me, Lincoln, and to our church. The heart of the Company, and Jake, is to help churches in anyway they can. The same can be said for Greg Slape from SES. They believe that NEXO being an elite brand can provide churches what they require in a line array, but at an affordable price point. The quality of the service from Yamaha and SES is unmatched in this industry, and I don’t think anyone would disagree.”

“We chose the NEXO Geo S12 because it was the best sounding box we tried,” adds Brewster. “It also happened to be the least expensive, and in my opinion, is the best value in line-array systems today.” The three other Bayside Church locations are using NEXO systems with NX Amps and Yamaha LS9 Digital Consoles. In total, there are over ten Yamaha digital consoles across all Bayside Church venues. On this year’s Christmas tour, Lincoln Brewster took along a pair of the new Yamaha CL5 Digital Consoles as well as a NEXO GEO S12 system, which Fields said, had big advantages so rehearsals could be accomplished at their own church with the exact PA used for the tour.

Belgium’s Télé Bruxelles Builds New Look on Chyron’s Channel Box² Channel Branding System

Chyron System Debuted for Elections Coverage and Soon Will Support Launch of Dynamic New Graphics Package for Daily Newscasts

LONDON — Jan. 15, 2013 — Chyron today announced that Belgium’s Télé Bruxelles is using the Channel Box² channel branding system to bring rich branding and graphical elements into live productions. The Brussels-based broadcaster initially deployed the Channel Box² to enhance its October 2012 coverage of municipal elections. As it completes a new graphics package for daily newscasts, Télé Bruxelles will leverage the Chyron system to incorporate dynamic presentations into its live news productions.

“Chyron’s Channel Box² is enabling us to revitalize our newscasts with fresh, dynamic graphic elements,” said Fabian Schewebach, project manager and audiovisual technician at Télé Bruxelles. “Using it to integrate RSS feeds, touch screen and iPad control, and social media feeds into our live newscasts, we will be able to offer our viewers a far more engaging and sophisticated news product. Despite the many different ways in which it allows graphics to interact, the system itself is easy to operate.”

The Chyron system allows users to generate stunning 3D animations and play them to air in real time. All animations created in Lyric(R) PRO, including rotating 3D objects with live data, are instantly available in Channel Box², giving productions a high-quality graphical look without requiring any pre-rendering. With Channel Box², Télé Bruxelles staff will be able to automate credit squeezes, produce promos live to air, and dynamically update text, images, and movie files.

Built on Chyron’s Lyric technology, Channel Box² allows users to access any data — RSS feeds, traffic, financial, weather, elections, tickers, promos, snipes, social media, and more — and publish it to air anywhere and anytime. Channel Box² software also features SHOUT(TM), Chyron’s social media editor, a software-based solution that allows the operator to monitor and pull incoming tweets or Facebook posts from any feed and quickly display them on air.

“Channel Box² gives broadcasters a straightforward yet powerful solution for incorporating engaging and informative graphic elements into special event coverage as well as daily newscasts,” said Lou Garvin, product manager at Chyron. “By putting the best of today’s social media tools and popular control surfaces into the hands of producers and on-air talent, Channel Box² also can add greater sophistication and interest to live news programs.”

Small Digital Voice Recorder
Offers Memory Help That’s Always With You

On Your Key Ring Or Attached To Your Pocketbook,
When You Leave Home, MemClickTM Leaves With You

Marietta GA, January 15, 2013 – ExackTM LLC has launch its new high quality digital mini voice recorder, MemClickTM. At $29.95, it fills the niche between expensive voice recorders and toys. On a key ring or attached to a pocketbook, it’s always available. Simple to use, with one finger, it can make a voice recording or playback high quality sound, at controllable levels anywhere. No need to plug it into a computer to play back. Made to be hung on a car key ring, slipped into a pocket or purse or hung on a hook beside a bed, this very small voice recorder measures only 2½ inches high, 1¼ inches wide and a ½ inch thick and weighs less than 1 oz. MemClick records up to 8 minutes and you can instantly locate notes from three folders (red, yellow and green) with lighted buttons and play them back. It can record up to 60 memos on a single battery charge that will last for weeks. The MemClick, manufactured in the USA, connects to any USB port for recharging (rechargeable battery and USB cable are included).

There are basically two types of portable voice recorders, cassette and digital. Digital voice recorders are much easier to use than cassettes, because there‘s no need to rewind them endlessly to find a particular recorded section to play back and there’s no tape to jam or wear out as with other cassette audio recorders. And MemClick records or plays without having to look at it while driving. But what good is any audio recorder, if you don’t have it with you when you need it?

The uses for MemClick are endless.
● Memory help for Alzheimer’s support, short term memory loss or stroke victims
● Make lists; shopping list, honey-do list, measurements and many more.
● On car key rings, Record driving directions; have detailed instructions all the way; On-the-go memos to yourself; Contact information.
● Never spend time in the rain again hunting for a car in a crowded parking lot. Record the row location.
● Hang it on a refrigerator as a family member locator. Each family member can leave an intended destination and return time.
● In bed, no need to hunt paper and pen, place it on a night-stand for bed-side notes, phone numbers, and ideas.
● Keep it with the TV remote to note TV ad info such as advertised product phone number and web site address.
● The MemClick makes a perfect trade show promotional give-away or gift and is also for people who have everything, but can’t remember where they left it.

To make MemClick more accessible, one accessory available is an extension/retraction cord. The cord holder clips easily with a spring-loaded clip to anything. The key ring nylon cord extends out 24″. It has a latch with an easy spring release. A split key ring is attached. It is manufactured from metal and plastic. The dimensions are (approx): 1-3/8″ wide, 2-1/4″ long and 1/2″ thick. The price is $4.95 and includes shipping.

About Exack:

Exack is a Christian operated company based out of Marietta, GA. Focusing primarily on electronics, Exack was founded by an engineer who loves to think outside of the box and to find ways to solve problems to help others. The founder is a man who loves Jesus, is an avid photographer, and has an unusual fondness for garlic. Just your typical guy next door . . . who loves to invent things.

MemClick all began with the idea for an easy and quick way to remember all of those little things in life that get lost in the busyness of life. After searching the stores and trying multiple devices out there, he discovered that there wasn’t anything that really helped. So, an experienced engineer and inventor with several patents under his belt began to try to create that very thing right out of his basement. With the input of many other really smart people, MemClick was born and suddenly remembering things became a whole lot easier.
