Tributaries’ Unveils Improved PROFIT Connectors

Orlando, FL—January 2013—Tributaries is proud to introduce the all-new PROFIT connectors. The ever-popular PROFIT connectors have been vastly improved now requiring 50% LESS effort for compression and constructed of high impact plastic. The improvement is made possible thanks to the merger of “Pro-Connect” and “Snap N’ Seal” who were purchased by Belden, these two fantastic designs have combined to yield a new connector with the performance of “Pro-Connect” and the ease of “Snap N’ Seal”.

The new connectors feature an elegant gunmetal finish standard for all models. In the coming months, new signal identifier color rings will become available which will conveniently fit into the indented area just below the connector head. Connectors will only require one silver-crimping die to assemble the connectors; this enables the number of components to be kept down only to the essential items, simplifies installation and eliminates the need to swap out crimping dies on the compression tool.

The new style will retain the key features such as: visible entry for RCA and BNC and, 360° radial compressions. The connectors will continue to work with a number of different industry compression tools. While Tributaries won’t be the only manufacturer to offer this new connector, it is the only manufacturer to offer unprecedented quality control performed in its Orlando-based headquarters. Tributaries also guarantees all compression connectors fit on the coax sold by the company.

The newly designed F, RCA, and BNC for RG59 and RG6 are now available. Connectors for TRIBMINI will be available later this year.

High Resolution Systems Expands With Move to New Lake Orion Headquarters

High Resolution Systems, a leading innovator in the professional AV market, continues its expansion mode with a move to much larger quarters in Lake Orion, Michigan. The new 12,000-square foot location combines office and warehouse space for all three companies under the High Resolution banner: High Resolution Engineering, HRS Control and Lightware USA.

“We have quadrupled our space with this move,” says sales engineer Drew Taylor. “We needed more space for our growing employee roster and to accommodate customers who come for product demos.”

During the past year the companies made new hires in the areas of sales, marketing and warehouse management/shipping and reciving, and more are expected before InfoComm13, says Taylor. “With more employees on board and all 3 companies continuing to grow, it was clear that we needed to make some infrastructure investments. Our new space is divided among offices, a conference room, a training room, a kitchen and break room and warehouse areas to expand US based Lightware inventory and allow more space for our rental equipment. Lightware USA, in particular, required more physical space for Lightware’s new 25G router, whose first units are coming in March. It’s a very large frame, very high-end technology, and we needed room for testing, system engineering and hosting in house customer demos and training.

“In fact, our Lake Orion headquarters now gives us room to demo all of our UDC Software and control solutions,” he adds.

“We’ve built the kind of high-technology house that you’d expect to find in California rather than southeast Michigan,” says Taylor. “But as 3rd-generation Michiganders from the nearby area we’re proud to make Lake Orion our new home.”

Cathedral of Faith Upgrades to Full HD Broadcast Capability with FOR-A Video Switcher

Fort Lee, N.J. – FOR-A Corporation of America, a leading manufacturer of video and audio systems for the broadcast and professional video industries, announces that San Jose, California-based Cathedral of Faith has implemented a FOR-A HVS-350HS video switcher as part of their HD overhaul. The church’s system was recently converted to HD in two phases and integrated by the Texas-based company Spectaveris.

Besides their main location in San Jose, Cathedral of Faith has seven remote locations around the San Francisco Bay area. Each week, the main church’s Saturday service is recorded, duplicated onto hard drives, and sent by car to each remote church. The sermon is then shown at each remote campus church using ProPresenter technology. Cathedral of Faith also broadcasts its services online at http://live.cathedraloffaith.org/ and has live HD feeds to the church’s outdoor pavilion every Sunday morning. All church services, which include five on the weekend, one midweek service, and a Spanish service on Sunday, are recorded. DVDs of the services are also available to the congregation for purchase.

Broadcasting since 1965, Cathedral of Faith first worked with Spectaveris to upgrade their system to standard definition six years ago. When called upon this year to convert the church to HD production, Spectaveris discovered some initial design challenges. First, they had to work around the church’s weekly broadcast schedule. The integrator also needed to consider that the vast majority of the church’s production staff were volunteers, so keeping a user-friendly workflow was crucial. There was also the usual challenge of delivering high-quality technology while keeping within the church’s budget.

Spectaveris began equipment selection for the church in April at the NAB 2012 show. Company representatives met with several vendors to choose the switcher that best fit Cathedral of Faith’s needs. After considerable competitive evaluation, Spectaveris found that FOR-A’s HVS-350HS solution met their criteria better than any other switcher on the market. Because they were able to implement the HVS-350HS with two control panels and two multiviewers, one FOR-A switcher replaced the two switchers that the church had been using.

“FOR-A’s HVS-350HS solution is the only switcher out there that offers such a high-quality, cost-effective product with flexible control panels and remote capability control,” said Dean Stone, President, Spectaveris. “Our installations frequently include FOR-A switchers. We continually find that our customers are extremely pleased with the performance of their switcher, and are confident that FOR-A will keep bringing high-quality, reliable solutions to the market.”

The FOR-A switcher was installed this past September during the first phase of the church’s upgrade. The second phase, which involved integrating and testing new cameras and reducing rack size, was executed a few months later. Other equipment installed includes: a Sony OLED picture monitor, Mutec video and digital audio sync master clock generator and a Dell UltraSharp LCD monitor. The project was completed mid-November, and Cathedral of Faith now has full HD broadcast capability. Sleigh Bells Ring at University of Chicago Thanks to Gand Concert Sound

BUENA PARK, Calif.—Gand Concert Sound (GCS) of Glenview, Illinois celebrated the holidays with noise pop duo The Sleigh Bells at the University of Chicago. Their unique stage set up which is a wall of Marshalls, and an iPod carrying rhythm tracks, makes for a simple yet bone-crushing set up.

“The Sleigh Bells are the band of the future,” states Gary Gand, President of Gand Concert Sound. “First came the White Stripes, then the Black Keys. The band’s singer, Alex Krauss, tore it up on vocals with a hand-held wireless mic. She chose songs on her iPod, which runs stereo. Guitarist Derek Edward played through a literal wall of guitar stacks. Four channels and your done!”

GCS provided a pair of Yamaha PM5D Digital Audio Consoles and a 12-box flown NEXO GEO S12 rig with six NEXO CD18 subs. Alpha side fills and PS15 wedges rounded out the rig that was powered by NEXO 4×4 amps.

“We did our first major show at University of Chicago’s Mandel Hall in the spring of 1976,” Gand says. “The bill included country swing stars Asleep at the Wheel, acapella group Sweet Honey and the Rock, juju musician King Sunny Ade, and jazz guitar prodigy, George Benson. Benson came out in a white tux, opened his mouth and sang “Masquerade” from his new, unreleased album Breezin’, which rocketed to up the charts to #1 that summer. It’s great to be working in the same venue 36 years later with a new generation of music fans listening to today’s bands through the best audio gear.”

ASHLY KLR-3200 AMPLIFIERS POWER UP DOWNSTREAM CASINO AND RESORT

QUAPAW, OKLAHOMA – JANUARY 2013: With its parking lot in Kansas, its main entrance in Missouri, and its gaming facilities and guest accommodations in Oklahoma, Downstream Casino Resort is quite literally on top of the region’s historic tri-state junction. The Quapaw Tribe-operated facility opened in 2008 and attracts approximately two million visitors annually. Building on its tremendous success, Downstream Casino Resort undertook an ambitious expansion plan to add a six-story tower with 155 additional guest rooms, restaurants, event spaces, and spa services. The Tribe hired A1 Audio of nearby Branson, Missouri to design and install a comprehensive distributed audio system, and A1 Audio delivered, in part by specifying a modest rack of high-powered, low-cost Ashly KLR-3200 amplifiers.

A1 Audio got its start in the 1960s in the energized venues of Las Vegas, Nevada. Its reputation for putting on successful shows with nary an unprofessional hiccup launched successful ventures in Hollywood, California, and, later, Branson, Missouri. Today, the Missouri office upholds the unwavering commitment to service that made the company so successful at its start. For years, Downstream Casino Resort has relied on A1 Audio for live show rentals and technical support. When plans materialized for the new expansion, the Quapaw called on A1 Audio to bring that same level of professionalism to its new facilities.

For reasons outside of A1 Audio’s control, the timeline on the new project was incredibly tight. “Massive crews from all the trades swarmed the new construction,” explained Pete Savel, vice president of A1 Audio. “At one point when we were pulling cable, they had something like 250 guys on drywall! It was a huge undertaking.” Despite the rush, the new system is elegant and refined, in consonance with the architecture and professionalism of the casino and resort staff.

In strategic locations throughout the tower, eighty Community loudspeakers from the 70-Volt D4, D6, and D8 wide-dispersion series deliver articulate, full-frequency content. In a few locations with less than six inches of ceiling space, low-profile Community D4LP deliver comparable performance. Yamaha DME-N series processors provide all input conditioning and matrixing, and an AMX system provides user control via an intuitive and engaging iPad interface. Five dual-channel Ashly KLR-3200 amplifiers power the entire system.

“The Ashly KLR-Series amplifiers are tremendously powerful, yet remarkably affordable,” said Savel. “Nothing else comes close on a performance-to-cost basis. We’ve used them in several installations now, and they worked from day one without a single glitch. That’s the kind of reliability we count on.”

ABOUT ASHLY AUDIO Ashly Audio Inc. is recognized as a world leader in the design and manufacturing of high quality & high performance signal processing equipment and power amplification for use in the commercial sound contracting and professional audio markets. The 37-year old company is headquartered in Webster, New York U.S.A.

Barix Accentuates Dynamic Audio Insertion for Businesses at Digital Signage Expo

Insertion of attention-grabbing facts before advertisements help keep customers focused on business message

ZURICH, SWITZERLAND, January 29, 2013Barix will highlight its complete IP audio streaming and insertion solution at Digital Signage Expo (Las Vegas Convention Center, February 27-28, Booth 151), demonstrating how businesses can cost-effectively deliver targeted, dynamic messages to consumers as part of a comprehensive, custom audio program.

The Barix solution incorporates partner MOH Technology’s Adiosys ad insertion software with its Exstreamer IP decoders for audio playout. Andrew Stadheim, president of Barix Technology, U.S., says that businesses can use the complete solution to more effectively reach consumers — notably through insertion of news headlines, weather and other local-interest facts prior to ads and promotional messages.

“You’re hearing this more at gas pumps and in retail stores that place significance on audio programming, where businesses offer a teaser to entice the consumer, and follow with a business-related message,” said Stadheim. “It’s about engaging the listener up front with the goal of driving revenue. Your customers are more likely to tune out if you feed an advertisement right away.”

The Adiosys software offers a simple way for businesses to upload, schedule and target ads, jingles and promos, and simultaneously enable fact-insertion. Meanwhile, Barix Exstreamer devices are IP addressable, with the ability to receive and playout targeted messaging in one or more zones or locations. This ensures that businesses can deliver the right messages to the right locations.

“This gives retailers and other businesses two key advantages: reliable, high-quality audio playout using Barix IP audio devices; and the ability to create a personalized, broadcast-quality audio stream with dynamic messages for each of your locations,” said Stadheim.

Barix offers several Exstreamer device models for in-store media solutions, including the Exstreamer 110 IP audio device with song, title and other stream information in a front panel window; and the Exstreamer 205, which includes built-in amplification to reduce costs and infrastructure at playout locations.
