Riedel Digital Matrix and Wireless Intercoms Enable Flexible, Clear Communications at Pershing Square Signature Center

GLENDALE, Calif. — March 28, 2013 — Riedel Communications, provider of pioneering real-time video, audio, data, and communications networks, today announced that New York City’s Signature Theatre Company has installed a Riedel digital intercom system at the Pershing Square Signature Center, the company’s Frank Gehry-designed home situated off-Broadway on 42nd Street. The installation includes the Riedel Artist digital intercom matrix and Acrobat Digital Wireless Intercom system, which unite to provide a flexible platform for broadcast-audio-quality communications throughout the facility.

“Riedel’s digital intercom products give us the quality and versatility that is critical for productions in a modern theater environment,” said Graham Johnson, sound, video, and communications supervisor at Signature Theatre Company. “Not only is the ability to communicate essential to the production, but it is also critical to the safety of our staff and performers. The Riedel systems have surpassed our expectations in every way.”

The facility’s Artist systems feature a distributed masterless system architecture that significantly reduces wiring, making it easy and cost-effective for users to configure intercom panels and partylines to meet current production requirements at the center’s three theaters: the Linney, the Diamond, and the Griffin. For each theater, engineers have created stage manager stations comprised of Artist 1000 Series control key-panels packaged into flight cases. Access plates throughout the building provide connections for both Artist control panels and Performer digital partylines, which are routed via a central patch bay.

The theater company uses an Acrobat CC-60 cell controller to support 16 wireless beltpacks. In addition, 24 Acrobat CA-6 cell antenna units installed at the Pershing Square Signature Center ensure complete coverage of the building with seamless hand-over between the antennas’ cells, providing intercom communications with consistently high audio quality regardless of users’ location. The Acrobat system is optimized for both partyline and point-to-point communications and provides digital audio quality without interfering with UHF radio microphones or in-ear monitors.

Additional information about Riedel Communications, the company’s Artist digital intercom matrix, and the Acrobat digital wireless system is available at www.riedel.net.

T3 Innovation Launches Revolutionary New Power Prowler(tm) 3-In-1 Electrical Fault Finder

Camarillo, Calif., March 29, 2013 — T3 Innovation (t3innovation.com), a leading provider of advanced handheld test equipment for the cable/telecommunications, datacom/networking, electrical design and maintenance, and residential/CEDIA custom install markets, is proud to introduce the new revolutionary 3-In-1 PLR600 Power Prowler™ fault finder. The Power Prowler is scheduled to ship April 2013.

“The Power Prowler eliminates the need for carrying three separate testers, allowing a technician to have a digital multimeter, cable fault detection, and a live event detection all in one unit,” said Ron Vogel, T3 Innovation CEO. “By not only combining multiple necessary tools, such as these three distinct yet sometimes necessary testers into just one device, the end result is not just time saved, it has the potential to save repair facilities millions of dollars in down time. Additionally, it eliminates frustration, by finding events on cable that only occur during field use and when the electric systems are actually carrying voltage and current.”

The PLR600 Power Prowler features and specifications include:
• Made in America
• Safety rating up to 600Volt Cat III
• Large graphical color LCD display
• Easy to use user interface with international function symbols
• Control over power saving features such as auto-off and backlight dim
• Built-in list of cable types and their VOP values
• Audio indication when a change/fault is detected
• Favorites list for commonly tested cable types
• MSRP: $649.95

The Digital Multimeter functions support DC Volts, 10M Ohm input impedance, AC Volts, 10M Ohm input impedance; automatically selected AC or DC Volts with a lower impedance; continuity with audible signal for low resistance; Ohms measurement, and data logging and graphing capability options.

Fault Detection provides 1) a quick picture of a cable’s condition, measuring distances to shorts or open faults in a cable or the cable length, 2) features library of common cable type VOP values, 3) Calibration mode calculates the VOP once the length of a cable is inputted, and 4) Loop testing with audible indication of changing readings.

The Live Event Detection provides a continuous view of live and energized cable conditions by sampling a circuit continuously to detect changes. Power Prowler detects, locates, and characterizes cable faults, plus has the ability to time stamp these events.

“With the complexity of today’s electrical, data, voice and video signal carrying systems, you need a tool that is fast, accurate, and easy-to-use to see down the wire and show the exact conditions that exist,” added Vogel. “The Power Prowler not only combines three necessary technologies into one portable handheld unit, but it also allows for quicker, easier, safer, and more cost effective maintenance no matter the task at hand.”

Second Generation of IDC’s Widely Deployed STAR Pro Audio Receiver to Be Introduced at NAB2013

Targeted ad insertion, shared hub support, time-shifting and lower bandwidth requirements make this next-level solution unique

Ottawa, ON – International Datacasting (TSX: IDC), a global leader in digital content distribution for the world’s premiere radio and television broadcasters, will launch the second generation of its popular STAR Pro Audio solution at the 2013 NAB Show, April 8 – 11 at the Las Vegas Convention Center (Booth SU3711.)

The second generation of the STAR Pro Audio solution opens up new revenue generating opportunities for radio networks by providing localized ad insertion. The new platform also enables time-shifting functionality, allowing broadcasters to play the right content at the desired time. Broadcasters can now seamlessly adjust for time zones and rapidly adapt to conflicting live programming schedules.

In addition to increasing ad revenues and improving flexibility, the STAR Pro Audio solution significantly lowers per-channel costs through shared hub support. Additionally, it uses up to 70% less bandwidth compared to competitive solutions.

“With this next generation of STAR Pro Audio, radio broadcasters can look forward to two very important things—boosting revenue and lowering their operating expenditures,” said Del Lippert, Chairman of the Board and Interim CEO, International Datacasting. “The platform increases advertising revenues because it enables highly localized ad insertion. The ability to sell more targeted ads—by location, demographic, time zone, or language—means more revenue opportunities across the entire network. “We’re eager to show off our next generation of STAR Pro Audio at the NAB show next month.”

STAR Pro Audio includes a copy split capability that allows operators to send select ads to specific regions or specific receivers. Audio files stored in the receiver can be inserted into live or recorded programming. Cost savings are realized through shared hub support which enables multiple radio networks to share one 4-channel receiver instead of having each network deploy its own standalone, single channel receiver. Additionally, STAR Pro Audio requires just 120 kHz space segment for stereo, as opposed to 440 kHz for competitive systems, resulting in further cost savings.

Industry experts believe there will be a resurgence of radio advertising due to the inclusion of FM radio receivers in smart phones. This will add millions of new FM radios in the market.

The second generation of the STAR Pro Audio solution will be featured at the NAB 2013 Radio PIT in Central Hall:

April 8th, 2:15 p.m. – 2:35 p.m. PT

April 9th, 1:15 p.m. – 1:35 p.m. PT.

Virginia Lee Williams, Vice President of Global Sales and Marketing, and Walter Capitani, Vice President of Product Management, will discuss the second generation of STAR Pro Audio at the above-listed dates and times.

Clay Paky Sharpy Join National Arena Tour Co-headlined by Three Days Grace and Shinedown

American rock bands Three Days Grace and Shinedown are on the road with Clay Paky Sharpy fixtures helping to light up their tour.

Three Days Grace and Shinedown are coheadlining a national arena tour, which commenced in February. “Transit of Venus,” the new album from Three Days Grace, debuted at Number Five on the Billboard 200 and includes the Number One Active Rock single, Chalk Outline. Shinedown’s most recent album, “Amaryllis,” produced a pair of chart-topping Active Rock singles.

“Using Sharpy is almost mandatory these days,” reports Mike Filsinger, the lighting designer for Three Days Grace. “It’s an advanced light – pretty much the only technological advancement in lights lately: Clay Paky has really done the R&D to make better fixtures and is now reaping the rewards.”

Bandit Lites supplied 28 Sharpys in the main package. A primary lighting rig serves both shows; each band also has a supplemental rig. Three Days Grace has eight additional Sharpys in its package; Filsinger’s Sharpys are the dominant light in the rig and are used in the air and on the floor. Shinedown has 24 additional Sharpys, which are used to achieve a variety of moves.

“The band really likes Sharpy’s look and beams – they’re known for being beamy and bright,” says Carter Fulghum, Shinedown’s lighting designer. “The gobos give you great breakups, too. But the Sharpy is so bright that you have to be careful of what other lights you use because Sharpy will overpower them.”

Fulgham concludes, “It was great working with Mike [Filsinger], who is so easy to work with on this co-headlining tour. Also great were Aron Altmark, Esteban Caracciolo, Mario Collazo and Bob Gordon for all there help and support through the years.”

A.C.T Lighting is the exclusive North American distributor for Clay Paky.

Francesco Romagnoli, Clay Paky Area Manager for North and Latin America, adds, “It’s great that designers think the Sharpy is critical to the look their tour. Mike and Carter seem to have really taken advantage of their properties.”
