Christie Positions Customers for Decades of Growth with Wide Range of Innovative Products, Services and Financing Options at CinemaCon

Christie®, a global visual technology company, will showcase a wide range of innovative cinema projection solutions, backed by its monitoring and support services, at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, April 15 – 18. Christie is the world’s largest manufacturer, installer and servicer of DLP Cinema® projectors and once again has the show’s largest CinemaCon exhibit area to confirm its position as the “Exhibitor’s Choice” for attendees of this pre-eminent gathering of movie theater owners from around the world.

“Our customers view Christie and its business partners as the suppliers-of-choice for the technology infrastructure and ongoing service expertise needed to deliver exciting and immersive movie experiences,” said Kathryn Cress, vice president, Global and Corporate Marketing, Christie. “At the same time, Christie knows that its customers have an eye on the future, as does Christie, and the company is actively involved in securing this future by developing innovative solutions, such as laser projection, boothless projection systems and solutions for exhibitors who have yet to make the move to digital.”

Cress also noted that Christie’s offerings span the needs of independent exhibitors, which encompass drive-ins, film festivals and post-production in-house studios, as well as global cinema chains, to leverage cinema and alternative content across all sizes of cinema auditoriums, in 2K, 4K and in 3D, on standard and large-format, ‘premium’ screens.’

In addition to comprehensive solutions on display in Christie booth #2103A and in the Milano Room, Christie is a sponsor of the International Day activities, including its Awards Luncheon on April 15, which Jack Kline, president and chief operating officer, Christie Digital Systems USA, Inc. will address. As well, Craig Sholder, vice president, Entertainment Solutions, Christie will kick off the opening night dinner and reception, which Christie is also sponsoring.

The Seven Zones in Christie’s Booth Showcase Choices for Exhibitors
“Visitors to the Christie booth will have the opportunity to experience our entire digital cinema offering, whose scope encompasses financing the move to digital cinema, establishing an affordable and flexible upgrade path towards new formats and technologies, and turnkey service and support for their operations,” said Cress. “These seven zones will amply demonstrate Christie’s commitment to be a trusted, one-stop shop for all exhibitor needs.”

Zone 1 – Through the Christie innovation theater, Christie will demonstrate the projection technology required for the current state and long-term future of the industry. Proof points will include footage from James Cameron that delivers an immersive and detailed HFR experience. And see first-hand how Christie is projecting 3D movies at brightness levels of 14 foot-lamberts (ft-L).

The Christie Solaria One

Zone 2 – The Christie Solaria One and Solaria One+ will showcase their completeness and “brightest in small projection class” attributes. The Solaria One is perfect for screens up to 35 feet, projecting 8000 lumens in the DCI color space. For theaters with side masking or post production houses, Christie Solaria One+ offers a motorized lens mount, superior optical performance specifications enabling higher contrast, and is capable of attaining an additional 1000 lumens within the DCI color space.

The Christie Duo

Zone 3 – As an alternative to current “name brand” big-screen projection at a very economical price, the Christie Duo will be featured. A premium cinema experience for everyone is delivered by the Christie Duo, which achieves the world’s most brilliant, big-screen, 2D and 3D premium theater experiences. Our dual-projection solution is cost effective with low upfront costs and no ongoing revenue sharing to worry about. Yet one need not sacrifice brightness, sharpness and superior 3D images with this economical choice.

Zone 4 – Christie’s Superior Performance (SP) Xenolite® lamps feature 30 percent longer lamp life, to with their unsurpassed reliability. Christie’s Xenolite lamps have always delivered, reaching an extraordinary 99.999 percent increase in theatre uptime. The new SP Xenolite lamp provides the same unmatched brightness and reliability along with a 30 percent longer life than traditional Xenon lamps, which maximize an exhibitor’s investment in them.

Zone 5 – A mini Network Operations Center will highlight Christie’s state-of-the-art Network Operations Center (NOC), operated by Christie’s Managed Services group. Their NOC facilities worldwide safeguard our customers’ digital projectors and in-lobby displays to keep them running 24/7/365. The NOC features remote monitoring and reporting, phone support, preventive servicing, onsite emergency response and critical spares replenishment programs for digital cinema projection and digital signage displays.

Zone 6 – Christie is one of the few vendors offering custom Boothless Projection, which in turns frees up additional theater seating. Christie’s Managed Services team will showcase their customized boothless projection system as part of a complete customized solution. This turnkey boothless solution provides a special lift system that enables projectors to be positioned out of the way during normal operation and lowered for maintenance, freeing up space for seating that would normally have been taken up by the projection booths.

Zone 7 – Revenue opportunities from In-lobby digital signage, designed, built, deployed and supported by Christie Managed Services along with its partner network will be highlighted. Experience what a theater lobby could be with eye-catching digital signage such as digital box office, digital posters, digital menu boards and custom kiosks.

Christie’s Commitment to HFR
The two main goals of Christie’s HFR activities are to help the industry develop the best HFR content and the best delivery system for HFR content. The first goal involves assisting leading-edge filmmakers and post-production companies in perfecting HFR movie creation, so the industry has the most engaging, entertaining content possible. The second goal is to assist exhibitors in showing these 3D HFR movies in all their glory. To these ends, Christie is helping create the standards for 3D HFR movies through formal and informal technology-development alliances with major producers and directors, post production facilities, studios and technology partners. On the exhibitor’s front, Christie provides one stop shopping for all the hardware, software and services that enable exhibitors to deliver a filmmaker’s vision in stunning 3D HFR quality. Blansfield Builders Uses ELAN g! To Close Multiple Home Sales

Jim Blansfield of Danbury, Connecticut-based Blansfield Builders, Inc. is always looking for ways to distinguish himself from other companies and provide clients with the latest innovations that can make their homes more affordable, sustainable, comfortable and enjoyable. As a LEED Accredited Professional and an NAHB™ Certified Green Professional™ he’s up to date on all of the most modern building trends and homebuyer desires. After using the ELAN® g! Entertainment and Control Systems to close multiple home sales over the past two years, he is taking this commitment to the next level by recommending ELAN g! to every new client regardless of the size of the home being built!

“I’m a believer in ‘the new normal’ way of thinking,” he said, “and with the affordable and expandable control solutions made possible by ELAN g!, home control is the new normal! In the past two years, I’ve closed several new homes by demoing the g! system for prospective clients. The buyers are consistently impressed that I include technology in my designs and recommendations, because many other builders minimize the importance of home technologies. For builders, their resistance to change is going to hurt them in the long run.

“Much in the same way you can’t buy a new car today without some kind of an infotainment system, we are entering the next era of home technology where new homes simply will not be built without a home control system. While the level of complexity and cost will certainly vary, systems like lighting and HVAC will be automatically integrated in new homes, providing advanced scheduling and local weather-based triggers to increase homeowner comfort and energy efficiency.”

To date, Blansfield has built 13 homes that include ELAN g! systems of varying size and complexity. Whether the new buyers were looking for enhanced security, HVAC scheduling, lighting, irrigation and pool controls, or super simple whole-home audio and video systems, every client received a custom solution tailored to their specific needs. From a business perspective, Blansfield knows that his knowledge, appreciation and passion for technology place him in an entirely different category from other builders.

“If you talk to new homebuyers and technology integrators you’ll find that many homebuilders consider advanced home technologies an afterthought, if they consider them at all,” he continued. “I think that’s a huge mistake. The truth is that people love their mobile devices, and systems like ELAN g! that allow homeowners to control their homes with a few taps and swipes are so desirable that it’s foolish to overlook them. It becomes a major component of the home and can even be more noticeable than the beautiful hardwood floors or granite countertops that builders and designers use to excite prospective buyers. With the ease and convenience of mobile accessibility, every buyer walks away from my hands-on demo feeling that they need it as part of their new home.

“Another thing that holds back some builders and buyers is the misconception that modern home control is too expensive. Now with ELAN g! there is a customized solution to satisfy every budget, every size home and every homebuyer need. Some people simply want multi-room audio that they can control from their iPhone, while others want an irrigation system that will know to skip a watering if it’s going to rain that afternoon, and g! scales to fit everyone’s specific requirements.”

Blansfield’s final words of wisdom are perhaps the most important of all for any homebuyer or builder looking to dive into home control — make sure you work with a qualified professional installer! ELAN Home Systems has developed a worldwide network of trained professionals who install and program systems to fit the precise requirements of each job, and there is no substitute for a system that works right the first time.

“Hiring a skilled, knowledgeable, reliable contractor is the glue that holds the whole project together,” he advised. “I’ve been working with Dave Febbraio of Structured Home Solutions for seven years, and his dedication to ongoing customer service and timely, get-it-right-the-first-time track record give me confidence that every one of my clients will love their system. As home technology gets more and more complex in its abilities, while getting even easier to operate for the end-user, certified professionals will increasingly provide the service and support that enables everything to run smoothly and allow the users to forget there is a sophisticated system at work. All they need to know is that they can turn down the lights, turn up the heat and start their movie with a few simple buttons. And if they want to do all that from work or from halfway around the world, all they need is an iOS or Android device. It’s that simple.”

According to custom integrator Dave Febbraio, “It’s a pleasure to work with Jim because he truly is a forward thinking builder, which is so rare. As he said, most builders today are still afraid of technology. Jim knows control systems are necessary for new homes and that any builders who are not incorporating them are doing their clients a disservice. This is something Jim is passionate about, and he loves showing off the ELAN g! system we installed in his Vermont home. His enthusiasm for the work we do is so evident that people quickly realize how necessary it is and that it must be part of their new home.”

Blansfield Builders (www.blansfieldbuilders.com) has been building and remodeling with the help of top architects, designers and technology integrators since the company’s founding in 1985.
