HRS Control To Distribute Powerful Picturall Octo Media Server with 8K Play Back

HRS Control is pleased to announce that it has become the exclusive distributor of Picturall Octo in the U.S. The Finland-made Picturall Octo media server offers the easiest, most powerful and most cost-effective solution for multiscreen video installations. It can play back 16 full HD video layers and is the first media server in the world to play back full 8K resolution media. It is ideal for both rental staging and fixed installations, including theater, concert touring, museums, broadcast and unique signage configurations. Picturall will be showcased in High Resolution Systems’ booth at InfoComm13, June 8-14 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando booth # 4089.

“Picturall Octo stands out from the competition because of the amount of power it offers in one box,” says Drew Taylor at HRS Control. “It’s designed for applications with a lot of different displays. Octo has eight DVI dual-link outputs each of which can run at a dual-link resolution of 2x 1080p. With external splitters you can get up to 32 independent DVI outputs at 720p each – all fully configurable with warping, image manipulation, blending and more.”

Picturall Octo runs on the rock solid Linux operating system and is controllable using Picturall Commander, free remote-control software with a highly efficient user interface. It is also controllable via DMX, Art-Net and TCP/IP or with HRS Controls’ UDC (Universal Device Controller) software.

“A new version of Commander, which has been totally revamped with more cueing, macro executions and presets, is expected to be officially released at InfoComm,” Taylor reports.

Octo’s robust, powerful video engine delivers a playback performance of more than 16 layers of full HD video and provides 48 media layers with position, scaling, rotation, color correction, effects, alpha channel and more. The system also boasts a built-in cutting-edge 3D effects generator.

Octo is easily set up: The whole system can be installed in minutes. A simple but versatile display set up and built-in EDID manager are used to line up even the most complex display set ups in less than an hour.

HRS Control is also distributing Picturall Octo+, a new version of the Octo media server, equipped with enhanced hardware capable of running media up to 8K. “With a faster processor, Octo+ is targeted to very high-resolution content needs,” says Taylor.

Picturall Octo has been used to display images from the Vancouver Winter Olympics on an innovative multi-screen set for a Dutch broadcaster; run high-resolution media content on a giant LED screen during the opening ceremonies for the ShenZhen Universiade in China; help create one of the world’s largest holographic projections at the Tian Long Yuan Theatre in Beijing; and run the media content for a staggering 3,010 square-meter display that comprised the Qin Han Tang Emporium’s Sky Screen in Xi’an, China.

HRS Control has demo units of Picturall Octo available now. Octo and Octo+ may be rented or purchased from HRS Contol, which also offers operator training to customers.

Wirebox Media Provides Production Services for Auburn University Last Roll: NEXO System Plays Key ‘Role’

BUENA PARK, Calif.—Wirebox Media of Smyrna, GA was selected by Auburn University to provide production services for the Auburn Oaks Celebration at Toomer’s Corner that included a block party and “One Last Roll” of the historic oak trees. The event took place in late April just after a record-setting attendance at the spring football game. The attendance at Jordan-Hare Stadium was over 83,400, and the downtown celebration was thought to be very close to that number. Auburn Oaks rolling has been a tradition for nearly 80 years; the trees are then replaced by live oaks.

The audio production system selected by Wirebox Media was centered around a NEXO GEO S 12 loudspeaker system and NEXO PS15R2 and PS10R2 monitors. “The NEXO system is consistently predictable, and sound fantastic,” states Tim Harrigan, Owner, Wirebox Media. “This job, in particular, proved the ease of use for the GEO S12 Series as we didn’t even have time to tune the system before the show and made very few adjustments in the first few minutes.” A total of 32 NEXO GeoS12 cabinets were configured as 10 per side for main hangs with an additional 6 per side for out fills, all powered by 8 4×4 NXAMPs.

“Staging a block party in three hours was not that simple,” says Harrigan. The complexity of the event snow-balled in the ten days Wirebox had to prep for the event that involved a nationally attended press conference with VIP’s from AU and the city, highlighted by a kabuki drop for the new architectural plans for the area, a spirit rally headed by the AU Band, and the event finale featuring a concert by local band Kidd Blue.

“Design and planning was key as the day was really four separate events: load-in/setup, press conference, spirit rally, and concert,” Harrigan notes. “This was all compounded by the three-hour setup time and the massive crowd. We could not have successfully completed this without a stellar crew, great clients and the cooperation of the City of Auburn, the Chamber of Commerce, and the Auburn Police Department.”

New PESA easyPORT Modules Provide Flexible HDMI Distribution

Huntsville, Alabama – PESA, a leading U.S.-based custom design and manufacturing company for professional audio and video signal distribution, will showcase its four new easyPORT™ compact switching throw-down boxes to support HDMI signal distribution at InfoComm 2013 (Booth 2958), which runs June 12-14 in Orlando, Fla.

The EASY-2HX4B distributes or switches two HDMI inputs to four independent SDI video sources, simplifying cable and power management at the desktop when you need to convert two HDMI inputs to share across multiple SD/HD or 3G-SDI video transports. With the built-in switch feature, you can switch any two HDMI sources to any or all of the four SDI outputs.

A companion throw-down box, the EASY-4BX2H offers flexibility at the studio workstation where up to four SDI video input feeds can be converted and switched to two different HDMI video displays. Users can now select from four SDI sources in about the same space as one 3G-SDI-to-HDMI converter. With its built-in switch, the EASY-4BX2H allows users to view the same image on both displays, or select different sources for live preview and monitoring.

The easyPORT modules can be configured via an Ethernet connection for remote control room management or configured and switched locally through the mini-USB control port. Cattrax, PESA’s included software GUI, offers a powerful set of tools to manage, switch, and diagnose internal settings for the new easyPORT modules.

Offered with coaxial 75 Ohm connections, the EASY-2HX4B and EASY-4BX2H can be extended up to 80m away using typical RG-6/U coax. The EASY-2HX4F and EASY-4FX2H fiber versions offer standard LC-type SFP pluggable modules, with support for distances up to 600m over multi-mode or 10km over single-mode fiber.

“The new easyPORT HDMI extenders make it easier than ever to integrate HDMI sources into video transport,” said Dan Holland, PESA vice president of product marketing. “With built-in network management capabilities and support for very long cable runs, these new easyPORT HDMI extenders are the perfect choice for remote site applications.”

Some of the most compact switching throw-down boxes available, easyPORT modules are easy to setup and offer significant size and power advantages over standard single-port converters – with added port options and built-in switching capabilities. For back room installations, PESA offers a 1 RU rack power distribution tray that holds up to four easyPORT modules, which are powered by a single power source to reduce clutter.

Hybrid’s New Sport Track Technology Enables Robotic Cameras to Automatically Follow Live Sports Action

Using “Robotic Camera Operators” Cuts Live Sports Production Costs

Montrouge, FranceHybrid, a leading provider of real-time graphics and robotic camera systems, has developed Sport Track, an exclusive, innovative technology that enables robotic cameras to automatically follow live game action.

The breakthrough technology sends the positional tracking data from the manned master camera to an unmanned slave camera so that it can follow the game’s movement.

“Sport Track enables sports broadcasters to reduce the number of manned cameras required to cover a live game,” said Olivier Cohen. “It not only reduces operating costs, it also enriches the quality of the program. Broadcasters and production companies can employ more cameras to cover the game while staying within increasingly tight, competitive budgets.”

When Hybrid began developing Sport Track one year ago, the technical challenge was daunting. While robotic cameras have long been used in fixed positions, Hybrid faced a new question, ‘How could a robotic camera be made to see and follow fast moving live game action like soccer or football in real-time?’

After considerable trial and error, Hybrid discovered the answer. A manned Cartoni motion tracking pan/tilt/zoom/focus (PTZF) camera serves as the master camera, which is networked to a Hybrid Titanium robotic camera head.

Using the newly developed software and drivers from Hybrid, all of the camera data—including position, angle, distance, and speed—is optically tracked, encoded and transmitted by the Cartoni camera over to the Titanium robotic camera head. These coordinates “tell” the Titanium (robotic slave) camera head how and where to move to follow the game action precisely.

“The idea for Sport Track was originally inspired by Host Broadcast Systems (HBS), who approached us with a need for this technology in the coverage of their live soccer championships,” said Cohen. Owned by Infront Sports & Media, HBS is the host broadcaster of major sporting events, including the upcoming 2014 FIFA World Cup Championships in Brazil. “We also found tremendous interest in this automatic camera system when we spoke with sports broadcasters and producers at the 2012 IBC Show and the 2013 NAB Show—who wanted to increase the number of cameras for a more visually interesting live game without increasing operating costs.”

Vaddio Launches IP Video Streaming Support for ClearVIEW HD-USB Cameras

Vaddio, the global leader in robotic PTZ cameras and camera control systems, announces a major software update to the ClearVIEW HD-USB PTZ camera. In addition to the current USB streaming, version 2.0 allows for IP HD video streaming and remote PTZ camera control through the Ethernet network interface. Integrators now have the design flexibility to choose between USB or Network streaming – all in one device.

Streaming Protocols supported are Real Time Streaming Protocol (RTSP) and HTTP Live Streaming (HLS). Encoding for video will be H.264 (Main Profile) and the audio encoding will be AAC. Streaming adaptive network bandwidth allocation is supported with Adaptive Bitrate technology by detecting a user’s bandwidth and CPU capacity in real time and adjusting the quality of a video stream accordingly. This results in a smoother more life-like motion streaming experience. Supported resolutions include both SD and HD high definition resolutions up to 1080p.

“We have been asked by our integrators for a number of years to build IP video streaming into our camera systems,” explained CEO of Vaddio, Rob Sheeley. “We also knew that if we were to give them streaming, we would also have to give them remote IP PTZ camera control as well. Now they can control the camera from wherever they are watching the stream. This latest free software update to the ClearVIEW USB PTZ camera does all this and more.”

For more information on the ClearVIEW HD-USB Camera Version 2.0.0 upgrade please visit the Vaddio website at www.vaddio.com
