MGP Pro HDCP-Compliant Multi-Window Processors Now Shipping

Extron Electronics is pleased to announce the immediate availability of the MGP 462 Pro and MGP 464 Pro, two new powerful, high resolution multi-window processors that enable the simultaneous display of multiple images on a single screen — two windows for the MGP 462 Pro and four windows for the MGP 464 Pro. Full HDCP compliance at all HDMI inputs and outputs assures worry-free presentation of protected content. The MGP Pro also provides two simultaneous outputs that generate HDMI and RGBHV video, simplifying integration with different display devices. The MGP 462 Pro and MGP 464 Pro are ideal for applications that require side-by-side display of critical quality graphics and video content from multiple sources.

“With the MGP 462 and 464 Pro, integrators can display HDCP-encrypted content in multiple windows, easily incorporating digital video sources into AV systems,” says Casey Hall, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Extron. “These multi-window processors switch HDCP-encrypted content quickly and reliably, providing performance and flexibility in mission-critical applications.”

To enhance and simplify integration of sources and displays, the MGP 462 Pro and MGP 464 Pro feature Key Minder®, an Extron-exclusive technology that authenticates and maintains continuous HDCP encryption between input and output devices to ensure quick and reliable switching. In addition, the MGP Pro includes Extron’s innovative Graphic Still Store, a feature that enables screen captures of the current output, or images uploaded from a PC, to be stored for use as presentation background images. Live video from an HDMI source can also serve as the background to any presentation.

For large-scale applications, two or three MGP 462 Pro or MGP 464 Pro units may be cascaded to create displays with six to 12 windows. Optional HDMI and 3G-SDI/HD-SDI inputs enable easy integration of digital video sources into AV systems, and together with the HDMI output, allow the MGP 462 Pro and MGP 464 Pro to operate within an all-digital video system.

Elk Grove Village, Ill.—The First Midwest Bank Amphitheatre is located in Tinley Park, Illinois, forty minutes south of Chicago. Owned by Live Nation, the First Midwest Bank Amphitheatre is Chicago’s largest outdoor amphitheater with a capacity of approximately 28,000.

Celebrating over 17 years of music history, the First Midwest Bank Amphitheatre typically hosts 25 concerts each summer season. Last.fm, a music service powered entirely by its community of listeners, along with local radio station Q87.7 Piqniq, hosted a 10-act festival at the end of June using Gand Concert Sound (GCS) aka “the NEXO guys” for audio production. Festival line up included the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Bush, Silversun Pickups, AWOLNATION, and Atlas Genius.

GCS brought in a NEXO GEO T system along with assorted audio gear including a new Yamaha CL5 digital audio console and DME64 used as part of the front of house mix rig. Main hangs consisted of 21 GEO T 4805s and three GEO T 2815s per side, seven GEO T 4805s and one GEO T 2815s per side used for out fills, along with 24 CD18s, six PS10R2s for front fills, and eight NX 4X4 amps.

Vincent Casamatta, front of house engineer for AWOLNATION said, “I told GCS tech Adam Rosenthal that the GEO T rig was spec’d, implemented and tech’d perfectly. I had a slamming show, one of the best sounding of this year.”

President Gary Gand said, “This will be a record breaking month for GCS. Our investment in NEXO puts us at the top of the call list when the big venues and national acts need pristine audio to the very farthest seat.” Gand was an early adopter of the NEXO GEO T tangent array system and its associated software.

GAVA rides on a LAN and controls all A/V, lighting and window shades using a web-based interface that can be accessed by any smartphone, tablet or computer. The HDMI over IP extender streams KVM (keyboard, video, mouse) signals over a Gigabit Ethernet infrastructure. Resolutions up to 1080p are delivered over the same CAT-5 cable as USB peripherals, analog audio, microphone in/out, RS-232 and IR. Multiple sender and receiver combinations are supported on the same network and can be placed up to 100 meters apart. Any smartphone or tablet with a web browser can control the switching of all the sources, displays and connected peripherals using GAVA.

GefenPRO HDVI to 3GSDI Scaler

Automatically switches between DVI and HDMI inputs and outputs video as 3GSDI with backwards compatibility with all SDI formats. When using HDMI as the source, up to eight channels of audio are supported and output as S/PDIF coaxial. Video can be scaled up to 1080p or 2k. Genlock frame synchronization provides advanced features such as adaptive video interlacing with edge interpolation, advanced noise reduction, alpha blending and image enhancement. The internal power supply provides better connectivity with no risk of accidental disconnection.

GefenPRO 3GSDI to 3GSDI Scaler

Fall Out Boy Hits the Road with RapcoHorizon RoadHog Cables

Band Also Relies on Company’s Custom Looms and Rack Panels for Pristine Audio at Every Performance

NASHVILLE, JULY 11, 2013 ― The RapcoHorizon Company’s RoadHog Cables (Summer NAMM, Booth 1112) will be live on stage when alternative rock group Fall Out Boy heads out on its U.S. Save Rock and Roll arena tour this fall. Fresh off a series of stops in the Midwest this June, the band relies on the RoadHog cables along with a series of custom looms and rack panels to ensure its fans get a top-notch performance every night.

Designed for the working musician, the RoadHog cables are road ready and tour tough, employing the most rugged constructions without sacrificing sound quality. Fall Out Boy will once again call on its RapcoHorizon cables this September to provide pristine sound in a durable casing.

“There’s a definite difference in the quality of RapcoHorizon products compared to other brands on the market,” says Fall Out Boy Guitar/Bass Tech Brian Diaz. “Like the RoadHog Cables, all of the gear they make is rock solid. We’re very happy with what we’ve gotten from them so far.”

RapcoHorizon RoadHog cables are designed to work perfectly no matter how often they are put to use. They are built with PVC outer jackets that are durable and thick, yet flexible, and pure copper conductors and shields. Another benefit of the RapcoHorizon cables is their ability to coil well. The quality of the cables and flexible jacket ensures that they not only lay flat on stage, but also roll up easily without causing bends. This design ensures that the RoadHog cables provide an advanced sound and reliable operation for Fall Out Boy and other touring bands.

“I was introduced to RapcoHorizon through our Front of House Engineer, Brent Okuley, who had been using the cables on a previous project with the band Underoath,” continues Diaz. “He’d had such a good experience with the company and its products that he suggested we invest in them for Fall Out Boy.”

Prior to using RapcoHorizon, Diaz was cutting cabling and creating looms entirely on his own from the limited resources he had available on the road. “I was just making looms and wrapping them up in zip ties or electrical tape,” he explains. “I also only ever used black cables and I would have to label them, but RapcoHorizon set me up with a variety of colors, whichever I wanted. They also have a very wide variety of products that I can choose from to make any type of custom-built loom or system. If I tell them I need something of a very specific length, like 47.5 feet, they’ll make it 47.5 feet for me. That’s pretty neat, because it cuts out a lot of extra work that I’d have to be doing to do that.”

Diaz is especially fond of the custom rear-mounted rack panels that were created for him by The RapcoHorizon Company. “The rack panels are really cool,” he shares. “I’ve had to make those before and I know it is very labor-intensive to make them. They require very specific settings, but RapcoHorizon will just make them and ship them out right away, which is a really big time-saver for me.”

Hailing from Long Island, NY, Diaz has been the guitar/bass tech for Fall Out Boy since 2006. In addition to working with Fall Out Boy, he also hits the road with the likes of Guns N’ Roses, Motion City Soundtrack, Anthrax, Primus and Sum 41. He also previously performed with the bands Edna’s Goldfish and The Reunion Show.

Fall Out Boy is currently promoting its new album, Save Rock and Roll, released on April 16, 2013. Spending most of the summer at home, the band will continue its U.S. tour on September 5, 2013.

The RapcoHorizon Company, located in Jackson, Missouri, is one of the world’s largest manufacturers and suppliers of audio, video, home theater, data and telecommunications interfacing products. Comprising RapcoHorizon, Momentum, Pro Co, Pro Co Data, RAT, RoadHog and StageMASTER, each RapcoHorizon Company brand has developed a reputation in many industries for reliability, and superior sound performance. Used worldwide by concert touring sound companies, video and sound contractors, recording studios, system integrators, audiophiles and musicians, the company’s products provide optimal flexibility and premium performance. The RapcoHorizon Company also has a state-of-the-art Custom Shop to modify existing products or build new devices to meet any need.
