Zylight Showcases Innovative F8 LED Fresnel at IBC 2013

LOS ANGELES – Zylight, a leading manufacturer of innovative LED lighting solutions, will showcase its range of LED instruments, including the new F8 LED Fresnel, at IBC 2013 (Stand 11.F56), which runs Sept. 13-17 at Amsterdam RAI. Available in tungsten (3200K) or daylight (5600K) versions, the compact F8 folds flat – collapsing to less than four inches thick – for easy transport and storage.

With a CRI (color rendering index) of 97 or better, the fully dimmable F8 offers and adjustable beam spread (16-70 degrees) for even coverage for widescreen productions. It maintains single shadow traditional Fresnel beam shaping through an eight-inch SCHOTT glass lens, and offers a patented focusing system for spot and flood operations.

The F8’s LED engine with quantum dot technology provides a cooler, more energy efficient light than traditional Fresnel instruments, but does not compromise performance. While it draws only 100 watts, it has close to the light output of a traditional 1000-watt Fresnel. It is also water resistant (IP54) for use in challenging location conditions, and can be powered by a worldwide AC adapter or standard 14.4V camera battery.

“We’ve designed the F8 to be a versatile, rugged light for studio and location work,” said Joe Arnao, president. “It’s bright like an HMI but better suited for run-and-gun news ENG applications – you just snap on a battery and go. In the studio, the F8 saves space and costs less to operate than traditional Fresnels.”

Like other Zylight models, the F8 is also equipped with ZyLink wireless technology, which makes it easy to link multiple Zylights for simultaneous remote control. As a result, several F8s can be grouped together and linked for unique lighting scenarios. The F8 can also be controlled via DMX.

The F8 includes a five-year warranty on the LED engine, and ships with barn doors and yoke mount. Additional accessories are available separately.

Sennheiser Delivers Unplugged Studio Performances During The Newport Folk Festival®, Bringing an Additional, Intimate Stage to Newport

Newport, RI – August 19, 2013 – Audio specialist Sennheiser once again created a truly unique performance environment at the Sennheiser Sound Lounge at the Paste Ruins during this year’s Newport Folk Festival®. In cooperation with Paste Magazine, Sennheiser hosted performances by Amanda Palmer, The Milk Carton Kids, Justin Townes Earle, Langhorne Slim and many others over the course of the nationally renowned three-day festival.

Sennheiser recorded and broadcast the performances to thousands of attending fans between Friday, June 26th and Sunday, June 28th using state of the art quality microphones, wireless systems and headphones from Sennheiser and an array of studio microphones from its German subsidiary, Neumann. Videos of the performances will be posted and shared on Sennheiser’s social outlets, including Facebook [www.facebook.com/SennheiserUSA] and YouTube [www.youtube.com/sennheiserusa] over the coming days and weeks. Watch for updates and more information on Sennheiser’s Twitter page [www.twitter.com/SennheiserUSA].

“We don’t just participate in events in the traditional and often static way,” said Stefanie Rei-chert, strategic marketing, Sennheiser. “We always look to create added value and deliver a deep and meaningful sound experience that only Sennheiser can deliver. We managed to do exactly that in Newport, and in the process we made several new friends who will not forget these special performances for a long while.”

Premium Technology Delivers Unique Experience, Adding Value to Newport

This is the second year in a row that Sennheiser and Paste Magazine have collaborated on these performances at Newport. The company’s proprietary wireless technology, paired with the historic and alluring atmosphere of the Fort Adams Ruins, evoke an atypical musical experience that fans cannot experience anywhere else. Many of the artists performed in an unplugged fashion, so audiences could experience the music in its most natural and pure form; for many attendees, this was a highlight of the festival.

“It was a privilege to once again welcome Sennheiser to the Newport Folk Festival®,” com-mented Jay Sweet, producer of the Newport Folk Festival®. “For the second year in a row, the inclusion of the Sennheiser Sound Lounge at the Paste Ruins truly enhanced the festival expe-rience for all guests and musicians alike. And, thanks to the quality footage, even those who could not attend can experience the unique sounds, sights and vibe that make the Newport Folk Festival® unlike any other festival, or place, on earth.”

Nick Purdy, publisher of Paste, added: “At Paste we love to show more than we love to tell – matching Newport Folk’s stellar lineup to Sennheiser’s headphones give us a chance to give music fans an experience they’ll never forget.”

As music fans such as those attending Newport become more sophisticated in their own musi-cal tastes, they are also becoming more demanding in how they listen to music. Sennheiser is able to deliver an authentic, high quality listening experience through the use of Sennheiser and Neumann microphones, as well as through its unmatched wireless and headphone expertise. The result is a listening experience worthy of both the most discriminating fan’s passion for mu-sic, and the artist’s unrelenting craftsmanship.

Fans who were not able to attend the festival in person will soon be able to experience the music through high-definition video and the very same microphone feeds that were used during the actual performances.

  • Tightrope Media Systems Revitalizes Sports Replay for MCP

Live production company cites stability, ease of use as ZEPLAY selling points

ST. PAUL, MINNESOTA, August 19, 2013Tightrope Media Systems is helping Mobile Content Providers (MCP) shift into high gear for live, instant sports replay with ZEPLAY. The cost-efficient, multi-channel instant replay system helps MCP maintain its affordable rates for live sports production, while injecting fresh excitement into broadcasts and on venue display screens for professional and collegiate events.

MCP offers affordable, full-service, mobile unit alternatives to generate content instead of the typical 52-foot expanding side trucks. The ZEPLAY is integral to MCP’s workflow, delivering multiple camera angles from two compact units. It also enables the team to quickly build show opens, highlight packages, bump-ins and other high-quality video clips with rapid turnaround.

Above all, MCP counts on ZEPLAY’s rock-solid stability and ease of use.

“ZEPLAY offers stability, which is everything when a production team does a live game for a major network. You can’t have equipment crashing, ” said Ray Colaiacovo, content development and mobile technology director for MCP. “The ZEPLAY is rightly publicized as the fastest replay system, but without stability and ease of use there’s confusion. You don’t have to understand a conventional replay system to operate ZEPLAY. An online editor such as myself from outside the live sports world can learn the system very quickly because of its simple interface.”

The four-in, four-out ZEPLAY design gives MCP 16 video channels across the two units for instant replay. This gives the production team the ability to easily scale to large camera counts, or simply have an extra ZEPLAY on backup for typical productions. This occasionally comes in handy for Colaiacovo.

“We recently did a professional tennis event, and the master control center experienced a satellite dropout during the live broadcast,” he said. “We recorded the program to a ZEPLAY channel on the second machine and replayed that segment from master control. This allowed for a clean airing with no signal dropout. Occasions like this that make our workflow extra appealing.”

Elsewhere, Colaiacovo and his team rely on ZEPLAY’s flexible tagging features for highlights and other packages, allowing operators to quickly locate player data, game information and other details. The built-in multiviewer also enhances operating efficiency within MCP’s compact units, saving space in comparison to large monitors and multiviewer walls that require more real estate.

“Our units are not conventional 18 wheelers, and ZEPLAY gives us a solid machine with plenty of features and flexibility, and integrates well within our compact workflow,” said Colaiacovo, who is currently preparing to unleash ZEPLAY for college and high school football season. “We simply wouldn’t be able to achieve what we do with a large, conventional, complex replay system.”

    About Tightrope Media Systems
Founded in 1997, Tightrope Media Systems is the pioneer of web-centric digital signage and broadcast automation systems. It provides station automation, video servers, internet video on demand, live streaming, the Carousel Digital Signage system, and ZEPLAY, a multi-channel instant replay machine for stadiums, arenas and Outside Broadcast vehicles.
