Sessions on Live Sound to Be Highlighted at 135th Audio Engineering Society Convention

— Live Sound Track events at the 135th AES Show will explore technologies and techniques in live sound, focusing on such topics as acoustics, Broadway theater sound, mic placement, mixing, networked audio distribution and much more —

New York, NY, September 5, 2013 — Always on the leading edge of professional audio, the 135th Audio Engineering Society Convention (Thursday, October 17, through Sunday, October 20, 2013, at the Javits Center in New York City) will again feature a Live Sound Track of events, bringing a high level of focus to key aspects of live sound, with expertise and insight shared by some of the industry’s top professionals. Reprising their roles as Co-Chairmen of the Live Sound Track for the convention, industry veterans Henry Cohen and Mac Kerr have consistently developed meaningful and significant sessions that draw large audiences including top professionals in the fields of live audio and sound reinforcement.

This year’s Live Sound Track will cover topics both core and emerging, from signal processing, grounding, loudness and metering, to the rapidly evolving domain of networked audio, where several sessions, such as “Audio Distribution Over Networks,” will address systems and protocols like Dante and Audio Video Bridging (AVB).

“The AES Show has always been an invaluable resource for information about both the art and the science of live sound,” observes Henry Cohen, who is also Senior RF Engineer with CP Communications. “Our goal is to provide greater knowledge of the technologies and techniques around live sound and do so with great detail and intensity of focus. All of the sessions offer a good balance between the science and math of live sound coupled with its practical applications. We develop sessions and panels for the Live Sound Track by following industry practices, emerging technologies and online SR forum discussions. Audio-over-networks has become a common method of signal transport, with new protocols and topologies being constantly developed. This Live Sound session, along with several other paper presentations, looks at the competing architectures and practices so the attendee can come away with a better understanding of what might be the best options for their particular needs.”

The roster for this year’s AES Live Sound Track features a mix of cutting-edge new topics and updated familiar subjects. Topics include:

AC Power and Grounding
Audio Distribution over Networks
Sound System Optimization
Speech Intelligibility in Stadiums
Production Wireless Systems: Tips and Tricks from the Experts
Audio for Corporate Presentations

At a time when many pro audio sectors are putting a heightened emphasis on live sound technology, from music to theater to corporate presentations and houses of worship, the AES is expecting a high turnout for these sessions, which run throughout the duration of the convention. If you are a live-sound professional, make the time to stay informed and competitive through these important sessions.
