MOZAEX SET TO SHIP BLUWAVS FIJI 7.1 HD AUDIO HEADPHONES; FIRST HEADPHONES TO SUPPORT BLU-RAY DISCRETE HDMI 7.1 HD AUDIO

Salt Lake City – September 18, 2013 – Mozaex™, the premiere manufacturer of multi-room Blu-ray entertainment servers and peripherals, announced today it will ship the new BLUWAVS™ FIJI 7.1 Headphones in October. BLUWAVS FIJI are groundbreaking 7.1 HD Audio headphones that include the first HDMI 7.1 headphone receiver. The company will be demonstrating BLUWAVS and their entire product line of Blu-ray entertainment servers during the 2013 CEDIA Expo, held at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver from Sept. 26 – 28, booth 1810.

BLUWAVS are first to support discrete HDMI 7.1 HD Audio Movies, Music, Games and TV

“After several years of development, I am pleased to announce that Mozaex is beginning shipments of the first headphones to support HDMI 7.1 discrete surround HD Audio,” said Mozaex CEO Douglas Kihm. “BLUWAVS are also the first headphones to include a ‘Blender’ receiver which allows users to easily fine-tune the volume levels of its ten discrete speakers to meet their personal surround sound preferences.”

BLUWAVS are designed to dramatically enhance the listening experience when privately enjoying movies, music, games and TV shows. BLUWAVS uniquely deliver a more immersive, enveloping sound by delivering the original uncompromised 7.1 channels of master studio quality, HD Audio. Traditional stereo headphones can only play 7.1 or 5.1 audio that has been down-mixed to two channels. The Blender receiver is designed to deliver optimum discrete speaker dynamic range, equalization and amplification which results in incomparable surround sound discreteness, clarity, and spatiality.

The BLUWAVS Blender allows the listener to instantly select their own personal audio profile for the richest, most enveloping surround sound experience. For example, the volume levels of the 10 discrete speakers and the bass boost level of the front speakers can be adjusted to create a warmer, deeper bass sound, or adjust the center and rear levels for louder movie dialogue and greater spatial effects.

BLUWAVS are perfect for those who own a luxury home theater or music listening room in a close quarters home, condo, apartment, or yacht and they want to hear the absolute best surround sound quality, even at full volume without disturbing others.

BLUWAVS are also essential for audio production engineers who need to listen to the discrete audio tracks of a movie, song or game as they are mixing the tracks individually or concurrently.

BLUWAVS Blender headphone receiver allows personalization of listening preferences

The Blender receiver includes a handheld remote control that can select a Blu-ray player, media server, CD or SACD player, game console, TV tuner, or other source via its (3) HDMI, (2) SPDIF, and (2) analog stereo inputs. The Blender has several remote control adjustable audio settings while the music or movie is playing including selectable pre-amp volumes and audio modes such as DTS®-HD Master Audio, Dolby TrueHD and Dolby ProLogic IIx, among others. Six front panel dials allow you to select the preferred volume levels of the front, sub, center, surround and rear 7.1 channels.

“This product has been a lifelong dream of mine,” said Kihm. “Many people like me want to enjoy a movie without disturbing others and relegating to mediocre two-channel stereo quality. BLUWAVS adjustable discrete volume levels are the perfect solution for those who like me with a hearing loss since you no longer need to turn on the sub-tittles to understand what they are saying. I’m hoping that once music producers listen to these headphones that a renaissance of HD surround music will be born.”

Added Kihm, “Over the past three years, we have worked with industry experts to design BLUWAVS to combine comfort with the clearest, most immersive 7.1 HD Audio for watching movies and listening to music. We are proud to have received the 2012 CEPro Best Award for BLUWAVS.”

BLUWAVS high powered vibration subwoofers eliminate headphone pressure and discomfort

Unlike traditional dynamic diaphragm 60 milliwatt speakers, BLUWAVS utilize high wattage surface conduction, vibration subwoofers. Driven by discrete 3-watt amplifiers the vibration speakers deliver high fidelity sound waves that you can literally feel. While traditional low powered headphones require a tight fit onto the listener’s ears that results in pressure, heat, and discomfort, the high-powered vibration speaker based BLUWAVS rest lightly on the listeners ears with little pressure, heat, or discomfort. BLUWAVS have soft leather over the ear cushions and weigh less than one pound.

BLUWAVS patent pending HDMI technology addresses a unique niche in a fast growing market

While the market for stereo music and gaming headphones continues to experience high growth with over $7 billion in global headphone sales, an un-served market exists for headphones with support for uncompromised 5.1 and 7.1 channel surround sound media, such as Blu-ray, SACD, games, and TV.

In spite of a general slowdown in consumer electronics, worldwide sales for headphones continue to experience rapid growth. As reported on February 6, 2012 by Gfk at the BADA (British Audio-Visual Dealers Association), UK sales of headphones are up 26.4 percent in value with a total UK headphone market “worth more than £163m which is equal to the ENTIRE market for hi-fi and home cinema sectors which has fallen to a 20-year low of £167m”.

Industry market trends indicate that the consumer demand for premium quality headphones continues to grow. BLUWAVS patent pending technology uniquely addresses the un-served premium quality, surround sound sector of the fast growing headphone market.

Only BLUWAVS delivers HDMI 7.1 HD Audio to a discrete set of speakers which allows the listener to experience the full audio bandwidth of a Blu-ray movie, SACD, or DVD surround sound album or game.

Most of the surround sound headphones are limited to supporting lower quality standard definition audio over USB or SPDIF interfaces while others offer “virtual audio technology” that attempts to create virtual 5.1 SD Audio using conventional two-speaker stereo headphones.

Only BLUWAVS support an HDMI interface which is required to deliver true discrete 7.1 HD Audio.

BLUWAVS meet dealer needs for a truly unique, value-added product

Kihm continued, “BLUWAVS offers our network of custom home electronic dealers the opportunity to expand their sales with a truly unique, value-added product. BLUWAVS are the perfect add-on peripheral to any mid to high-end home theater project.”

BLUWAVS meets MDU client needs for an unobtrusive way to enjoy HD quality entertainment

BLUWAVS offers a great opportunity to dealers to meet the growing needs of millions of people that live in condominiums and other Multiple Dwelling Units (MDUs), who are constrained from loudly playing their movies, music, and games on their home theater system. For example, in Europe, 50 percent of people live in MDUs. The United States has more than a third of all residents living in approximately five million MDU buildings with many owning mid- to high-end home theaters.

BLUWAVS are first to deliver DTS HD Master, Dolby TrueHD and LPCM HD quality audio

Blu-ray Disc® revolutionized home theater with its 1080p video and 7.1 HD quality audio formats. BLUWAVS 7.1 HD Audio delivers bit rates up to 27 Mbps which is 18 times the quality of standard definition stereo formats. BLUWAVs patent pending technology universally supports all popular HD Audio formats and interfaces, including DTS® HD Master and Dolby® TrueHD HD Audio and LPCM.

BLUWAVS are a perfect complement to the company’s BLUWAVS MUSIC store which includes more than 600,000 CD quality albums and soon hundreds of SACD 5.1 surround sound HD Audio albums.

USA and Canadian Pricing (Contact Mozaex for International pricing)

BLUWAVS FIJI includes a single FIJI headset and Blender receiver which supports one or two headsets. Additional FIJI Headsets are sold separately.

Bringing Pristine Audio into a Visual World: Sennheiser MKE 400 and MKE 600 Microphones Create ‘Gold Standard’ for Amateur and Semi-Pro Filmmakers

As Worldwide DSLR Market Continues to Grow and a New Social Video Culture Takes Hold With Innovative Platforms Such as Vine, Sennheiser Brings Audio Integrity into the Mix

Old Lyme, CT – September 18, 2013 — Sound has always been an integral element to modern filmmaking, and for decades Sennheiser has represented the ‘gold standard’ in capturing audio — both in the studio and on-location. Over the last several decades, sound mixers and boom operators have come to rely on both vintage and modern classic shotgun microphones from Sennheiser — including the ME 66, the MKH 416 and MKH 8060 — to make their films ‘come to life’ with dialog, effects and music. As devices such as DSLRs and smartphones continue to proliferate the consumer market — and as the use of innovative content sharing platforms such as Vine and Instagram become commonplace among consumers, Sennheiser is now bringing its microphone technology to an entirely new generation.

According to a press release by Transparency Market Research, digital cameras represent one of the most popular segments of the consumer electronics products market, and the worldwide digital camera market is projected to grow to 138 million units by the year 2015. Meanwhile, applications such as Vine and Instagram bring elements of immediacy and authenticity that were simply not available to the general videomaking consumer in the past. For amateur and semi-professional filmmakers, this means there has never been a better time to create and share video.

Enter the MKE 400, MKE 600 and KA 600i

Just as it has provided premium solutions to professional filmmakers for the last several decades, Sennheiser recently made its MKE 400 and MKE 600 shotgun microphones available to would-be filmmakers and video enthusiasts all around the world. These solutions, designed to be used in combination with camcorders, DSLRs and now smartphones, help content creators realize the dream of ‘no-compromise audio.’ These microphones focus on sounds in front of the camera, while attenuating unwanted sounds coming from the sides and rear. Both the MKE 400 and MKE 600 feature a universal shoe mount and have low cut filters, which help minimize wind noise in demanding situations.

With the KA 600i, Sennheiser makes it possible to capture high qualtiy audio with simply a smartphone, when used in conjunction with the self-powered MKE 600 microphone. As smartphones become more and more powerful, and applications become more creative and flexible, the KA 600i places an unprecedented amount of power into the hands of both amateur videographers as well as professional journalists and others capturing video while ‘on the go.’

What does sound mean to YOU?

Starting this week, Sennheiser is launching a contest directed to both amateur and semi-pro filmmakers. Entrants must answer the question “What does sound mean to you?” and will submit responses through the Vine app for iPhone and Android. One grand-prize winner will win a premium Sennheiser MKH 416 shotgun microphone, and second and third place winners will take home a new Sennheiser MKE 600 shotgun microphone. Interested participants should visit the Sennheiser website [http://en-us.sennheiser.com/avcontest] between now and October 7th; entries will be judged on creativity, originality, and use of audio.

PixelFLEX LED Video Curtains Deliver Impressive Visuals for Boots and Hearts Festival

Canada’s three-day country music festival, Boots and Hearts, is the largest of its kind to ever be hosted on Canadian soil and, with 25,000 spectators in attendance daily, it has become one of the largest in North America as well. The experience boasts top artists, such as Carrie Underwood, Tim McGraw, Jason Aldean, Miranda Lambert, Rascal Flatts, Kid Rock, and The Band Perry, along with a plethora of entertainment options throughout the weekend, including motocross shows, late night dance parties and impressive stage visuals. During this year’s festival, PixelFLEX facilitated the delivery of those impressive visuals on the Sirius XM-sponsored side stage through its high-quality, lightweight and flexible LED video curtain screens.

PixelFLEX provided 12 20mm panels for Boots and Hearts to deliver clear video content and effects to enrich the musical performances while also highlighting the festival’s sponsors. The panels are extremely lightweight and flexible, allowing them to bend or shape around structures without losing clarity. The panels also offer a solution for more delicate venues that cannot sustain a heavy screen, like the 30m by 55m tent covering the second stage at the festival.

“That particular staging had weight restrictions and I needed to find an LED video wall that was lightweight but could also achieve the visual goals that the client was after,” said Mitch Mazerolle of Metalworks, who served as production manager of ancillary stages for Boots and Hearts. “It turned out to be a great solution for this challenging situation.”

The panels were configured as a back wall behind the Sirius XM-sponsored stage and rotated different images across the screens throughout the day. During special events or performances, Adam Grosze, director of partnerships for the festival, mentioned that it was simple to change the video content from static images to a functioning video wall for the late night dance parties.

“The simplicity and ease of transition from one advertisement or sponsored segment to another was important to us,” said Grosze. “The PixelFlex screens were a great option and the ease of use and ability to integrate the panels across several different platforms was the biggest benefit of using PixelFLEX.”

Pleased with the ease of set-up and take-down, price and overall experience with PixelFLEX’s LED video
curtains, the Boots and Hearts team is looking at additional ways to use the panels at next summer’s festival.

Videos and images can be sent to the screen using any computer with a DVI-D connection – PixelFLEX LED Curtains are available from low resolution to high resolution, allowing users to demonstrate simple effects or elaborate videos. The high caliber visual components of the curtains come with equally impressive customer service assistance and without the need for an extensive budget.

HARMAN Professional Enhances Architectural Media Systems With Release Of HiQnet™ Audio Architect™ Version 1.1

NORTHRIDGE, California – HARMAN Professional today announced the introduction of its HiQnet Audio Architect version 1.1 professional audio configuration and control platform, an upgrade that brings new functionality and features, including control of Audinate Dante™-enabled devices, enhanced functionality for BSS Audio and Crown products, better on-screen control interfaces and other improvements.

Audio Architect is the software element of HARMAN’s Architectural Media Systems, and is a single control platform for all devices in a HiQnet sound system, from microphone to speaker. HARMAN Architectural Media Systems combines the processing power of BSS Audio and Crown Audio’s category leading amplifier technology with the configuration and control capabilities of HiQnet Audio Architect. This solution provides audio professionals with the most complete, versatile platform available for small to large-scale AV system design, with the single point accountability of one-stop comprehensive support and logistics. Architectural Media Systems provides networked audio connectivity via the designer’s choice of AVB, HARMAN’s proprietary BLU Link bus, Cirrus CobraNet or Audinate Dante.

To facilitate system setup, Audio Architect 1.1 utilizes graphical, diagrammatic representations of the installed or live sound venue, and the components and loudspeakers in the system. Devices “understand” both their physical and logical placement – in racks, arrays and rooms – and the software “learns” how they are to be used in the real world, while offering extensive setup and configuration capabilities, now further enhanced with version 1.1.

Audio Architect 1.1 now supports the Audinate Dante-enabled BSS Audio Soundweb London BLU-806 signal processor and BLU-326 I/O expander devices. Version 1.1 also enables signal naming and signal following in the software’s BSS Soundweb London Route Audio Mode, giving users the ability to trace signals quickly and easily through the open architecture of a BSS Soundweb London device and between Soundweb London devices over the network.

“The release of Audio Architect 1.1 reflects HARMAN Professional’s continued commitment to offering universal networking solutions with multiple transport options – HARMAN’s own BLU link bus, Audinate Dante and CobraNet® are all configurable in Audio Architect today. In a future version, AVB support will also be added, rounding out Audio Architect’s readiness for any networking application,,” said Adam Holladay, Market Manager, HARMAN System Development and Integration Group.

Further incorporating London Architect functionality, Audio Architect version 1.1 offers Soundweb London devices both 96kHz support and adds a FIR Filter Processing Object. In addition, Soundweb London Parameter presets and Device presets and can be dragged directly into controls in the Custom Panel Designer.

Version 1.1 now provides support for the Crown DCi 8|600N model of the DriveCore Install Network Series networkable amplifiers, which have BLU link connectivity and point-to-point audio networking compatibility with the Soundweb London family. Version 1.1 also supports the Crown USBX accessory that enables Crown XTi, CDi and DSi Series amplifiers with a USB port to be operated via an Apple iPad or iPhone.

Audio Architect 1.1’s Full Screen Mode has been improved, enabling it to more effectively run as a control application. Full Screen Mode is designed for the day-to-day operator and makes essential control panels and options readily available for each user, application and project.

HARMAN Architectural Media Systems is engineered to provide the best user experience for the designer right through to the operator. The systems are built upon a foundation of over 40 years of combined networking expertise, and provide category-leading scalability via distributed DSP architecture and the most transport-agnostic, flexible approach to audio network design.

Version 1.1 provides a number of additional enhancements and capabilities; more details are available at http://archimedia.harman.com.

The Networked Audio Track at the 135th Audio Engineering Society Convention Explores the Future of Audio Connectivity

— Every vertical market in the broad field of professional audio is being impacted by the transitions in networked audio, and this track addresses these changes with a series of presentations —

New York, NY, September 17, 2013 — Following the recent publication of AES67-2013, a new engineering standard for networked/streaming audio-over-IP interoperability, the 135th Audio Engineering Society Convention (Thursday, October 17, through Sunday, October 20, 2013, at the Javits Center in New York City) will present the Networked Audio Track, a comprehensive examination of the ongoing fundamental shift in networked audio. The traditional paradigm of transmitting audio and video media content over dedicated point-to-point cabling is being rapidly supplanted by methods of moving media content over data networks such as Ethernet, local-area networks (LANs) and IP-based wide-area networks (WANs). The Networked Audio Track, supported by the AES Technical Committee on Networked Audio Systems, explores the latest developments in methods, protocols and applications of every aspect of networked audio, from low-latency media distribution to command and control of networked audio devices, from Audio-over-IP to coding and error correction.

Chaired by Tim Shuttleworth, a noted expert in the domain of networked audio and the Engineering Manager at systems manufacturer Renkus-Heinz, the Networked Audio Track will cover the entire spectrum of this complex topic, while catering to audience knowledgeability levels ranging from entry level to expert. A partial list of topics covered in presentations, which take place from 2:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Sunday, includes:

Audio Distribution Over Networks
A Primer On Fundamental Concepts of Media Networking
Command and Control Protocols
Networked Audio Interoperability Standards

“Networking will influence every aspect of professional audio within the next several years, and it’s already well-entrenched in areas such as installed sound and live sound,” observes Tim Shuttleworth. “Networked audio is very rapidly integrating itself into the very fabric of pro audio, in a wide range of applications. As a result, learning as much as you can about networked audio is critical to furthering a career in any corner of the industry. This track was developed with that in mind, to offer a wide range of information to the widest audience possible.”

For further detailed information on the Networked Audio Track, visit http://www.aes.org/events/135/networkaudio/. For further information on the 135th AES International Convention, and to register for your free Exhibits-Plus badge or the premium All-Access badge, please visit http://www.aes.org/events/135/.

HARMAN’s Martin Lighting Shines Dynamic Perspective For French Fort Saint Jean

MARSEILLE, France — An essential French military complex for more than 400 years, the famous Fort Saint Jean has recently undertaken a massive renovation to return the legendary monument to its former glory. Located at the entrance of the Vieux Port of Marseille, Fort Saint Jean dates back to the 17th century and maintained a strong military role for the country. Now integrated into the museograhic entity of MuCEM, a museum of Europe and the Mediterranean, the structure and landscape offers visitors numerous Mediterranean style gardens to visit. In order to continue the experience after nightfall, lighting design company, L’Agence Lumière, designed and installed a HARMAN’s Martin lighting rig to brighten the symbolic monument.

Based on the intricate landscape design, the main challenge was transforming Fort Saint Jean into a new living space and nighttime walk area in Marseille. The lighting design would allow for guests to visit the many different areas of the fort after dark.

L’Agence Lumière used seventeen Martin Exterior 400 Image Projectors with rotating gobo and color wheels to illuminate the area. The Exterior 400 IP’s include seven 50-Watt white LED, which are powerful enough to guarantee a stunning visual impact of the landscape.

The light changes throughout the evening. At nightfall, the moonlight slowly surrounds the fort with a warm white light that takes over for the sunlight that shines during the day. Then, a more bluish light arises, accentuating the moonlight effect.

“On the impressive Place d’Armes or in the Cour de la Commande, the Martin lights add some texture, playing with shadows and contrasts. It gives the illusion that the ground is moving and vibrating,” explained Régis Clouzet, senior lighting designer and owner of L’Agence Lumière.

Other lighting elements of the renovation include Martin’s Exterior 410, Tripix Wash and Tripix 1200 to help the monument become a versatile area for different kinds of events. “During cultural events, this slowly-moving lighting is changed to a more festive ambiance,” added Clouzet. “Thanks to versatility of Martin, the area is capable of handling the needs of various cultural events organized by the MuCEM inside the Fort.”
