HARMAN’s JBL Professional Introduces 9320 Large-Format Cinema Surround Loudspeaker

HOLLYWOOD, Florida – HARMAN’s JBL Professional today announced the introduction of its 9320 Cinema Surround loudspeaker, a large-format loudspeaker designed for high power handling, extended bass response and wide dynamic range in professional cinema applications. The 2-way JBL 9320 features a 12-inch MB12-8 low-frequency driver and 2408H-1 high-frequency compression driver. The large JBL Progressive Transition™ rotatable waveguide ensures superior 120 x 60 degree coverage and smooth frequency response with the loudspeaker mounted horizontally or vertically.

“The JBL 9320 is ideal for cinemas, auditoriums, and venues where higher volume and a larger coverage area is needed from the surround loudspeakers, especially in a multichannel system,” said Chuck Goodsell, Senior Manager, Cinema, JBL Professional. “The 9320 delivers clear, powerful and articulate sound, to create an immersive movie theater listening experience. “

The high-excursion, heavy-duty MB12-8 low-frequency driver provides high power-handling capability and bass extension. The proven, industry-standard 2408H-1 high-frequency compression driver delivers exceptional clarity and resolution and is mated with JBL’s Progressive Transition Waveguide, which provides constant beamwidth and directivity across a 120-degree horizontal/ 60-degree vertical coverage pattern, along with smoother frequency response and a more seamless blend with the woofer. The waveguide is rotatable, enabling the 9320 to be used a vertical or horizontal mounting position.

The JBL 9320 enclosure is fitted with M10 threaded mounting points on the top and on the sides to facilitate U-bracket mounting. In addition, four M10 mounting points are located at the rear, arranged in a standard pattern to accept a variety of multi-mount brackets. The speaker terminals are located on top of the cabinet for easy access. The 9320’s enclosure is constructed of multi-ply birch coated with JBL’s rugged DuraFlex™ finish and is heavily braced to maximize low-frequency performance. A steel grille protects the drivers and gives the 9320 an understated, professional appearance.

AVW-TELAV Acquires Inventory of Clay Paky GlowUp Fixtures

AVW-TELAV Audio Visual Solutions, the technologically innovative, full-service presentation technology and staging solutions provider with state-of-the-art inventory in every province and all major cities coast to coast, has acquired Clay Paky GlowUp fixtures from A.C.T Lighting Canada Inc.

GlowUp is a portable, battery-powered luminaire based on durable, high-power LEDs for years of energy-efficient service. Power is stored in a rechargeable, lightweight lithium battery making the fixture easy to carry; it can be recharged 2,000 times without suffering from ‘memory’ or capacity loss. The battery eliminates the logistical headache of running cable at events, dramatically reducing set up time while saving money and improving safety. In addition, GlowUp is fully programmable allowing users to select scenes from a library containing dozens of suggested colors and a number of pre-programmed color-changing sequences.

AVW-TELAV placed half of its GlowUp inventory in its Vancouver office and split the other half between itsoffices in Toronto and Montreal.

“We were looking for something battery-powered,” says AVW-TELAV lighting director Daniel Sonenberg. “We wanted something to use in hotels where power and cable are not options and where we typically have a short time for set up. We did product comparisons among multiple brands and suppliers, and GlowUp had the best combination of intensity and low profile.

“If it wasn’t for A.C.T Lighting, I wouldn’t have known that GlowUp exists,” he points out. “Andrew Beck, general manager of A.C.T Lighting Canada, suggested them to me and gave me a demo unit to test. Now that we have received our own units, I’m doing a lot of demos for venues and clients.”

Sonenberg expects that AVW-TELAV customers will use GlowUp for pre-event coverage and galas. “They can make it look like guests are entering an event before they get to the event – like a red carpet,” he says. “As soon as guests arrive, they know they’re someplace special. GlowUp is usable outdoors, so that’s a huge plus. I’m a very big fan of wireless control, and GlowUp has it.”

Sonenberg is not only delighted to have discovered Clay Paky GlowUp but also pleased with A.C.T Lighting Canada’s renowned customer service. “Andrew Beck has been phenomenal in supporting us,” he reports.

Francesco Romagnoli, Clay Paky Area Manager for North and Latin America, comments, “Our GlowUps are great fixtures and it sounds like AVW-TELAV is putting them to great use. We look forward to hearing about some of the events they help to highlight.”

A.C.T Lighting is the exclusive North American distributor for Clay Paky.
