HARMAN’s Martin MAC Quantum Redefines Expectations

LAS VEGAS, Nevada — The market is asking for brighter and more compact LED wash lights. The new MAC Quantum Wash by HARMAN’s Martin, which launched at LDI 2013, Las Vegas, is the most powerful response yet to this need.

The MAC Quantum Wash features tight beams, beautiful wash fields, a market-leading color palette and uniform mixing that combines to accommodate the most demanding applications, offering brightness and perfection. Combining an impressive 750-watt of RGBW LED power with Martin’s market leading optical system ensures that the 1:6 zoom on the MAC Quantum Wash operates with maximum output and superior performance.

“By combining the lens shift possibilities first seen in the MAC Viper Quadray with the MAC Aura’s ground-breaking optical system, MAC Quantum Wash sets new standards for light and color morphing effects from a wash light,” says Peter Skytte, Product Manager, Martin Professional. “Putting together the new beam twister, the patented Aura™ effect and the nice wash capabilities sets new standards for what is possible with effects in a wash light.”

Built for most demanding applications
With its compact form factor, easy handling, high-speed movements, low noise cooling and rugged construction, the MAC Quantum Wash does not compromise on any aspect of what you expect from a wash light. Designed for demanding applications, the MAC Quantum Wash will be the new workhorse in your rig.

Expressive projection and aerial looks
The combination of technologies animates expressive projection and aerial looks, and also puts a great ‘face’ on the product – the synthetic look of LED lights is removed and the organic, analogue effect looks great to the eye and on camera.

“Throughout t the project it has been important for us to keep the MAC Quantum Wash as the brightest but also the best LED wash light in the category. Therefore, I was extremely pleased to see our R&D team managing to animate the wash and deliver beautiful and subtle looks without compromising the core part of the product – the wash,” says Peter Skytte, and concludes:

“We have had a fantastic market response and are already receiving an impressive number of order inquiries for the MAC Quantum Wash. We are preparing for a steep production ramp-up to expected delivery in quantity from February.”

Company Brings Certified Color Calibration at a Great Value Plus Colorific(TM) Image Quality to Premier Print Industry Event

COSTA MESA, Calif. — Nov. 21, 2013 — BenQ America Corp., an internationally renowned provider of visual display solutions, today announced its sponsorship of the Printing Industries of America (PIA) Color Management Conference (CMC) being held from Dec. 7-10 in Phoenix, Ariz. As a gold sponsor of the PIA CMC and the official projector sponsor for the conference, BenQ will be providing its new PG2401PT certified color management monitor and Colorific(TM) projectors for a variety of presentations, training sessions, demonstrations, and other brand-critical color development programs during the color management community’s premier event. BenQ will also be giving away a PG2401PT monitor at the conference and announcing the availability of a new 32-inch PG Series monitor for release in 2014.

Bringing together designers, brand managers, print production professionals, and color standards experts, the Color Management Conference provides a forum where users and industry specialists can network and learn about the marketplace’s latest technological innovations and business process developments. With a focus on communicating brand color, this year’s conference will discuss brand color integrity, colors standards, new monitor proofing software, and methodologies for maintaining brand color integrity across product lines via production processes aimed at keeping costs in line. Divided into four tracks, the conference will also feature keynote speeches by Adobe(R) Senior Creative Director Russell Brown and branding mastermind Sven Seger of FutureBrand.

“BenQ is looking forward to lending its support to such a creative class of experts at the PIA CMC,” said Bob Wudeck, Associate Vice President, Strategy and Business Development at BenQ America Corp. “Known for delivering Colorific image quality via our wide range of projectors, we are proud to present our new PG2401PT monitor designed to provide print media professionals with self-calibrating, certified, professional color management capabilities for cloud-based color accuracy at a very affordable price. As both an official sponsor and a participant in this year’s conference, we look forward to co-creating an inspiring event for the printing and graphic arts community.”

For the PIA CMC’s hands-on Mac Lab sessions, BenQ’s elegant PG2401PT monitors will be used in tandem with Mac(R) mini computers to provide participants with a variety of practice-based workshops ranging from photography color correction to soft proofing techniques. Engineered for creative professionals such as photographers, graphic designers, color retouchers, and printers, the new PG2401PT provides accurate and consistent on-screen color matching combined with reliable G7 and FOGRA printing-certified soft proofing precision at an incredibly affordable price of $999. To increase collaboration and simplicity for the creative process, the self-calibrating PG2401PT monitor covers 100 percent CMYK, 99 percent of the Adobe RGB color space, and is designed to take advantage of today’s most popular cloud-based color proofing services, such as Adobe’s Creative Cloud(TM) and PantoneLIVE(TM). In addition, the monitor comes equipped with intuitive software for self-calibrating and one-click proofing capabilities.

To enable total interoperability, the 24-inch PG2401PT provides dynamic connectivity options via input ports, which allow users to switch easily between different connected devices. This allows professionals to connect their PG monitor directly to a PC via DVI-D, HDMI(R), or DisplayPort, while Mac users can utilize a Mini DisplayPort to connect with the displays. A USB 3.0 port/card reader is also available to facilitate fast file transfers. To further simplify operation and increase comfort, the monitors are ergonomically designed with a wide adjustable stand, and an on-screen display allows automatic rotation to either portrait or landscape mode. To ensure smooth proofing, the monitor comes equipped with a shading hood that eliminates distracting glare effects.

As the event’s official projector sponsor, BenQ’s versatile W1500 wireless projector will support bigger and brighter presentations in the main session room. Using Colorific image quality, the device has been designed to deliver accurate, crisp, and long-lasting image quality while casting an amazing one billion colors within corporate, presentation, creative, education, and home theater settings.

National Renewable Energy Laboratory Installs Dedicated Biamp Audio Systems in High Tech Energy Systems Integration Facility

The U.S. Department of Energy’s Primary National Laboratory for Renewable Energy Research Benefits From Audia(R)/Nexia(R) Audio System Combination

BEAVERTON, Ore. — Nov. 21, 2013 — Biamp Systems, a leading provider of innovative, networked media systems, today announced the installation of an Audia(R)/Nexia(R) audio solution combination in the newly built Energy Systems Integration Facility (ESIF) at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) in Colorado.

As the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) primary national laboratory for renewable energy and energy efficiency research and development, the ESIF houses 200 researchers and staff in eight diverse work spaces. Each of the spaces was uniquely designed to fit the research and testing needs of the different work groups and include:
- A 3D collaboration lab
- A control room that monitors and controls the facility processes
- A visualization center where experiments being performed in the electricity, thermal, and fuel labs can be visualized on a large, high-definition screen
- Conference rooms of various sizes throughout the facility

The architectural firm of record, SmithGroupJJR (SGJJR), engaged Convergent Technologies Design Group to design an audio solution to fit the distinct needs across the varied spaces. Audia and Nexia’s flexibility and modular DSP architecture allowed Convergent Technologies to design the best audio solution for the new building. Through this dynamic design partnership, the NREL facility is not just unique among similar types of facilities, but is one of the most technologically advanced in the world.

“Early involvement in a project is key,” shared Paul Corraine, president of Convergent Technologies Design Group. “Our long relationship with SmithGroupJJR enabled us to forecast and creatively solve for many unique needs the NREL had, while developing a seamless technological solution.”

“Biamp is excited that we could help facilitate an audio solution for the design team at CTG and SmithGroupJJR,” stated Michael Frank, mid-Atlantic regional manager for Biamp Systems. “We’re committed to providing our consultant and integrator partners the equipment and services to deliver innovative audio systems.”

Denon Professional Now Shipping DN-700R Network SD/USB Audio Recorder

New Networking Capabilities Simplify Recording, Archiving, and Distribution of Audio Files

ITASCA, Ill. — Nov. 21, 2013 – Denon Professional, a leading provider of media management and distribution systems for professional applications, today announced the availability of its new DN-700R network SD/USB audio recorder. Designed to facilitate recording within today’s wide range of audio applications, the DN-700R records WAV and MP3 audio files to solid state media storage drives including SD/SDHC and USB. A network-based device, the DN-700R allows users to easily program the unit for scheduled events, record and play back material automatically, and designate locations for audio transfer over or outside networks — eliminating the need for on-location media retrieval and manual transfers to standalone computers.

With its USB port and two SD/SDHC slots, the 1-RU DN-700R enables audio recording in MP3 using full bit rate, stereo, or mono formats and WAV recordings in uncompressed PCM files up to 24-bit 96kHz. For increased ease-of-use, the unit features new network functionalities that allow users to schedule up to 30 record and 30 playback events while providing the capacity to manage and archive files onto networks via FTP automatically. Ideal for installation-based settings such as courtrooms, higher education institutions, houses of worship, conferencing facilities, boardrooms, and broadcast monitoring environments, the DN-700R’s balanced microphone/line inputs allow the unit to satisfy the requirements of portable and rental recorder scenarios.

The DN-700R’s new dual record feature enables recording to two separate media devices simultaneously for backup and redundancy. For true nonstop recording, the DN-700R uses its relay record mode so when storage expires on a primary media unit, the device automatically switches to the secondary media source, enabling unsupervised, around-the-clock recording when used in conjunction with the device’s auto-archive and auto-delete functions. The new unit also provides unbalanced and balanced inputs/outputs for both analog and digital formats, enabling new microphone level balanced inputs with +48V of phantom power.

With a dramatically improved Web-based GUI — now featuring three-level security — the DN-700R allows users to set up and control the unit easily from any browser-enabled handheld device including smartphones and tablets. For further control, the device provides TelNet over IP, RS-232C, GPIO, and USB keyboard compatibility. Now fully integrated with Denon’s Product Manager application, users can easily manage multiple DN-700Rs across entire network infrastructures.

“Our new DN-700R was designed to be the simplest SD/USB audio recorder on the market by bridging the gap between traditional A/V sources and the world of information technology,” said Karl Gustafson, director of marketing at D&M Professional. “Loaded with auto-operation capabilities such as new networking functions, the device is extremely easy to use in both highly advanced recording systems or within more modest settings — allowing users to spend less time on the management, retrieval, and archiving of audio. When adding in the unit’s great value, the DN-700R is truly unique in its ability to provide reliable, affordable, high-performance audio recording without increasing complexity.”

Also available is Denon Professional’s DN-500R for recording applications where network capabilities and microphone inputs are not required. With single SD card and USB storage media slots for both WAV and MP3 recording, the DN-500R performs the same core functions and high-quality audio capabilities as the DN-700R.

Shipping now, the DN-700R and DN-500R are available for $1,099 and $799 respectively.
