JVC Unveils New Simulation Projector, Alternate Light Source at I/ITSEC 2013

WAYNE, NJ – JVC Professional Products Company, a division of JVC Americas Corp., will introduce its new DLA-2400ZG projector with e-shift technology and demonstrate an alternate light source for projectors at I/ITSEC 2013 (Booth 1419), which runs Dec. 2-5 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Fla.

The DLA-VS2400ZG delivers a 5.1 megapixel equivalent image via JVC’s proprietary e-shift technology, along with 18,000:1 native contrast ratio and a minimum of 900 ANSI lumens. It offers two HDMI inputs, as well as RS-232C and LAN connectivity for remote access and control, and its unique 120 Hz input interface means reduced image generator (IG) hardware requirements.

JVC will also showcase its newly developed alternate light source technology at I/ITSEC. Ideal for the simulation market, it preserves the native contrast ratio and dynamic range of images, with no restrictions on mounting orientation. Plus, it provides years of operation with reduced maintenance requirements.

“JVC continues to explore new technologies to improve images and performance,” said John Havens, marketing manager, JVC Visual Systems Division. “Our engineers are addressing the growing demand for a different type of illumination in future projects, which provides a more efficient light source without sacrificing image quality.”

The DLA-2400ZG is available now and includes a 2x zoom lens with manual focus and lens shift. The new projector is also available without a lens (DLA-VS2400G).

BenQ Releases Mac(R)-Compatible VA Monitor With ZeroFlicker(TM) Technology

New All-White VW2235H Brings More Comfortable Viewing Experiences to Mac and PC Users

COSTA MESA, Calif. — Dec. 3, 2013 – BenQ America Corp., an internationally renowned provider of stylish home and office monitors, today announced the latest advance from its award-winning VW white monitor series: the VW2235H 22-inch display. Now featuring ZeroFlicker(TM) technology, the monitor is engineered to eliminate traditional LED flicker issues — providing today’s creative and eco-friendly users with increased visual comfort during extended periods of use. The screen features full MacBook(R) compatibility, VA panel technology, and BenQ Senseye(R) Human Vision technology to make the pure white device the ultimate combination of forward-thinking performance and avant-garde design.

With its asymmetrical build and minimalist appearance, the VW2235H makes a bold statement within a world of standard-looking screens. With no printing, coating, or adhesives on the surface, the monitor provides an uncomplicated look made to complement any of today’s classrooms, medical labs, graphic design and architectural studios, corporate environments, or home office settings. In addition to its design, the VW2235H now features ZeroFlicker technology. Designed to eliminate the rapid flicker rate — or flashing effect — from backlight controllers, the new technology uses an innovative lighting system to provide a softer screen experience. As a result, users experience better visual performance and can take part in longer viewing sessions without compromising comfort.

Lee Neikirk, Staff Writer for Reviewed.com, commented: “This elegantly designed monitor from BenQ is pretty to look at, and boasts great contrast to boot&It’s a handsome display–more than a few co-workers felt the need to stop and take a closer look at it&I was especially impressed by this monitor’s contrast ratio. Usually, general-use monitors like this one test with mediocre black levels, as they simply need to be bright enough to combat basic lighting. The VW2235H is plenty bright, but also offers users the added bonus of a deep black level, which is going to make film content and video games look that much better.”

Using BenQ’s exclusive Senseye Human Vision technology, the VW2235H enables users to connect to any MacBook using the monitor’s M-book mode. The result is the recreation of authentic MacBook picture quality on the larger, wide aspect ratio display. Other preset Senseye calibration settings include BenQ’s “Reading Mode,” which automatically adjusts the monitor to simulate the warmth of reading paper, and an improved “Eco Mode,” which balances performance with energy efficiency to reduce power consumption by up to 44 percent.

To ensure optimal picture quality, the VW2235H uses True-Black Color to provide deeper black tones and minimized light leakage, ensuring flawless layering and precisely contrasted details. For even sharper images, the monitor’s ultra-high native contrast ratio of 3000:1 — three times higher than traditional displays — adds astonishing color depth to bring new levels of crispness and clarity to content. The 8-bit VA panel also provides smoother and more stable color transitions by rendering an amazing 16.7 million simultaneous color shades while giving users full 178°/178° wide viewing angles to make the VW2235H an impressive provider of lifelike color performance.

For space-savings and ergonomic efficiency, a device holder at the base of the monitor offers a practical solution for iPhones(R), iPods(R), and other close-at-hand devices. To turn the VW2235H into a full entertainment hub, the device features the latest HDMI(R) high-speed multimedia interface and D-sub/DVI connection to enable easy linkage to gaming consoles, Blu-ray(TM) players, and additional computers. Both Windows(R) 8 and Mac compatible, BenQ’s all-white VW2235H monitor features a mercury-free LED display, BFR/PVC-free casing plastics, and eco-friendly ink on its packaging to keep workspaces free from harmful chemicals.

“Our new VW2235H monitor is the market’s first ZeroFlicker display specifically created for today’s design-conscious settings and eco-friendly lifestyles,” said Bob Wudeck, Associate Vice President, Strategy and Business Development at BenQ America Corp. “Building on the success of our award-winning all-white VW series, the newest version of our Mac-compatible monitors enables users to experience a heightened sense of comfort for longer viewing sessions while enjoying the same performance features that made the original version such a success. Essentially, we’ve taken the market’s smartest choice for eye-pleasing performance and design and made it even smarter.”

Just in time for the holiday season, the VW2235H is available now and retails at a price of $179. More information on the full line of BenQ products is available at www.BenQ.us.

Front Porch Digital Receives 2013 Global Frost & Sullivan Customer Value Leadership Award

DIVASolutions and LYNX(SM) Platforms Edge Out Competitors and Empower Smaller Media Companies in Price-Sensitive Global Digital Archiving and Media Asset Management Market

LOUISVILLE, Colo. — Dec. 3, 2013 — Front Porch Digital, the global leader in cloud-based content storage management (CSM) solutions, today announced that international research and business-consulting firm Frost & Sullivan has recognized Front Porch Digital with the 2013 Global Frost & Sullivan Customer Value Leadership Award. After recent analysis of the digital archiving and media asset management market, Frost & Sullivan determined that Front Porch Digital is leading the competition in a highly competitive and price-sensitive market through its DIVASolutions and cloud-based LYNX(SM) platforms.

“Frost & Sullivan is a well-respected voice in the world of business growth and leadership,” said Mike Knaisch, Front Porch Digital president and CEO. “To receive this prestigious award is proof positive that our customer-centric approach to workflow improvement has worked to ensure our customers see a noticeable return on their investment.”

Frost & Sullivan found that, unlike large media companies and broadcasters that can afford to invest in expensive digital archiving and media asset management solutions, regional and local broadcasters shy away from complex, high-cost solutions despite the acute need to manage exploding amounts of digital data. Its research showed that Front Porch Digital bridges this market gap and leverages the unique opportunity to cater to cost- and quality-conscious clients.

Front Porch Digital’s DIVASolutions can manage content from production through delivery and archiving with a series of collaborative workflow solution suites. The Frost & Sullivan research showed that DIVASolutions are well-accepted by price-sensitive customers that seek pure archival management solutions, which are now required in a workflow that must control and manage live feeds. Adopters have proved to have more efficient workflows in terms of the number of promos that go on air at a given time and the benefits of increased library space in cloud.

Front Porch Digital is also one of the earliest in the industry to offer solutions optimized for CSM through the cloud. The LYNX cloud-based disaster recovery and media asset storage service was pilot-tested in many parts of Europe and the U.S. in 2012. Over the past 11 months, the company has collaborated with some of the largest media companies in the world to manage production content on live platforms with LYNX. In addition to contributing toward substantial cost-savings over expensive on-premise deployments, LYNX can also be seamlessly integrated with DIVASolutions workflows.

“Front Porch Digital continually strives to innovate to offer highly functional and cost-effective content management solutions to its broadcast clients in the global arena,” said Maria Flora Chazoor Paul, research analyst at Frost & Sullivan. “As a result, now broadcasters can not only realize the value proposition of storage and content management, but also a reduced total cost of ownership by getting all of it through the cloud. Front Porch Digital has a thorough understanding of regional market dynamics, which has empowered many broadcasting clients to leverage its LYNX cloud-based offering as a key platform to engage with price-sensitive customers in emerging markets, and that is why Frost & Sullivan is proud to recognize the company with this award.”

Each year, Frost & Sullivan presents the Global Frost & Sullivan Customer Value Leadership Award to the company that has demonstrated excellence in implementing strategies that proactively create value for its customers with a focus on improving the return on the investment made on its services or products. The award recognizes the company’s extraordinary focus on enhancing the value that its customers receive. Award-winning companies go beyond simply good customer service, which leads to improved customer retention and, ultimately, customer base expansion.

The customer value leadership award is a part of the Frost & Sullivan Best Practices Awards, a group of awards that recognize companies in a variety of regional and global markets for demonstrating outstanding achievement and superior performance in areas such as leadership, technological innovation, customer service, and strategic product development. Industry analysts compare market participants and measure performance through in-depth interviews, analysis, and extensive secondary research in order to identify best practices in the industry.

Masque Sound Ushers Sennheiser’s New Digital 9000 Wireless System onto the Great White Way

Leading Theatrical Sound Integrator Represents the Pinnacle of Audio Innovation, Offering its Clients ‘No Compromise’ Quality and Reliability from Sennheiser

Old Lyme, CT, December 3, 2013: Audio specialist Sennheiser announced that Masque Sound, a leading sound reinforcement, installation and design company, recently took delivery of a new Sennheiser Digital 9000 wireless system. The new acquisition enables Masque Sound to offer its clients the newest and most advanced wireless audio system ever manufactured by Sennheiser.

Masque Sound is a third generation company that has been providing Broadway and many large-scale touring productions with the most innovative audio solutions for over 75 years. The highly respected company counts timeless productions such as The Lion King, MAMMA MIA! and The Phantom of the Opera among its clients.

“There has been overwhelming demand among key designers and theatrical sound professionals to demo and use the Digital 9000 wireless system from Sennheiser,” commented Scott Kalata of Masque Sound. “We felt the Digital 9000 was an outstanding investment considering its quality and flexibility, especially as it relates to the upcoming frequency challenges our industry will be facing. We are very pleased to have such an innovative RF system in our possession and so far our clients are really looking forward to getting their hands on it.”

Every Sonic Picture Tells a Story

Kalata recognizes that Broadway productions require the best possible audio quality to help convey a story, and that today’s audiences expect nothing less than a moving and realistic audio experience: “Today’s sound designers want audio content to sound as neutral and as realistic as possible,” Kalata states. “They clearly want to move away from the companding artifacts that are always present to some degree and can compromise analog RF systems. The sonic difference between legacy and fully digital Sennheiser radios is night and day to even the casual listener.”

The Sennheiser Digital 9000 features completely uncompressed audio, artifact free wireless performance and superb dynamics while making frequency coordination nearly effortless. These features make it a top consideration for theatrical, broadcast and demanding live performance applications.

On Broadway, there are inherent challenges to achieving a clean wireless signal given the close proximity of television stations, radio broadcasts and other interference generating venues. The Digital 9000 enables seamless frequency coordination within extremely congested environments: “We need to make sure everything is coordinated to work within the local RF environment,” observes Kalata. “Remember, on 44th or 45th street in Manhattan, there could be over a hundred radios working at once, so this can be a huge challenge. Our testing of the Digital 9000 showed that it is incredibly robust and immune to extraneous frequencies, whether they are analog or digital. Because of this, we will be able to use it in environments where traditional analog radio might not be able to operate reliably.”

Masque Sound has an impressive track record of innovation, and prides itself on being one step ahead of client demand: “We were the first company to send a digital mixing console out on the road for a major musical tour back in the early 2000s — at that point, nobody had done anything on that scale,” says Kalata. “The Sennheiser Digital 9000 represents a similar innovation, so we felt was had to be involved with it very early on. We aim to always be a leader in the marketplace, not a follower.”

FSR’s GV Expo / GovComm13 Exhibition Plans Offer Something for Everyone

Government Attendees Get First-Hand Look at Company’s Rugged Lines of HDMI Cables, Fire Resistant Boxes, Installation Tools and a Multi-User Collaboration System

Washington, DC – FSR, leading manufacturer of a wide variety of products for the audio/video, education, hospitality, government, and religious markets, will command an audience at this year’s co-located Government Video Expo / GovComm13 shows in Washington, DC (Booth 522). This year, attendees in the government and military fields will get a first-hand look at the company’s new Digital Ribbon mega-bandwidth HDMI cables, FRK Fire-Resistant Floor Box System, DR-Sock Cable Pulling Tool and HuddleVU multi-user collaboration system.

“We are excited to bring our newly expanded and varied lines of products to the government and military market at this year’s GV Expo / GovComm13 co-located shows,” said FSR president Jan Sandri. “Our industry award-winning products, such as our Digital Ribbon Cables that were singled-out earlier this year at InfoComm 2013, and our other product families are must-haves for these professionals working in the broadcast, Pro AV and installation markets. We look forward to showcasing our reliable and diverse lines and new technology solutions to this important and ever growing market.”

Based upon a proprietary composite technology, FSR’s Digital Ribbon Cables offer users the capacity to carry 1080p and 4k x 2k HDMI signals up to 325 feet, nearly twice that of other “extended” solutions, with crystal clear accuracy. The product’s ultra-simple, fast installation (just pull and plug), and money-saving ability to operate without transmitters or receivers add to its appeal.

The company’s new FRK Fire-Resistant Floor Box System expands the versatility of its floor box line by providing enhanced, fire-resistant versions of its existing products. FRK kits are UL listed and comply with UL 263 Fire Resistance Ratings. Systems are available in a number of configurations, available online at the company’s website.

FSR’s new DR-SOCK is a handy and affordable cable-pulling tool designed to simplify and accelerate every installation requiring cables and connectors. Intended for every installer’s toolbox, DR-SOCK is pre-assembled, easily accessible in frustration-proof packaging, and re-useable. It protects cables and connectors from being damaged by taking the stress off the connection points while pulling through a conduit. The design opens up to 1.25 inches, and features brightly colored sleeve tips to enable easy identification, and a steel ring to allow quick and positive attachment of a pull snake. DR-SOCK can be used to safely pull FSR’s new Digital Ribbon Cables as well as others with connector shells.

The HuddleVU collaboration system allows for multiple users to share and view their laptops, tablets, and smart phone screens on a main display. Unlike conventional presentation systems, anyone participating can be a presenter or an audience member at any given time at the push of a button. LED’s indicate which user is currently live and when the system is busy.

As always, all FSR products are made of durable materials in the USA.

NEUTRIK ANNOUNCES NEW powerCON TRUE1 CONNECTORS

Charlotte, NC – December 2013… Neutrik USA, the leading supplier of robust and reliable professional connectivity solutions for audio, video, and data, is pleased to announce the introduction of the new powerCON TRUE1 connectors. As a new connector series in the acclaimed powerCON line, the powerCON TRUE1 connectors is Neutrik’s third and best-yet powerCON product and elevates the product line to an entirely new level. These new connectors make an outstanding choice for a wide range of applications and are very well suited for use in the pro touring and special event markets.

Of particular note, the new powerCON TRUE1 connectors are Neutrik’s first true mains connector with breaking capacity according to IEC 60320 and UL 498 standards. This feature enables these connectors to be connected and disconnected under a live load. The UL and VDE certified, single-phase system is designed for 16 A, 250 V. The cable connector comes with an integrated twist-lock mechanism.

Equally significant, the new powerCON TRUE1 connectors are represented by the model designations NAC3FX-W and NAC3MX-W, where the “-W” indicates weather resistance. Being IP65 weather resistant certified, these new connectors have water sealing gaskets at the rear—thus eliminating the need for overmolding in order to achieve IP-rated performance.

Another noteworthy attribute of the new powerCON TRUE1 connectors is that they are offered in both male and female genders, enabling cables to be easily chained without the need for couplers. Additionally, powerCON TRUE1 is a complete system encompassing an in/out duplex chassis connector for devices that get daisy chained, such as lighting fixtures.

Peter Milbery, President of Neutrik USA, Inc., commented on the new powerCON TRUE1 connectors, “With its distinctive black-and-yellow color scheme, powerCON TRUE1 represents a significant step forward in design. The connectors have been updated with new Torx type screws; the proven Neutrik bayonet locking system prevents inadvertent disconnection. The IP65 certification is very assuring for outdoor events where moisture is a concern, and the fact that the cables themselves can be easily daisy chained adds to the system’s versatility. Further, although the new powerCON TRUE1 connectors are not backwards compatible with the original blue and gray powerCON connectors because of the breaking capacity requirement, these new connectors do intermate with all NAC3FX and NAC3MX connectors that are already out in the field”

Both the NAC3FX-W and NAC3MX-W connectors are expected to be available in December. For additional information, please contact Neutrik USA at 704-972-3050.

Timeline Television Helps Build Communications for New BT Sport Studios on Riedel Artist Digital Matrix Intercom System

WUPPERTAL, Germany — Nov. 28, 2013 — Riedel Communications, a leading provider of real-time video, audio, data, and communications networks, today announced that Timeline Television is using an Artist digital matrix intercom system within the new BT Sport production hub in London’s Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park to support the live broadcast of its new sports entertainment channels BT Sport 1 and BT Sport 2, as well as ESPN. The flexibility and reliability of the Riedel intercom system helped Timeline Television play its part in BT Sport’s launch of the new state-of-the-art studio complex.

“Communication is at the heart of broadcast operations, and without it, we can’t make television,” said Daniel McDonnell, managing director at Timeline Television. “For a sizeable installation such as the BT Sport project to be completed within the very short time frame, all technology needed to be best-in-class. That’s why we chose the Riedel Artist system, which we know to be a reliable communications solution that meets the high performance requirements of such a large production facility.”

Within an incredibly challenging space of just five months, Timeline Television helped to transform part of the former International Broadcast Centre at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park into the new home of BT’s new sports channels. The impressive facility includes three large TV studios, seven sports production galleries, a master control room, 20 edit suites, a dubbing theater, and an audience holding area.

The Riedel system, installed by Timeline Television in conjunction with systems integrator Megahertz Broadcast Systems, includes three Artist 128 mainframes distributed across the campus. This system provides more than 150 talkback panels in the facility’s production areas, allowing staff to communicate across the facility, as well as with production teams in OB units at other external sites and other key suppliers such as playout partner Red Bee Media. Because BT already uses Riedel equipment at its BT Tower facility, the company was able to connect the two production centers easily via VoIP.

The ambitious construction program began in earnest in February 2013, with BT Sport and its production partners moving into the newly outfitted facility in July and the high-profile multichannel and multiplatform launch following just four weeks later on Aug. 1. By programming and testing the entire Riedel system off-site prior to installation, Timeline Television was able to save valuable time and maintain its ambitious delivery plan. Once taken live, the Artist system provided production and technical staff with a straightforward and easy-to-use solution for flexible and reliable communications.

Further information about Riedel and the company’s products is available at www.riedel.net.

Biamp Systems’ New Vocia(R) Paging Station Kit and Software Simplifies Paging System Interface

Vocia Introduces Single-Button Simplicity for Zoned Paging and Interface for Fireman Panel Connectivity

BEAVERTON, Ore. — Dec. 3, 2013 – Biamp Systems, a leading provider of innovative, networked media systems, today introduced the newest additions to its public address and voice evacuation system: Vocia(R) PSKIT-1 interface kit and 1.5.2 software. The new PSKIT-1 paging station kit and latest software update are designed to provide greater ease-of-use and streamlined communication in paging systems that incorporate third-party components.

The PSKIT-1 is a standalone paging station kit that allows for direct connection to third-party equipment, such as legacy paging stations and fireman’s microphone panels. The PSKIT-1 features embedded DSP and on-board memory to support standard and advanced public address and mass notification functionalities. The PSKIT-1 can store 999 user-defined page codes, and device-specific configuration information is stored locally within the unit.

The Vocia 1.5.2 software update enables one-button paging functionality across all of the Biamp(R) advanced paging station devices (DS-10, WS-10, EWS-10, PSKIT-1). This streamlined functionality facilitates quicker page message delivery while allowing end users to define single-digit custom paging codes.

“Biamp’s addition of the PSKIT-1 lets integrators and consultants design a Vocia paging solution, whilst allowing them to keep the paging stations a customer is comfortable using,” said Graeme Harrison, executive vice president of marketing, Biamp Systems. “The software update continues to add more value by providing end users with a faster, simpler one-button message interface.”

The Vocia 1.5.2 software update is available for download at www.biamp.com. The PSKIT-1 will be available in February 2014.
