Women in CE Announces Lineup for Third Annual Career Enhancement Forum: The Power of Connectivity

Charlotte Beers, Author of ‘I’d Rather Be in Charge,’ to Deliver Opening Keynote

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Feb. 26, 2014 — Women in Consumer Electronics (CE), an industry organization that promotes the advancement of women in the CE industry, today announced that registration will open on March 15 for the third annual Women in CE Career Enhancement Forum titled “The Power of Connectivity.” Taking place on June 24 at the Rubin Museum of Art in New York City, the event will be held in conjunction with CE Week and is hosted by Women in CE. The forum will kick off with a networking breakfast, followed by a full day of sessions, workshops, and keynote speakers that relate to career enhancement for all corporate, small business, and entrepreneurial women pursuing a career in consumer electronics. A closing reception will wrap up the day’s events.

At “The Power of Connectivity,” attendees will be treated to an opening keynote by Charlotte Beers, CEO, chairman, Undersecretary of State, teacher, and author of “I’d Rather Be in Charge: A Legendary Business Leader’s Roadmap for Achieving Pride, Power, and Joy at Work.” Currently serving on the Board of Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, Beers has received a number of accolades throughout her remarkable career, including the Distinguished Service Medal — the State Department’s highest honor — and induction into the Advertising Hall of Fame.

Returning to the Career Enhancement Forum to lead a featured workshop is Sam Horn, ideapreneur and author of “POP! Create the Perfect Pitch, Title and Tagline for Anything.” In her presentation “Intrigue: Create Interest, Earn Respect, Connect With Anyone,” Horn will provide audience members with new and inspiring ways to scale their influence and win buy-in from busy, distracted decision makers for priority projects. In addition, award-winning news and technology journalist Andrea Smith will present the featured workshop “The Power of Connectivity.” In this workshop, Smith will discuss social media best practices geared toward professional empowerment and promoting business success.

Featured panels at the event will be led by Samantha Smith, executive vice president of Etail Eye, North America, and Deena Ghazarian, vice president of sales and finance for Monster Products Inc. Smith will lead a spirited discussion with women who have truly mastered the power of connectivity in “The Power of Connectivity Success Stories.” Ghazarian, a 2014 Women in CE Legacy Award Honoree, will lead “The Power of Lean in Circles,” where she will introduce the Lean in Circle as made popular in the book of the same title by Sheryl Sandberg.

“Connectivity is changing the business landscape, and our third annual Career Enhancement Forum is dedicated to providing women with the tools they need to harness its power to drive success,” said Carol Campbell, founder of Women in CE. “We have an incredible lineup of speakers and panelists set to explore connectivity on many levels, from social media to peer groups, and are excited to have Charlotte Beers deliver the opening keynote. Previous year’s events have sold out quickly, so we encourage attendees to register early to secure their spots.”

The forum, to be held at the Rubin Museum of Art at 150 W. 17th St. in New York, is open to women working in all segments of the CE industry, including manufacturers, major retailers, specialty retailers, suppliers, integrators, distributors, manufacturers’ representatives, buying groups, and consultants. Additional sessions will be announced soon.

Early bird registration for the Women in CE Career Enhancement Forum opens March 15 and ends on May 15 for a $50 savings. For members, the early bird rate of $199 expires on May 15, and a standard rate of $249 will apply while seating lasts. For non-members, the early bird rate of $249 expires on May 15, and a standard rate of $299 will apply while seating lasts.
