BHV Broadcast to Show Seriously Expanded Video Ghost Series at NAB 2014

Video Phantom Power System to Offer HDMI Monitoring, a Rack-Mount Version, and a Digital Signage Solution

Owslebury, UK – BHV Broadcast, manufacturer of compact, cost-effective equipment for live and post-production will show a seriously expanded Video Ghost series at NAB2014, Booth C 3841.

• Video Ghost – Sleek, sexy and affordable, Video Ghost lets you run power and serial digital (SD/HD/3G) video over a single coaxial cable. Video Ghost now offers enhanced cable length performance up to 200m from the camera or monitor and a maximum power output of 65W (both ratings may depend on signal format and application). Multi-layer protection circuitry prevents inadvertent damage caused by mis-connection. This powerful alternative to batteries is especially relevant for installing cameras or monitors where the supply of power is difficult or hazardous, such as gantries, stage sets, sports arenas and amphitheatres.

NEW at NAB – Ghost now provides optional HDMI monitoring of SD/HD/3G video feeds.

• GhostRack – On show for the first time! The rack-mounted version of BHV’s friendly spirit offers 4 channels of Video Ghost Power Over Coax in a 2RU x 19″ rack case with integral power supply and front panel monitoring. Ideal for mounting in an OB and powering four remote monitors or cameras over the video cables!

• Video Ghost is being introduced as a low-cost and reliable power source for Digital Signage applications. The ‘fit-and-forget’ system provides an innovative and unique way to get power to a monitor on a stage floor or in an arena roof, and eliminates the need for local mains power for monitors.

“Video Ghost is ideal for short-term or permanent applications that utilise monitors for digital signage such as entertainment venues, retail establishments and houses of worship,” explained Julian Hiorns, BHV Broadcast’s managing director. “Operational benefits include portability and rapid deployment – important features for mobile productions and difficult locations where monitoring is required, and the flexibility to send or receive video signals and DC power wherever and whenever the need arises.”

BHV Broadcast’s Syntax Up-Converter Series Adds Closed Captions Capability

First US Demonstrations of Syntax Bridge Slated for NAB 2014 in Booth C3841

Owslebury, UK – BHV Broadcast, manufacturer of award-winning rate-converters, up-converters and the innovative coax-powering solution Video Ghost, will introduce the US market to Syntax Bridge at NAB 2014. The newest member of the Syntax up-converter series provides closed captions capability via integration with Microvideo’s HDB 300 data management system. The first US demonstrations are slated to be held in Booth C3841 at the LVCC.

Syntax Bridge, recipient of TV Technology’s IBC 2013 STAR award, was developed in response to the growing global requirement for closed captions as part of the retention of metadata through the broadcast chain. Now broadcasters and producers can enjoy the benefit of Syntax’s unrivalled quality HD up-conversion with closed captions. BHV’s award-winning Syntax up-scaler integration with Microvideo’s HDB 300 (which in itself provides simultaneous data management of control signals, trans-coding, decoding, bridging and copying) will allow broadcasters to utilize the artefact-free performance of the Syntax in distribution and production chains with massive metadata handling capability.

BHV Broadcast’s managing director, Julian Hiorns, commented “The combination of BHV’s extraordinary Syntax up-converter combined with Microvideo’s HDB 300 provides an unparalleled solution to the latest closed caption compliance requirements. We’re delighted to demonstrate this exciting new technology at NAB and make it available in the Americas.”

BHV’s Syntax series uses Super-Resolution Bandlet technology, a natural successor to motion compensation, for virtually transparent conversions.

BenQ Becomes the Fastest Growing Display Brand in North America

Brand Loyalty Attributed to Customer Support, Forward-Thinking Innovations, and Value-Driven Pricing

COSTA MESA, Calif. — March 13, 2014 — BenQ America Corp., an internationally renowned provider of visual display solutions and the world’s No. 1 DLP(R) projector manufacturer, today announced that the company has become the fastest growing display brand in North America for both its projector and monitor categories, according to recent market research studies. In addition, BenQ’s award-winning W1070, the world’s first Full-HD 1080p projector for under $1,000, was the top-selling home entertainment projector in the U.S. retail channel in 2013, according to PMA’s Retail Projector Tracking Service.

To become the fastest growing mainstream projector brand in North America, BenQ grew unit sales more than 40 percent in 2013, and clearly outperformed the overall projector market(1). Now among the industry’s top brands, an increasing number of consumers, schools, and businesses across the U.S. and Canada are turning to the company’s Colorific(TM) projectors to deliver accurate, crisp, and long-lasting color to classrooms, boardrooms, and home theater settings.

Even more impressive was BenQ’s growth of more than 50 percent in the LED monitor category from 2012 to 2013. The company’s award-winning collection of RevolutionEyes(TM) mainstream, professional, and gaming monitors allows users, including business and creative professionals as well as hobbyists, to experience the forefront of LED technology for incredible on-screen precision, blazing-fast response times, and enhanced visual comfort.

“2013 was a standout year for BenQ,” said Bob Wudeck, Associate Vice President, Strategy and Business Development at BenQ America Corp. “Our market breakthroughs in home theater projectors such as the W1070 and new product categories like the RL2455HM professional console gaming monitor enabled our customers to grow much faster than the market and generate significant incremental impact to their bottom lines. We are looking forward to expanding our assortment of Colorific projectors and RevolutionEyes monitors to set the trend for new market segments in 2014.”

BenQ’s price-defying W1070 Colorific projector was the top-selling home entertainment projector in the U.S. retail channel in 2013, according to PMA’s Retail Projector Tracking Service, and was the No.1 model in December 2013, achieving 19.8 percent of unit market share among consumer mainstream models(2). The W1070 delivers unparalleled performance by giving consumers access to advanced features such as Full-HD 1080p 3D projection utilizing the high-end DLP(R) Dark Chip 3 (DC3) — typically reserved for higher-priced models. To lower total cost of ownership, BenQ’s SmartEco(TM) energy-saving technology provides extended lamp life on the company’s projector lines, resulting in up to 10,000 hours of lamp power without any compromise in projection quality.

For monitors across all product lines, BenQ’s RevolutionEyes technology delivers exceptional visual performance while reducing eye fatigue for maximum comfort during normal users’ daily and extended periods of monitor usage. Advanced features such as ZeroFlicker(TM) eliminates traditional LED flicker issues, while Low Blue Light technology removes up to 70 percent of blue spectrum light to protect vision during prolonged usage periods. The end result is striking visual clarity, seamless motion fluidity, and enhanced viewing comfort for any application. BenQ’s highly acclaimed gaming monitors are also at the forefront of innovation. With user-specific features such as Black eQualizer, which allows players to adjust brightness without over-exposing white levels in order to reveal critical combat details within darkened areas, BenQ delivers the ultimate gaming experience for pro gamers and gaming enthusiasts alike.

House of Worship Drives Triple-Screen Projection with Matrox TripleHead2Go

Catalina Church uses TripleHead2Go external multi-monitor adapter to revitalize its stage and enhance audience engagement

Matrox® Graphics Inc. today announced that Tucson-based Catalina Church created its new visually-stunning triple-projector setup using a Matrox TripleHead2Go external multi-monitor adapter. Sound and visual technology experts CCI Solutions recommended the low-cost, easy-to-use multi-monitor solution to drive dynamic, inspirational content across the three-screen-configuration, resulting in a revitalized stage design that has enhanced worship engagement.

Matrox TripleHead2Go at Catalina Church

Already familiar with TripleHead2Go for other house of worship installations, CCI Solutions connected the adapter to an Apple® iMac desktop computer to support three Christie® projectors. Featuring a compact black box design, TripleHead2Go easily connects to iMac computers via the Thunderbolt™, Mini DisplayPort™, or Mini DVI video output—depending on the model—without a need to open up the system. The installed RenewedVision™ ProPresenter® lyric and media presentation software meanwhile permits church staff to easily manage video and graphics on the screens, which can serve as a decorative design element, complementary showpiece for musical performances, or even an enlarged reading surface for lyrics or text.

“Visually our space used to have no focus and getting people to engage in worship was a challenge,” said Brian O’Morrow, worship pastor at Catalina Church. “Not only does our triple-screen system look amazing, it is super simple for our volunteers to use and helps us create the engaging, interactive experience we were hoping for.”

Nexidia Announces Nexidia QC(TM) 2.1 for Caption and Language Verification

ATLANTA — March 12, 2014 — Nexidia, developer of dialogue and audio analysis products and technologies for optimizing audio and video media, today announced Nexidia QC(TM) 2.1, the latest release of its software tool to automate quality control of closed captions, video description, and languages for broadcast and IP workflows. Nexidia QC 2.1 features new integrations and enhancements, including the ability to retime captions, that make the tool even more effective at saving time and operating costs and helping customers avoid costly mistakes and potential fines.

“Since its introduction a year ago, many in the industry have recognized Nexidia QC as a unique and essential tool for verifying languages and caption quality, so we’re committed to ensuring that the product evolves to keep up with the needs of the industry,” said Drew Lanham, senior vice president and general manager of Nexidia’s Media and Entertainment division. “This latest version integrates with two of the most popular production automation solutions available, which makes it even easier for those users to adopt Nexidia QC into their workflows.”

Nexidia QC 2.1 features enhanced job reporting and automated caption retiming, which retimes live captions for subsequent re-use and corrects sync problems caused by frame-rate conversion. Although many tools fix caption timing for frame-rate conversion, Nexidia QC 2.1 is the first to automatically correct live caption timing issues.

In addition to the currently supported AmberFin Unified Quality Control (UQC) integration, Nexidia QC 2.1 expands integration to include Telestream Vantage. Now Vantage users can seamlessly integrate Nexidia QC tests and actions using the Vantage workflow designer.

Nexidia will demonstrate Nexidia QC 2.1 at the 2014 NAB Show in booth SL12517. The product can also be seen working within the AmberFin UQC environment at AmberFin’s booth (SU8505). Nexidia QC 2.1 will be available in May 2014.
