Kenneth Copeland Ministries Reaches Millions of People Around the World with Sennheiser and Neumann

Sennheiser 2000 Series Wireless System and Neumann KK 204 Capsules Play an Integral Role in KCM’s Mobile Worship Team, With Live Broadcasts from Around the U.S.

Newark, TX, March 18, 2014: Kenneth Copeland Ministries has been an important contributor in the Christian community since 1967, reaching over 60 million people through its various faith-based outreach activities. In addition to the KCM broadcasts, which reach an international audience of over 100 countries, the Ministry regularly provides humanitarian and disaster assistance through its KCM Relief Fund, which recently helped provide Haiti with $2.7 million of medical supplies and 7,000 pounds of antibiotics. KCM broadcasts its meetings from various arenas, conferences centers and ballrooms around the country using Sennheiser wireless equipment combined with microphone capsules from Neumann.

KCM’s mobile set up includes (4) Sennheiser EM 2050 dual channel receivers and (8) Sennheiser SKM 2000 handheld transmitters, each coupled with Neumann KK 204 cardioid capsules. “We have a very small rig, but it sounds great and saves us a lot of time,” explains Jesus ‘CHUY” Esquivel, Event Tech Coordinator/Audio Engineer for Kenneth Copeland Ministries. “We reviewed top of the line microphones from other manufacturers and the Sennheiser / Neumann combination was so clear, it was like night and day compared to all the others.”

The recently acquired system covers all the needs of the KCM worship team. The switch to Sennheiser was made after the production team faced quality and reliability issues while using products from other manufacturers: “Very often, we had trouble with RF while using other systems Esquivel reports.”With our new Sennheiser equipment, we have overcome all of these difficulties.”

In addition to the rock-solid reliability of the 2000 series wireless system, Esquivel says overall ease of use was a big differentiator: “Setting up frequencies on the EM 2050 is fast and easy,” he says. “Now, our system set up takes between 15 to 20 minutes, whereas before it took almost two hours to scan and set up with other systems. This is important because we have other things to do.”

Esquivel and his team appreciate Sennheiser’s Wireless System Manager (WSM) software, which comes bundled with the EM 2050 system and provides unparalleled access to its wireless set up via remote control. “It is very useful, especially to monitor frequencies,” says Esquivel. “Having the ability to adjust frequencies, monitor battery levels and mutes is very reassuring in both rehearsals and live performance.”

Stepping Up to Neumann
Since the music in each worship service is unique and includes a variety of vocalists, it was important for KCM to choose a microphone capsule that could deliver consistently outstanding performance. “Each of our singers is totally different,” says Esquivel. “And with the Neumann KK 204 capsules, they can perform as they like without feeling limited. If there is part of a song that is quiet, the capsule is open enough to capture every nuance to develop the sound that we need.”

The KK 204 microphone capsule is specifically designed for the Sennheiser SKM 2000 handheld transmitter. Each capsule delivers a full, transparent and naturally warm sound, and a single polar pattern design enables a uniform response across the entire frequency range. This contributes to the KK 204′s excellent gain before feedback performance. “There is something about the combination of the SKM 2000 transmitter and KK 204 capsule that makes the sound,” Esquivel continues. “It is so crisp and bright and you can hear every breath a performer takes. It is also very natural — the way the voice comes out is the way the microphone captures it.”

While relatively compact, KCM’s acquisition of Sennheiser and Neumann equipment has taken its performances to the next level. “Music plays a very important role in our ministry outreach” concludes Esquivel. “We have been very pleased with how the system from Sennheiser has been working and it has made a measurable difference in the quality of our worship services.”

New Perceptual Test Method Yields Most Accurate Results Available in an Automated Measurement System

CAMPBELL, Calif. — March 18, 2014 — Video Clarity Inc., provider of market-leading audio and video quality measurement and analysis systems, today announced the release of MOVIE for ClearView, a new perceptual test method for the ClearView line of video quality analyzers. MOVIE (for Motion-based Video Integrity Evaluation) creates a new level of accuracy for measuring video quality because it yields results that are closer than ever to human perceptions of video quality. MOVIE improves accuracy for content originators, broadcast operators, broadcast transmission equipment manufacturers, and consumer electronics manufacturers that use ClearView analyzers to ensure the best viewing experience, operate more efficiently, meet SLAs, and stay in compliance.

Though subjective viewing of video to make final product and network-path quality decisions will never go away, MOVIE for ClearView analyzers gives discerning users in both R&D and network operations departments a new advanced measurement tool that decreases the need for time-consuming, subjective in-house viewing and audience-based quality assessment projects.

ClearView analyzers use several proven test methods to arrive at a measurement of subjective quality that very closely approximates what the average person would see and hear when watching the video. Adding the full-reference MOVIE test to ClearView systems gives users the highest correlation to human subjective quality available in an automated measurement system.

“Customers are continually looking for better, more accurate ways to measure and track video quality, whether they’re developing an encoder/decoder or other processing product, or running an entertainment network processing-path application. The science of predicting human perception of video quality is not 100 percent accurate. The higher the correlation to subjective data sets, the better. MOVIE provides a closer correlation than most available methods because it takes into account the spatial and temporal changes from frame to frame that affect quality. With MOVIE, ClearView systems now include a metric measurement that estimates frame-to-frame effects on quality, thereby addressing a demand for higher accuracy as correlated with well-known subjective data sets that use the recommended ITU-R BT.500 method.

Representing Industry’s First Universal Monitoring Solution, MPEG Series Offers Valuable Format Flexibility and Significant Cost and Space Savings

SAN FRANCISCO — March 18, 2014 — Wohler Technologies today announced that it will showcase its MPEG Series DVB-ASI and IPTV monitors, the industry’s first universal monitoring solutions, at the 2014 NAB Show. The MPEG Series enables a single operator to monitor all video streams, even those destined for delivery via Web portals and mobile services, from a single system and interface. This consolidation of MPEG-2 and MPEG-4/H.264 streams into the mainstream workflow significantly reduces the cost and complexity of handling the various streams processed and distributed by today’s broadcast and production facilities.

“Uniting the functionality of four discrete monitoring systems into one solution, our MPEG Series products address broadcasters’ need to minimize the space and power requirements of their monitoring operations while maintaining the utmost flexibility in handling video signals,” said John Terrey, vice president sales at Wohler. “Taking the place of an IRD feeding into a video monitor, audio monitor, and an MPEG analyzer, MPEG Series monitors offer a highly efficient and cost-effective alternative for monitoring video signals in a wide array of formats.”

Wohler MPEG monitors decode and provide at-a-glance monitoring of program content from MPEG-2/4 ASI and Ethernet IP streams, as well as SD/HD/3G-SDI inputs. The MPEG video monitors identify, decode, and display both MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 signals (input via BNC or Ethernet) in high resolution while giving users the ability to browse the PAT, PMT, PID, EIT, and NIT data (both ATSC and DVB tables) for each selected stream. In addition to MPEG ASI and dual-input 3G/HD-SDI with loop-through, the MPEG monitors accommodate HDMI video and audio with level meters, GPI, and tally.

Convenient monitoring capabilities include Dolby Digital and Digital+ decoding, as well as the capacity to decode as many as 12 audio groups. In-picture level metering of up to 16 audio channels is provided for both average and PPM (peak) levels with selectable meter scales. Throughout the 2014 NAB Show, Wohler will feature the MPEG-4290, a 4-RU system with two 9-inch screens; the MPEG-3270, a 3-RU system with two 7-inch screens; and the 2-RU MPEG-2443 with four individual 4.3-inch screens.

Vaddio’s EasyUSB Audio Bridge – Professional Audio USB Interface

Vaddio launches EasyUSB Audio Bridge for integrating professional audio equipment into USB-based PC applications – Unified Communications, lecture capture, recording or any other application that requires professional audio. Existing meeting room audio equipment can now be used with any UC soft client – Microsoft Lync, Cisco Jabber, Google+, etc.

Equipped with both balanced and unbalanced audio inputs/outputs for maximum flexibility, the Audio Bridge easily integrates with external audio mixers, wireless microphones, amplifiers, powered loudspeakers – any audio I/O devices that require USB integration.

Professional audio equipment connects to the AV Bridge with balanced line level inputs/outputs on a 3-pin Euro Terminal block. Unbalanced audio inputs/outputs are supported with RCA connectors.

“The Audio Bridge converts the analog audio input/output signal into a USB stream detected by the computer as a USB sound input/output device,” explained CEO, Rob Sheeley. “As a result, the PC can control both input gain and output volume from the application (Cisco Jabber, Google+, etc.) and OS control panel. There is also independent USB and analog audio gain control. The gain structures can be configured between the pro audio equipment without being impacted by PC volume controls.”

Additional functionality includes, System Gain Lock for controlling AGC audio gain on the PC to eliminate interference with the external audio mixer’s AGC. Two conferencing mixing modes configurations are available: one is used when connecting to professional audio conferencing mixers with echo cancellation, while the second is used when connecting to audio equipment without internal echo cancellation. This feature improves performance with Microsoft Lync, Cisco Jabber and other soft clients.
