Kramer Introduces the PT-1C EDID Processor


Kramer Electronics, a worldwide supplier of innovative and reliable signal management products, is pleased to introduce the PT-1C EDID Processor.

The PT-1C draws its power from the HDMI cable and is housed in a compact Kramer Pico-Tools™ enclosure. The key to its versatility are the four DIP-switches located on the back panel.

Many installers have experienced problems with the way Apple handles HDCP, especially when integrating Video Conferencing systems. One of the DIP-switches on the PT-1C turns HDCP on or off. When placed immediately downstream from a Mac with the HDCP off, the Mac outputs a non-encrypted signal that solves these issues with Apple’s implementation of HDCP. The PT-1C does not bypass HDCP rules and cannot remove HDCP from a signal if it is present.

Another DIP-switch on the PT-1C limits color depth. In situations where bandwidth on certain legacy equipment does not support Deep Color, the PT-1C can be used to ensure that only 8-bit color is passed.

The audio DIP-switch provides a means for limiting the output of an upstream device to 2-channel LPCM (Linear Pulse Code Modulation) for cases where the target EDID is asking for an audio type that other system devices do not support.

Finally, the EDID lock switch allows the user to lock in the EDID from the connected display or other displays/EDID sources.

XOR Media Selects Matrox DSX LE3 SDI Card to Power MediaServer G

Matrox® Video today announced that video equipment manufacturer, XOR Media has exclusively chosen the Matrox DSX LE3 multi-channel SDI card, one of the Matrox DSX™ Developer Products, as the I/O and mixing engine for its new MediaServer G broadcast video server.

MediaServer G (MSV-G) is a HD/SD switchable play-to-air video server that internally delivers video playback as well as rich branding graphics. The system features 2D/3D design and play-out that provides tickers, subtitles, crawls, full scene anti-aliasing, scoreboards and credits. Both models meet all FCC Part 11 rules and conform to FEMA CAP v1.2 and IPAWS 1.0 standards, giving most low-power stations everything they should need for FCC EAS compliance.

The DASLC+ and DASLC+R are easy to set up and easy to use. Because all required reports can be emailed to specific station personnel, who only need to check if the unit emails a problem or doesn’t send a weekly or monthly report, it’s almost a set-and-forget EAS/CAP solution. While a new expansion slot assures scalability, an optional software license key allows each unit to be upgraded for full encoder/decoder operation. Users also can choose to enable the video output in order to view a full-screen video display of the EAS/CAP message.

RTW Loudness Tools First in New Range of RTW Masterclass PlugIns

COLOGNE, 2 APRIL, 2014 – RTW, a leading vendor of visual audio meters and monitoring devices for professional broadcast, production, post production and quality control, is pleased to announce the debut of its Masterclass PlugIns range at the 2014 NAB Show (C1246). The new software provides the company’s renowned metering tools as standard-format plug-ins for Windows and Mac OS platforms. The RTW Loudness Tools, scheduled for availability in May, will be the first of the company’s monitoring products available as part of the new range. This will allow a larger number of RTW customers to access its award-winning metering tools.

Each RTW Loudness Tools Masterclass PlugIn visually depicts audio with all relevant level and loudness values as specified by international standards. It conforms to the EBU R128 loudness standard, as well as SPL, ITU-R BS.1770-3/1771-1, ATSC A/85, ARIB, and custom (to set OP-59, AGCOM), making it ideal for audio and video engineers, radio producers and musicians, who are required by TV and radio broadcasters to conform to the standard. It is also a handy tool for quality control, offering the precision and ease of use required to ensure compliance with custom specifications. Operation of the plug-in is highly intuitive, so that even users without a great deal of experience in monitoring loudness can use it effectively.

The RTW Loudness Tools support all standard sampling rates up to 96 kHz and offer plug-in operation in mono, stereo and surround formats (eight channels maximum). The plug-in includes RTW’s Peak Program Meter, TruePeak, and Spot Correlator instruments and also offers all common loudness formats plus MagicLRA and an SPL view.

The user interface of the plug-in is based on the award-winning RTW TouchMonitor TM7 and TM9 units, and offers the same degree of functionality and clarity as the hardware models. The instruments provide graphical/numerical, as well as bargraph views, and can be freely rearranged and scaled. Various function parameters, such as integration time, operational range and tolerance, along with a number of viewing options for metering data and scales, offer extra flexibility. The plug-in window dimensions can be set to the native resolution of RTW TouchMonitor display screens, including 480×272, 800×480, 1024×800 (landscape view) or 272×480, 480×800, 800×1024 (portrait view). Users can store all setups and layouts as presets in their DAWs.

The RTW Loudness Tools Masterclass PlugIns require Windows 7/8 (32-bit or 64-bit) or Mac OS 10.6 or higher. RTW will first make them available in the VST 2.4 format for Windows systems and the RTAS format for Mac OS. VST, RTAS and native AAX64 support on the two platforms will follow. PACE anti-piracy and iLok USB copy-protection dongle are used for handling license management and plug-in activation. On an authorized computer, users can use unlimited RTW Loudness Tools instances.

LynTec RPC Panel Selected for Power Control in Revamped Stony Brook Arena

Web-Enabled Circuit Control Panel Provides Reliable Electrical Protection in Large-Scale A/V Overhaul

LENEXA, Kan. — April 2, 2014 — LynTec, a leading manufacturer of customized electrical power control solutions for professional audio, video, and lighting systems, today announced that the company’s RPC (Remote Power Controller) panel with motorized breaker technology has been applied to the multimillion dollar renovation of Stony Brook University’s Stony Brook Arena. Using simple Web-enabled circuit control and reliable electrical protection, the cutting-edge athletics facility is able to power, protect, and easily manage the arena’s main audio system, scoreboards, and videoboards — creating one of the most advanced athletic and entertainment venues in the country.

Home to the Stony Brook Seawolves’ men’s and women’s basketball teams, the arena’s $21.1 million renovation is set to transform the venue into a 4,000-seat first-class facility, which will include luxury boxes, a VIP lounge area at the loge level, and new premium courtside seating for a variety of concerts, sporting competitions, and other large-scale events.
