RTI Brings Voice Control to Home Automation With New Two-Way Driver for Tenflare’s Voice Viper System

SHAKOPEE, Minn. — May 5, 2014 — Remote Technologies Incorporated (RTI) today announced the availability of a new two-way driver for Tenflare’s Voice Viper CTL voice control system. Developed by RTI, the new driver makes it simple for integrators to incorporate voice control into RTI’s cost-effective control and automation systems, providing their clients with a powerful “hands-free” complement to the company’s extensive line of user interfaces.

Developed exclusively for the custom integration market, the Voice Viper hardware solution is remarkably accurate and responsive. Always on, the system does not require any button presses to activate — reacting only to spoken commands, via in-wall microphones, while ignoring ambient conversation. Simple to program and integrate into an RTI control system using the Integration Designer(R) drag-and-drop programming environment, the two-way driver allows up to 256 different control phrases.

To execute voice commands, Voice Viper’s compact module communicates to an RTI control system via RS-232 or Ethernet for quick, reliable control. Using just the user’s voice, the RTI system provides complete control over all electronic systems in a home or commercial facility from A/V equipment to HVAC, lighting, security systems, and much more.

“We are very excited to add RTI to our growing list of home automation partners,” said Stephan Hosterman, co-founder of Tenflare. “By providing high functionality at a low price point, RTI has quickly become the control solution of choice in many residential and commercial installations. Through this seamless integration into the company’s control platform, we will greatly increase our market exposure as we continue to grow in Europe and the United States, while delivering the ultimate control experience for users.”

“The Voice Viper driver adds another exciting interface to the RTI control ecosystem: the human voice,” said Pete Baker, vice president of sales and marketing for RTI. “While voice control products have traditionally had limitations — whether it’s the need to physically activate them or their limited number of control phrases — Tenflare’s solution has really taken the concept to new heights. Voice Viper is the perfect complement to our user interfaces in settings where users need both hands free, such as a residential kitchen or entryway, or a corporate boardroom.”

The Voice Viper driver is available now on RTI’s website at www.rticorp.com in the Driver Store.
