The awards come just months after the HelixNet system was honored with TV Technology magazine’s ‘Best of Show” award at NAB.

NewBay Media’s Best of Show Awards are judged by a panel of engineers and industry experts from submitted nominations. Criteria include ease of installation and use/maintenance, performance, relevance, value/ROI, network friendliness, versatility, and reliability.

The HKB-2X Speaker Station has four channels of intercom communications simultaneously over a single cable, and is able to monitor all four and communicate on any two of those channels at any given time. The S-Mount unit is an attractive yet durable mount that enables the Speaker Station to be used in portable applications. AV Networking World Connects with Attendees

New attendance record for Las Vegas conference

Nearly 250 consultants, , sound engineers and IT managers from all over the world came together in Las Vegas on June 17th, 2014 for the AV Networking World Conference to learn about Dante™, the market leading audio networking solution. This year’s event was sponsored by Atlas Sound, Attero Tech, Audinate, BSS Audio by Harman, Bosch, Bose Professional Systems, Focusrite Rednet, Innovative Electronic Designs, TC Group, Lectrosonics, Peavey Commercial Audio, Powersoft, Presonus, Shure, Stewart Audio, Studio Technologies and Yamaha Commercial Audio.

“Attending AVNW from a broadcasting and live sound perspective, it was amazing to see the different ways companies and people are using Dante” remarked John Ball, Systems Engineer from Microsoft Product Studios. “For us at Microsoft Production Studios (MPS), the IP platform is giving us new ways to transport audio and backend communications like never before. Seeing equipment manufacturers embracing the Dante technology at a breakneck pace is giving MPS a new arsenal of tools for creative ways of handling productions – faster, cheaper and better.”

“AV Networking World was confidence-inspiring for a small HOW integrator like myself to hear about how Dante is being used successfully in very large scale projects, with mission-critical requirements placed on the delivery of audio”, said Bryan Cole, founder of Axia Concepts. “I’m benefiting from some of the same economies of scale in the smaller projects that I am involved in, which demonstrates that Dante is cost effective at both ends of the spectrum, and scales well both directions.”

“Audinate brought Dante to the market with features and capabilities that we are only beginning to fully appreciate and see where they can be applied. I am in a unique position where I serve multiple market segments, from AV to Multi-media, to broadcast”, remarked Tim Bailey, Project Manager for Communications Engineering, Inc. “The possibilities for the applications of Dante to my company are virtually limitless.”

One new and extremely popular component of this year’s seminar was the Dante Installation Workshop, in which three teams from the audience were tasked to design and put together a working Dante network using at least 5 different Dante enabled products. In just 2-3 minutes the teams were able to quickly install and configure a Dante system and transmit audio.

One of the attendees Tanner Upthegrove, Media Engineer for Virginia Tech Institute for Creativity, Arts, and Technology, commented, “I thought it was a great event. It was interesting to learn how Dante is being used – not only for large systems, but small scale installations as well.”

HARMAN’s Martin Professional M6 Lighting Console is the Optimal Solution for Tiens Conference

NEW YORK, New York — For Tiens Company’s annual distributor conference at Moscow’s Russia Hall in SC “luzhniki”, featuring a combination of official speeches and an original concert program for 8,000 guests, HARMAN’s Martin Professional provided Lighting Designer Roman Kasaev with a M6 console to control a design with over 100 Martin lighting fixtures.

To ensure the lighting design integrated seamlessly with the conference’s theme, Kasaev teamed with Daniel Maneshin, Technical Director at the Knyazev Agency, who was brought in to design the conference’s main concept. Maneshin also developed the conference’s business section as well as conceptualized many decorative and informative elements, which featured several LED screens mounted on the main stage. Kasaev chose 48 MAC 101 compact LED wash lights due to the brightness and colors that complimented the LED screens used at the event. The MAC 101s were mounted on custom-made metal structures between screen modules, eight pieces per aperture, due to their bright colored lights that fit ideally with the colors of the video-content on LED screens.
“The MAC 101s are extremely bright and they were never lost on the background of the LED screens,” said Kasaev. “What’s more, there were moments when they outshined the powerful MAC III Profiles.”

“Thanks to the built-in effects engine of the M6, I was able to create a very sophisticated and beautiful color and dimming effects for the MAC 101s,” Kasaev explained. “It resulted in a very intense, bright and impressive picture! The MAC 101s are very fast, so I could bring more diversity into lighting design to make it more dynamic and filled with drive and energy.”

The event program also featured classical ballet and acrobatic performances. To highlight the actors and gymnasts, Kasaev also chose 34 MAC III Profiles to create unique lighting accents with beautiful rays and gobo projections.

For Kasaev, the Tiens Conference was the first project where he was able to work with M6 console, only a slight change as he is familiar with the philosophy from using the M1 and M2GO controllers before. “I had a very big set of equipment for this project so I needed a more powerful console than the M,” Kasaev said. “I reached out to the Representative Office of Martin Professional in Moscow for the support and they provided me with M6 console.”
“Working with the M6 console was very cool and awesome,” he continued. “It’s definitely number one in the M-series due to the features, functions, power and possibilities. The effects engine that Martin’s R&D invented and implemented is a crazy story! The programming speed is really impressive! I had two monitors that allowed me to program many things much faster. The whole process is a pleasure, when you work on M6! The implementation is excellent, very easy to use. Every LD could find all the instruments they need to put their creative ideas into life! I want to recommended LDs to try to work with M-series consoles. It is really very easy, logical and simple solution for programming a variety of lighting effects!”

In addition, Kasaev deployed 50 MAC Aura’s and 12 Atomic 3000 DMX strobes throughout the lighting design.
