Opticomm-EMCORE Announces the New Genesis XD, a Multimedia Matrix for 4K UHD and Beyond

 

Alhambra, CA –June 1, 2014 – Opticomm-EMCORE, a leading provider of end-to-end multimedia distribution equipment for 4K UHD and beyond, is launching their new Genesis XD (“GXD”) at InfoComm 2014, an all-in-one multimedia matrix solution that converts, scales, switches and distributes video, audio and data for small-to-large connectivity applications.  A four-panel video wall will be created using Genesis XD and Genesis-compatible multipoint products, including their new GBOX Series of compact, throw-down boxes, Optiva system cards, and the new Eclipse HD system.

Genesis XD accepts and converts both analog and digital signals, including HDMI 1.4b with HDCP (now known as HEAC – HDMI, Ethernet, Audio, Control), Display Port, DVI, VGA, Component and 3G HD-SDI.  GXD’s massive 40 Gbps backplane accommodates uncompressed 4K UHD resolutions now and 8K resolutions later, allowing it to serve as a staple for Installers that want a flexible and reliable connectivity platform.  Remote locations can be connected via singlemode and multimode Fiber up to 10 kilometers (6 miles), as well as CATx/HDBaseT or IP/Ethernet up to 100 meters (300 feet).

A notable feature of Genesis XD is the ability to break-away and switch audio separately for professional audio editing and processing requirements.  GXD also embeds digital S/PDIF or stereo analog audio inputs into HDMI and 3G HD-SDI signals, as well as, de-embeds audio from those same digital signals.  Supported data formats include 10/100 Mbps Ethernet, RS-232, CEC, USB 2.0 (for keyboard, mouse, storage devices etc.), and IR, which provides IR control of the source equipment from the display end of the link.

Genesis XD is a non-blocking, full cross-point matrix switch that allows any source to seamlessly connect to one or all displays for continuous, trouble-free operation in critical applications.  GXD is a modular system, expandable and scalable from 8×8 to 256×256.  Initially, GXD will be launched in a 32×32, 9RU frame, allowing for 16 cards input and 16 cards output, with two channels per card.  It incorporates “intelli-scale” technology to instantly scale a video source to the native resolution of connected displays in less than one second.

The multi-format Genesis XD platform can be utilized in numerous connectivity applications, including but not limited to:

  •  Corporate: One building can distribute multimedia between floors via copper cabling then send the same signals to a second building via fiber cabling, all output from the same switch. For AV/IT integration applications, GXD can bridge both audio/video and data networks over the same IP/Ethernet infrastructure.
  • Education: GXD can utilize existing copper and IP infrastructure for video conferencing in classrooms, then convert these and other signals for long-distance transport over fiber, for distribution of seminars, surveillance video and broadcast journalism programs throughout a campus or regional district.
  • Government and Military: GXD can support all video, audio and data for multi-display, high-security, Command and Control rooms, as well as distribute ultra-high resolution interactive video for simulation/mission control applications.
  • Hospital Operating Room: GXD can be deployed as the central switch for all connectivity applications, including archiving operating procedures, live video feed of procedures for long-distance teaching applications over fiber and IP/Ethernet, as well as distribution of multimedia to digital signage/video walls throughout the building.
  • Security and Surveillance: High-definition HDMI and 3G HD-SDI video may be routed through GXD from multiple sources to a single output using a quad-multiviewer card.
  • Worship: GXD offers seamless switching between video cameras and computer graphics, providing reliable, high-quality signal distribution to multiple projectors and screens.

 

Genesis XD includes interfaces such as USB 2.0 for remote KVM applications, RS-232 Serial Data and Ethernet for controlling remote devices.  The system can be remotely controlled and monitored through any laptop or tablet to access the web-based GUI.  Other forms of control supported are RS-232 and Ethernet/SNMP commands, allowing third-party control systems to be used. Additionally, it features a front-LCD touch screen for control and to act as a preview screen for any connected video source, eliminating need for a local, dedicated monitor.

Opticomm-EMCORE to demonstrate Video Wall driven by Eclipse HD at InfoComm

Alhambra, CA – Opticomm-EMCORE, a leading provider of high-definition video, audio and data transport solutions for Fiber, IP, CATx and Coax networks, will be using the InfoComm 2014 show in Las Vegas on June 18-20 as a platform to demonstrate the quality of the new Eclipse HD as it extends and switches 1080p or 1920×1200 multimedia feeds across a dedicated IP network, sent to a four-panel video wall as example of its capabilities. In addition, other high-quality products for pre- and post-production, live-feed, and Professional A/V will be on display at the booth stand, C7716.

Opticomm-EMCORE will construct a cost-efficient video/audio/data distribution system over an IP network to show design consultants, system integrators and home theater aficionados the painless switching and routing of the new Eclipse HD. This encoder/decoder system provides visually lossless transmission and processing of HDMI 1.3, 5.1 channel audio, RS-232 data and USB HID keyboard/mouse (KVM), over a dedicated Gigabit Ethernet network. A media player, Blu-ray or DVD player, laptop, camera or other HDMI source can send HD signals to the Eclipse HD encoder, which can then be sent to a Layer 2/3 Unmanaged Gigabit Ethernet Switch with IGMP 2.0 (if desired), which lastly can be received by one or more decoders to be connected to single or multiple displays. There are virtually limitless ways to configure a HD matrix by stacking IP switches.

In addition to the Eclipse HD, we will be showing the NV series as a part of the IP network exhibit, which utilizes JPEG 2000 encoding and decoding for lossless DVI, HDMI, and 3G HD-SDI distribution. Also we will also be highlighting, in our booth, the c-linx series, Optiva and GBOX fiber products. The c-linx series are small, stand-alone box units utilizing HDBaseT technology to extend signals for extension up to 100 meters, over CATx. The company will also display the Optiva OTP-1DVI2A1UKM, which has been upgraded with a larger bit-rate of 10GB optics and now supports up to 4K resolution and KVM over a secure, lossless multimode fiber up to 10 km and singlemode fiber up to 25 km. The first in the GBOX Series, GBX-HDMI-VGA, provides for the transmission of either HDMI 1.4b with HDCP and HEAC support, or VGA / Component for legacy stereo analog sources, in a point-to-point configuration. It also supports stereo analog and S/PDIF digital audio, 10/100/1000 Ethernet, bidirectional RS-232 and IR support.
