Houston, TX A new RTS ADAM matrix system installation at the City of Houston Emergency Operations Center has raised the bar for mission critical communications in EOC applications. The heart of a supremely flexible and user-friendly intercom system that links the Houston EOC with all appropriate city, regional and federal departments and agencies, the ADAM system was supplied and installed by Bill McKee of Broadcast Technical Services, with manufacturer support from Britt Bowers of Telex RTS. El Segundo, CA The Spacelift Telemetry Acquisition & Reporting System (STARS) was developed to improve Aerospace’s day-of-launch support and post-flight analysis. Rather than send 40 engineers to the launch site (Cape Canaveral or Vandenberg AFB), the idea was to bring the data to them so they can perform “independent” analysis. STARS was impressed by the voice quality and flexibility of an RTS installation in another high-profile private aerospace facility, and they soon followed suit. Fadi Serhan, the general manager of the company, has been an expert on the Lebanese broadcasting market for over twenty years, working as a broadcast engineer for ten years before founding Vatech Video & Audio in 1996. The company, which recently opened a new showroom in the centre of Beirut, maintains excellent contact with all the major Lebanese broadcasters, and now employs a staff of seven to handle sales, logistics, engineering and support. more

Like the RVON-8, the RVON-16 is installed into the ADAM intercom frame and provides Voice-Over IP communications for the RTS ADAM intercom product family. The RVON-16 is an integrated solution for connecting custom keypanels to the intercom matrix over standard IP networks by supporting 16 channels of audio IN and OUT.
The RVON-16 supports all standard hot-swappable and configurable options through RTS’s RVONedit VoIP configuration software, and some configuration options through RTS’s AZedit intercom configuration software. The RVON-16 also supports remote keypanels, audio connections between matrix frames via RVON-16, RVON-8, or RVON-I/O as well as virtual keypanels via VoIP. It also has two DB-9 serial connections for RS-232 or RS-485 pass-thru port connections.
RVON-16 also supports RTS Intelligent Trunking over IP. Trunking is a method of using minimal audio paths for a large number of users. Each GPIO-16 frame provides 16 opt-isolated inputs and 16 relay outputs. The GP inputs can be set up to remotely controlled keypanel keys to activate intercom ports, party lines, relay outputs, etc. within the intercom system. The Relay outputs are typically assigned for activation from keypanel keys. They can be used to control lighting or to key remote transmitters, paging systems, etc. more

The PS-20 is a complete and independent power supply. The PS-20 has added features like two- and four-channel operation, RTS monitoring, 2-channel program input, audio linking, and three-mode operation: RTS 2-channel, RTS 4-channel and Clear-Com mode. It also doubles the power, which substantially increases the number of user stations and beltpacks that can be connected.
The PS-20 features two channels of communication where both channels are “wet,” meaning there is power on each channel (RTS 2-channel mode). In RTS 4-channel mode, the audio signals and DC exist on the same wire, unlike in Clear-Com mode, where the audio and power are on separate lines. Where the PS-15 has power on CH 1 only, power is on both CH 1 and CH 2 on the PS-20. The PS-20 has a 3-pin XLR (male) connector on the front of the system, where a user station like a beltpack can connect to the power supply and monitor activity on CH1 or CH 2 or both. A single PS-20 Power Supply now has 1.8 amperes per channel, which means that the user can power up for more stations (depending on the model and combination – see specifications). If still more user stations or beltpacks are needed, two PS-20 Power Supplies can be joined together to double the power capability. A pair of standard stereo plug connectors are available on the back of the power supply to connect two PS-20 power supplies through audio linking as well. The PGM IN (3-pin XLR female Program Input) connector can be used to send Audio to both CH 1 and/or CH 2 (for example, a radio station that users can listen to while they work). more

The RVON-C Voice-Over IP card introduces all the VoIP functionality of the RVON-8 for ADAM to the Cronus intercom system. The RVON-8 converts analog audio to digital VoIP and installed directly into Cronus, the RVON-C expands the connectivity to the Cronus intercom system by supporting eight channels in and out. Up to four RVON-C cards can be supported in Cronus at one time, totalling 32 channels of VoIP audio plus data. more

The BP-325 is a binaural (stereo) programmable two-channel beltpack with program audio-in capability. The BP-319 is a microprocessor controlled one-channel intercom where the BP-351 is a microprocessor controlled two-channel select intercom beltpack. The BP-319 and BP-351 have 4 or 5 pin XLR connections for headset operation equipped with either dynamic or electret microphone boom.
