Primacoustic is Pleased to Announce the Black StratoTile

Vancouver , BC – Primacoustic® is pleased to announce an addition to its successful line of acoustical ceiling treatments: the Black StratoTile.™

Primacoustic Product Specialist Jay Porter: “Our original StratoTile product is white and although they are paintable, the process is time consuming. Many of our customers are installing these tiles in home theaters, studios and nightclubs and we’ve discovered a market demand for the tile in a basic black. It works for so many applications and it made sense for us to eliminate the extra painting step for our customers.”

Black StratoTiles are great looking, high-performance ceiling tiles featuring 3Ž4” thick (20mm) high-density 6lb per cubic foot glass wool construction for maximum sound absorption and are encapsulated in fine micromesh with sealed edges to retain the minute glass fibers.

Once in place, the black StratoTile works with the air space above the panel to absorb all frequencies down to 125Hz delivering a truly linear performance. This makes the black StratoTile ideal for installations such as in nightclubs where excessive reverberation and echo inside the room can severely interfere with the sound from a live band, DJ or PA system. In home theaters these tiles greatly improve the sound of the room and contribute to a lower light, more movie theater-like environment. In a home studio they work perfectly for drop ceilings common to basements where many studios are built. They are ideal for restaurants where a more intimate environment is appropriate. Architects looking to achieve a warmer, more intimate overall desired ambient effect can choose them for meeting rooms, board rooms, video and telepresence conference rooms.

Designed to retrofit into existing T-Bar systems, the black StratoTile is available in both square 24″ x 24″ (60cm x 60cm) and rectangular 24″ x 48″ (60cm x 120cm) panel sizes. The black StratoTile has been fully tested to meet the stringent ASTM-E84 fire and smoke development requirements for Class-A designation and safe use anywhere.

Prysm’s Laser Phosphor Display Transforms Barneys New York Window into Gaga’s Workshop for the Holidays

San Jose, CA- November 22- Digital display innovator, Prysm, announced today that the company’s Laser Phosphor Display (LPD) technology was selected to help transform the windows at Barneys New York Madison Avenue flagship store into “Gaga’s Workshop”, a unique take on Santa’s iconic holiday workshop. Among the holiday window displays inspired by Lady Gaga and designed in collaboration with Nicola Formichetti, Prysm’s curved 8-foot by 5-foot video-wall is featured in the sole digital installation of Gaga’s Workshop. Titled “Gaga Constellation” and located in a street-level window next to the store’s front door, Prysm’s LPD wall provides a display platform that engages and interacts with Barneys’ shoppers and passers-by. The LPD wall features live Twitter messages sent by Barneys’ customers and the general public.

“Barneys New York and Lady Gaga signify high end, cutting edge creativity and design,” said Prysm’s VP of Global Sales and Service, Dana Corey. “Being selected to participate in this year’s holiday design as the project’s sole digital installation is a true demonstration of the quality and possibilities Prysm’s LPD technology offers.”

Selected for Prysm’s seamless, vibrant, captivating display imagery, the LPD video-wall illuminates and brings the “Gaga Constellation” window to life. With social media being an important communication tool for Lady Gaga and her fans, incorporating live messages via Twitter was an instrumental part of this campaign that Prysm’s LPD video-wall makes possible. Inspired by the theme “message in a bottle” Gaga fans, Barneys’ customers and passers-by are invited to spread holiday cheer and send Tweets that will be displayed on Prysm’s video-wall to transform the “Gaga Constellation” window into an interactive experience. Prysm’s video-wall also showcases a 90-second film directed by Tim Richardson featuring Lady Gaga morphing into and out of various star formations.

“Prysm’s seamless, vibrant video-display allowed the team to create a powerful, captivating, interactive environment that people passing by will be unable to turn away from,” said Nicola Formichetti, creative director of Gaga’s Workshop. “And because Gaga is so connected to her ‘Little Monsters’, the digital display had to both bring Gaga to life while also interact with her ’street audience’- a difficult task Prysm’s display does flawlessly.”

Opening at 11:59pm on November 21st, Gaga’s Workshop is on display at Barneys New York through January 2nd.

Prysm’s LPD solutions break away from traditional display technologies by offering freeform flexibility, long-lasting performance, lifelike, lifesize and HD imagery that captivates audiences in any setting. Built on solid-state lasers that deliver brilliant image quality and the fastest video content, Prysm’s displays provide striking video viewable from 178-degrees. Running off of a standard 110V outlet and using up to 75% less power than traditional backlit or projection technology-based products, Prysm’s displays create high impact brand experiences without the need for special power or cooling infrastructure.
