KUDO System Sings At Lexington Opera House

loh_kudo_flown.jpgLEXINGTON, Kentucky — The Lexington Opera House, which first opened in 1887 and was described by The Kentucky Leader as one of the “costliest, handsomest and most convenient Thespian temples in the South,” has certainly seen its share of amazing performances over the years. Al Jolson, John Phillip Sousa, W.C. Fields, Harry Houdini, Will Rogers, Mae West and the Marx Brothers have all graced its stage, not to mention countless theatrical and musical productions

With the advent of motion pictures, the opera house gradually fell into disrepair; however, the facility was eventually purchased by the city and spared the wrecking ball thanks to a full renovation and restoration effort in 1976. Now, more than three decades later, the opulent 944-seat venue has once again been “freshened up” with some much needed updates, the most notable being the addition of a new L-ACOUSTICS KUDO line source array system. more

L-ACOUSTICS KIVA Installed Into Vantaa Martinus Concert Hall

vantaa_martinus.jpgVANTAA, Finland — L-ACOUSTICS’ Finnish distributor, Starlike Oy, has installed a KIVA/KILO system into the Vantaa Martinus Concert Hall, a 1,000-seat concert hall constructed in 1986.

The hall is home to the Vantaa Pops Orchestra, a 40-70 piece symphonic orchestra specializing in light entertainment, rather than classical music, and including ‘pop’ elements such as guitar, keyboards and drums. According to sound designer Sepi Myllyrinne, responsible for the orchestra’s sound, it was widely perceived that the existing system at Vantaa needed updating as audio quality is of paramount importance to the orchestra. Together with Martinus’ sound designer Esa Lindroos and the rest of the audio team, Myllyrinne evaluated many systems before concluding that the KIVA system was the clear winner in terms of audio quality, coherence, headroom, coverage and flexibility. “Even after using the system for a while now I’m still impressed with its sound quality every time,” he says. more
