ESCONDIDO, California — The Dukes of September Rhythm Revue — perhaps better known as Donald Fagen, Michael McDonald and Boz Scaggs, along with a seasoned nine-member backup band — has now closed the final chapter on a very successful 43-show North American tour. The outing was a combined effort between Detroit-based Thunder Audio, which supplied the monitor package for Fagen, and Escondido’s Sound Image, which handled monitor packages for McDonald and Scaggs as well as provided FOH control and a full L-ACOUSTICS K1 system for the duration. more

3D projection mapping show heard throughout the piazza on an ARCS II system

LAS VEGAS — This past summer, The Venetian Las Vegas embraced the jaw-dropping art of 3D projection mapping during its Carnevale festival by premiering a stunning nightly show animating the façade of its clock tower, a replica of the one in Venice’s Piazza San Marco.

The show, known as “Light of Venice,” was the first of 10 short commissioned son et lumière works conceived by projection artist Ross Ashton who teamed up with London-based UnitedVisualArtists Ltd. and Tucson, Arizona’s Darling Ltd. on the creative implementation. AVDB Group of Las Vegas further supplied the technical components of the production, including a new L-ACOUSTICS ARCS II system. more

Tiny speaker system nets its first award for best debuting sound product

LAS VEGAS — L-ACOUSTICS is proud to announce that its new 5XT ultra-compact coaxial enclosure recently took home LDI 2012′s sole Debuting Product Award in the category of Sound. Presented to the manufacturer on Saturday, October 20 at the Live Design stand on the LVCC show floor, the award was bestowed as part of LDI’s 25th anniversary celebration.

Purchase of nearly 400 enclosures plus 150 amplified controllers underscores company’s dedication to K1/KUDO

HOUSTON, Texas — Lending further proof to the saying “everything is bigger in Texas,” L-ACOUSTICS US reports that Houston-based LD Systems has now purchased a mega-stadium-sized K1/KUDO system. Hailed as one of the largest sales in the manufacturer’s 28-year history, the order comprises 386 enclosures — including variable curvature, constant curvature and coaxial systems — all powered by LA-RAK.

According to Rob McKinley, co-founder, president and owner of LD Systems, the quantity of product was largely driven by the sound reinforcement needs of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, which has been an annual client since 1985. In February and March of each year, as part of RodeoHouston, up to 75,000 people pack Reliant Stadium on any given night for three straight weeks of rodeo action and concerts from some of the biggest stars in pop, rock and country music. more

L-ACOUSTICS system deployed on 80th annual Pageant of the Masters

LAGUNA BEACH, California – September 2012 — Celebrating its milestone 80th season this year, Pageant of the Masters is an annual summer festival where life truly does imitate art. Staged at the 2,700-seat Irvine Bowl in Laguna Beach, the Festival of Arts event is best known for its “tableaux vivants” in which classical and contemporary works of art are recreated onstage through an elaborate mix of costumed models, props, backdrops and lighting.

This year’s production, known as “Genius”, focused on the works of numerous visionaries like Michelangelo, Vincent van Gogh, and Leonardo da Vinci. But the visual aspect of the event was only half of the story. Accompanying the 90-minute show of “living pictures” each night throughout July and August were a professional narrator, vocalists singing period pieces, and a 30-member live orchestra, all sonically reinforced via a new L-ACOUSTICS KARA system. more

Phoenix-area church upgrades main sanctuary system with L-ACOUSTICS

CHANDLER, Arizona — CrossRoads Nazarene Church in Chandler, Arizona recently became one of the latest North American houses of worship to install a KARAi line source system from L-ACOUSTICS.

AVDB Group of Phoenix provided the design and integration of the new system for CrossRoads’ sanctuary, which now features left and right arrays of six KARAi flanking dual center sub hangs each comprised of two SB18i. Three LA8 amplified controllers power all enclosures. more
