B.M.C. Audio Launches New DAC as First Entry In More Affordable PureLine Component Series

High-Quality PureDAC Combines Advanced Headphone Amp,
Elegant Styling, Affordability and Audiophile Performance

GESEKE, GERMANY, Feb. 2013 — Balanced Music Concept (B.M.C.) Audio, a developer and manufacturer of high-performance, high-value audiophile components, introduces the PureDAC Digital-to-Analog Converter, with a built-in headphone amplifier, at the recently completed Consumer Electronics Show in January.

Designed principally for Lifestyle and Design-conscious consumers, the PureDAC is the first entry in a new PureLine Series of components that will be more affordable than B.M.C.’s Reference-level models. PureLine models deliver an essential level of electronic purity. Their electronics are complex yet not complicated — or comprised — by unnecessary features. As a result, they fulfil their promise of high-end audio at affordable prices. Additional products in the PureSeries line will include the PurePhono Preamplifier, compatible with both moving magnet and moving coil type cartridges, and the PureMono Amplifier, with B.M.C.’s exclusive Current Injection technology.

The PureDAC delivers a DAC of the highest quality. It combines its DAC with a balanced, reference-level headphone amplifier, a balanced preamplifier, and B.M.C.’s exclusive Digital Intelligent Gain Management (DIGM), a volume and amplification control system that calibrates gain without dividing or downgrading the input signal.

The PureDAC’s headphone amplifier and preamp both have separate volume controls and employ B.M.C.’s exclusive Load Effect Free (LEF) technology. LEF handles a speaker’s current demand separately from the voltage demand, increasing the amp and preamp’s efficiency and the quality of their audio reproduction. The preamp is integrated with the DAC’s current-to-voltage converter, which converts and filters the DAC’s current, eliminating the need for an extra stage.

The PureDAC also boasts a high-resolution asynchronous USB interface, digital AES/EBU, Toslink and coaxial inputs, balanced analog outputs, RCA output jacks, and a special B.M.C. link for connecting directly to a B.M.C. amplifier. Its balanced output is ideally compatible with amplifiers featuring B.M.C.’s exclusive Current Injection (CI) technology, which enhances signal purity and the musical presence of the PureDAC’s audio reproduction.

The PureDAC Digital-to-Analog Converter will be available from authorized B.M.C. dealers at the end of the First Quarter at a price anticipated below $1,600 (U.S. MSRP). It can be seen with B.M.C.’s other outstanding products at the Venetian Tower, Room 30-124, during CES.

B.M.C. Audio Introduces New Generation of Power Amplifiers

The AMP M2 Delivers High-End Reproduction that’s Natural,
Neutral and Transparent Plus a Wealth of Exclusive Features

GESEKE, GERMANY, Feb. 2013 — Balanced Music Concept (B.M.C.) Audio, a developer and manufacturer of high-performance, high-value audiophile components, introduces the AMP M2 Mono Power Amplifier at the recently completed International Consumer Electronics Show.

The AMP M2 delivers exceptional musical reproduction consistently, purely and transparently. Listeners experience only unbridled power and music’s finest details, without any intrusion of the amplifier itself. Perfectly balanced, the AMP M2 runs cooler than traditional Class A designs, and silently. Its musical dynamics remain constant for every volume level, and without compression. It also exhibits no signal path feedback on the theory that it’s better to avoid distortion from the start than to try correcting for it later.

The AMP M2 possesses a surprisingly powerful dynamic vitality for its relatively compact size, an 88-pound weight that only begins to suggest its exceptional build quality, an elegant design, and three of B.M.C.’s exclusive advances, and a very affordable price given its superb performance and broad use of high-quality materials. The channel separation produced by two separate AMP M2s cannot be surpassed.

B.M.C.’s exclusive innovations include its Load Effect Free (LEF) technology, Digital Intelligent Gain Management (DIGM), and Current Injection (CI) technology. They ensure listeners only experience the amplifier’s power and music’s finest details.

The M2 delivers 200 watts into 8 Ohms, and 380 watts into 4 Ohms with a frequency response of 1Hz – 200kHz (at 1W). A fully regulated power supply with a massive 2-kW toroidal transformer and balanced current capacitors contribute background silence and rock-solid stability.

LEF technology raises speaker output, the quality of the AMP M2’s audio reproduction, and the amplifier’s efficiency. It achieves these by handling speakers’ current demand separately from the voltage demand, relieving the Class-A transistor of all duties other than providing perfect signal reproduction.

DIGM technology is a volume and amplification control that lets listeners adjust left/right output balances in 1-decibel increments by setting the M2’s gain on B.M.C.’s DAC 1 Digital-to-Analog Converter. The DAC 1 optically transmits the value to the M2. This avoids unnecessary input-signal attenuation and excessive amplification, contributing to a more natural musical quality. As a result, DIGM eliminates the need for a preamp circuit, avoids excessive gain, and allows direct connection to a DAC. Additional benefits include a very short signal path, low noise, and the ability to reduce noise further by reducing volume.

CI technology further increases signal purity and the immediacy of the M2’s musical reproduction. It does this by processing a signal source’s current until it attains the desired loudspeaker output voltage, replacing, as a result, any gain stage by an original signal. Combined, B.M.C.’s LEF, DIGM and CI technologies draw listeners into a new world of tonal experience.

The AMP M2 exhibits the modular construction and massive build quality typical of B.M.C. components, with a sturdy aluminum chassis for housing and the finest components available for the electronics. Large Power and Volume buttons and an easily read Power Meter enhance the front panel.

On the rear panel, balanced XLR and XLR-CI inputs, unbalanced RCA inputs, one pair of speaker outputs with gold-plated binding posts, and an AC power connection help the AMP M2 take advantage of its many technologies.

The AMP M2 Mono Power Amplifier is available now from authorized B.M.C. Audio dealers at a suggested price of $7,990 (U.S. MSRP).

B.M.C. Audio Introduces Integrated Amplifier With Built-in Power Amp Upgrade Option

Housing a Wealth of Exclusive Features, the AMP CS2 Delivers
High-End Reproduction that’s Natural, Neutral and Transparent

GESEKE, GERMANY, Oct. 16, 2012 — Balanced Music Concept (B.M.C.) Audio, a developer and manufacturer of high-performance, high-value audiophile components, is introducing into the U.S. market the AMP CS2 Power Amplifier. The AMP CS2 delivers 2 channels of 200 Watts housed in a sturdy aluminum chassis with large Power and Volume buttons and an easily read Power Meter.

The AMP CS2 is notable for a built-in option that automatically changes it from operating as an integrated amplifier with B.M.C.’s exclusive Load Effect Free (LEF) technology into a stereo power amplifier with LEF by simply connecting it to a B.M.C. digital-to-analog converter (DAC).One of a series of amplifiers B.M.C. developed to deliver music to loudspeakers purely, naturally and neutrally, the AMP CS2 also features a full package of B.M.C.’s unique and exclusive technologies, including LEF amplification, Current Injection (CI), and Discrete Intelligent Gain Management (DIGM). Used together, as in the Amp CS2, they lead listeners to a previously unheard level of musical transparency.

Contributing to the exceptional sound are a short, pure signal path, and the absence of distortion. Instead of compensating for distortion as other amps do through a negative feedback loop, the AMP CS2 simply avoids it, believing that it’s better to avoid distortion from the start than to try to correct it later.

Users can take advantage of the built-in upgrade option by combining the AMP CS2 with a B.M.C. DAC, which transforms the CS2 into a stereo power amp, while retaining all of B.M.C.’s exclusive technologies.

And all of the AMP CS2′s dynamic power. The amplifier outputs 2 channels of 200 Watts into 8 Ohms, and 2 channels of 360 Watts into 4 Ohms. A fully regulated power supply with a large 2kW toroidal transformer, and energy storage by specially designed balanced current capacitors, provide the muscle behind the music even as the amp, itself, runs cool and quietly. In addition, an innovative electronic stabilization circuit filters voltage ripples and other disturbances out of the supply voltage, ensuring exceptional tranquility and dynamic stability.

Three Technologies
The AMP CS2 includes three technologies developed by and exclusive to B.M.C.:

Load Effect Free (LEF) Technology handles a speaker’s current demand separately from the voltage demand. This helps the amplifier achieve high output and high-quality reproduction. It provides a top-level signal without voltage amplification, and increases efficiency. The result is a level of musical complexity that brings to life delicate details, rock-shaking power, high dynamics, sonic vitality, and accurate imaging.

Current Injection (CI) Technology processes the input current from a signal source through a special XLR-CI input and the amplifier’s circuitry until it attains the desired output voltage for the loudspeakers, increasing the purity of the amplified signal and the immediacy of its musical reproduction.

Digital Intelligent Gain Management (DIGM) is a volume and amplification control system that recalibrates gain without dividing and downgrading the input signal. It enables users to adjust left/right output balances in 66 1-decibel increments. It also avoids unnecessary attenuation of the input signal and excessive amplification, eliminates the need for a preamp circuit, and allows a DAC to directly connect to the amplifier. Less amplification means less distortion and noise, which leads to a more natural musical quality

B,M.C.'s AMP CS2

Exhibiting the modular construction and massive build quality typical of B.M.C. components, the AMP CS2 is housed in a sturdy aerospace-grade aluminum chassis using the finest components available. Large Power and Volume buttons and an easily read Power Meter enhance the front panel.

A variety of inputs and outputs — including XLR-CI, RCA and optical
connections — help the AMP CS2 take advantage of its advanced technologies.

A handsome aluminum remote control is included to operate the AMP CS2. Rear-panel connections include 2 pairs of balanced XLR-CI inputs, 3 pairs of unbalanced RCA inputs, 2 pairs of speaker outputs, an optical input and output for stereo operation, and an AC power connection.

The AMP CS2 Power Amplifier is available now from authorized B.M.C. Audio dealers at a suggested price of $8,390 (U.S. MSRP).

Aaudio Imports Introduces Reference Series
Equipment Racks by Tandem-Audio of Greece

Adjustable, Vibration-Absorbing, Handcrafted Equipment Stands

Bring Out the Best in High-End Audio Components and Systems

PARKER, CO, Apr. 5, 2012 — Aaudio Imports, a leading supplier of world-class high-end audio products, introduces into the North American market the exceptional Reference Series Equipment Racks by Tandem-Audio of Greece, a specialized manufacturer of high-end, vibration-free equipment stands. The six racks in the Reference Series are fully adjustable, uniquely vibration-free and entirely handmade by expert craftsmen to enhance the performance of the high-end audio components they’re designed to support. Both the single- and double-wide models are easy to assemble and level, and available in a variety of sizes and wood veneers.

Each Reference System shelf measures 27.5 inches wide by 19.7 inches deep, by just under 3.5 inches deep, and supports up to about 220 lbs. Each shelf also serves as an independent unit in a proprietary technology Tandem-Audio calls its Metal Manipulating Vibration System. While resembling a single slice of wood resting in a metal frame, each shelf is actually a complex construct of handcrafted wood veneers around a vibration-absorbing core framed in a cast aluminum alloy electrostatically painted silver-gray.

The unusual core consists of an aluminum-plywood sandwich filled by a layer of 3.22-inch wood cubes meticulously glued to each other by hand. An aluminum plate immersed in a low-inertia metal filling is embedded inside each shelf, and hand-applied veneers encapsulate the whole. The wood cubes absorb ambient vibrations and transfer them to the aluminum plate and metal filling, which lower their resonant frequency out of acoustic range. The racks’ support columns are made of the same aluminum alloy as the shelf chassis, and are veneered to resemble solid wood posts.

Reference System veneers can be custom selected to attractively complement any residential environment. Available woods include African and American walnut, dibetou, mahogany, makore, beech, maple and wenge, as well as exotic varieties like ebony and palisander, and special custom offerings.

Reference Series Racks are available now from Aaudio Imports at suggested prices ranging from $9,200 for a 2-shelf single-width system to $17,100, for a 4-shelf double-width system. Suggested prices for additional models are $12,500 for a 3-shelf single-width system, $15,800 for a 4-shelf single-width system, $11,100 for a 2-shelf double-width system, and $14,100 for a 3-shelf double-width system.

Aaudio Imports Introduces Reference-Level Air-Powered Turntable and Tonearm by Bergmann of Denmark

Sleipner Airbearing Turntable with Airbearing Tonearm

Precision Sleipner Airbearing Turntable with Airbearing Tonearm Delivers Superb Musical Reproduction with Silent, Friction-Free Technology

INTERNATIONAL CES 2012, LAS VEGAS, Jan. 10, 2012 — Aaudio Imports, a leading supplier of world class high-end audio products, introduces at CES 2012 the remarkable Sleipner Airbearing Turntable with Airbearing Tonearm by Bergmann Audio of Denmark, a leading specialist in airbearing turntables and tonearms.

The Sleipner is a reference-level turntable powered by airbearing technology. It includes a linear tracking airbearing tonearm, a digital motor-controlled air supply, and a vacuum clamp to stabilize records. In Danish, “Sleipner” means smooth or gliding, and refers to what is sometimes called the best of all horses, the eight-legged flying stallion ridden by Odin, chief among the mythological Nordic gods. In English, Sleipner stands for a supreme achievement in turntable technology.

The Sleipner is built with a simple, timeless design, in keeping with Bergmann’s “Less is more” philosophy, and in keeping with Bergmann’s airbearing technology, which offers a number of advantages. The airbearing process is frictionless, for example, minimizing bearing noise and yielding exceptional stability. The airbearing tonearm glides friction-free and only makes contact with a record through the stylus tip and tonearm wire. The result is an emotionally engaging musical reproduction with an unexpectedly effective bass response that transmits nuances and details as natural elements of a vivid and transparent acoustic image.

The Sleipner’s plinth, or base, is a six-layer sandwich of different materials for optimal resonance control. The sandwich consists of three boards of powdered granite/epoxy binding material, two layers of aluminum, and one layer of bitumen, all covered in a 12-mm thick coat of hand-painted and polished polyvinyl. The plinth stabilizes the tonearm, and rests on a set of sturdy, adjustable Ceraball feet, which house vibration-controlling ceramic ball-bearings inside aluminum housings.

A 20.2-pound aluminum platter rests atop the plinth, and atop a 21-mm record mat made of two layers of polycarbonate and one layer of acrylic. The Sleipner’s air supply both supports and centers the platter and provides a thin, dry film of smoothly flowing air, creating a silent, friction-free movement.
The linear-tracking airbearing tonearm
consists of a tubular carbon arm and headshell molded in one piece for optimal stiffness. The hollow arm is damped on the inside and houses connecting wires of pure silver. A highly precise, digitally controlled DC motor with an oversized power supply regulates record speeds, including settings for 33 and 45 rpm.

The Sleipner Airbearing Turntable with Airbearing Tonearm is available now from authorized dealers at a suggested price of $48,100 to $54,400 (U.S. MSRP), depending on finish and connectors.

Aaudio Imports Debuts Highly Innovative Arcadia Speaker by B.M.C. Audio @ CES

First in New B.M.C. Product Category Boasts Bi-Polar Design, Custom Drivers, External Crossover, Ceramic-Based Cabinet

INTERNATIONAL CES 2012, LAS VEGAS, Jan. 10, 2012 — Aaudio Imports introduces the new Arcadia full-range bi-polar loudspeaker by B.M.C. Audio of Germany at CES 2012. Arcadia is the first entry in a brand new product category for the Germany-based electronics manufacturer and the first model in an anticipated series of three new speakers.

Equally important, the Arcadia powerfully realizes B.M.C.’s philosophy of applying exceptional concepts to create technical innovations that further its components’ musical reproduction. The outcome is pure, accurate, emotionally resonant sound, a level of musical reproduction that captures the details and richness of live performances.

The Arcadia is as technologically advanced as it is stylishly designed.

In developing the Arcadia, B.M.C. Audio didn’t simply assemble a collection of off-the-shelf parts — it profoundly re-examined how speakers best work. As a result, the Arcadia is as technologically sophisticated as it is stylishly designed. The three-way speaker sparkles with daring innovations — from its bi-polar balanced configuration and ceramic-composite cabinet to custom-made drivers; plus an external crossover for each speaker system offering an impressive 28 jacks for ultra-flexible & upgradable connections for one or multiple amplifiers, the woofers and midrange drivers, and the Air-Motion tweeters.

Most conventional speakers, for example, project good depth of image in the center of the soundstage, but much less so at the sides. The Arcadia’s bi-polar design, which features the same driver set on the rear as it does on the front of the cabinet, dramatically improves the listener’s impression of depth at the left and right sides of the soundstage, making the soundstage more complete and realistic.

The Arcadia is also a balanced speaker. Both front and rear baffles feature two 6.1-inch Kevlar-Honeycomb-sandwich midrange drivers and an Air-Motion ribbon tweeter with a massive motor in conjunction with a light diaphragm for superb acceleration and high sound pressure capability. Two 11-inch Kevlar-Honeycomb-sandwich woofers with multi-magnet drives at the sides of each cabinet deliver impressive air movement.

The speaker’s striking cabinets are constructed of an exclusive, innovative ceramic-compound B.M.C. calls Megalith. In development since 2002, this is a dense, acoustically optimized amalgam of several aluminum-oxide-based ceramics with multiple grain sizes held together with complex acrylic binders. Unlike Epoxy or phenolic binders, the Arcadia’s acrylics remain stable for decades.

The cabinet’s advantages include an absence of base and midrange coloration, greater stiffness, and a lower internal energy loss than is possible with any cabinet made of wood. Resonance-free and rigid, the cabinet is also free from the effects of humidity and thermal elongation. In fact, the fusion of its parts is more like chemical welding, so that its elements react as a single, seamless piece. Three thin raised panels on each of the cabinet’s sides emphasize its graceful verticality, and create a slim profile that helps the speaker comfortably fit in most living rooms.

The crossover, uniquely, is external, and weighs 37.5 lbs. Being external frees it from internal sound pressures, and makes it easy to upgrade with future solutions designed to improve the sound even further.

B.M.C. Audio custom designed all the Arcadia’s drivers. They feature honeycomb-Kevlar cones that are light, stiff, and free of resonance and coloration. Rather than use the traditional single magnet per woofer, B.M.C. Audio embedded each Arcadia woofer with 6 magnets arranged in a ring. This yields an exceptionally dense magnetic field for long linear excursion range of 0.27 inches.

Also unconventional, B.M.C. Audio custom crafted all the Arcadia’s key elements, including its large air-inductors, inductance-free polypropylene capacitors, unique polystyrene ‘by-passers’. Metal-film resistor arrays replace the usual MOX or wire resistors for superior precision and sound quality.

Arcadia applies a sealed construction process, avoiding bass-reflex resonances and significantly improving bass precision. The power of the drivers, and the cabinet’s low energy loss, more than compensate for any loss of oomph in the sound. Each cabinet stands 47.2 inches high by 20.4 inches deep by 11.2 inches wide at the base, tapering to a narrow width of 7.7 inches at the top. Despite its relatively compact dimensions, each speaker weights 198 lbs., excluding the crossover.

Also notable, and unusual, is that the cabinet is made from a mold, which means the color is not applied later but added directly into the mix and solid all the way through for a non-glossy finish. A bonus of the process is that scratches can be buffed away without worrying about ruining the surface. B.M.C. applies a transparent lacquer for a high-gloss finish.

The Arcadia speaker is available from Aaudio Imports, its North American distributor, in a black or white satin or high gloss finish at a suggested price under $39,000/pair.

Aaudio Imports Introduces Majestic Three-Way Speaker System by Lansche Audio of Germany

Lansche Audio's new No. 7 Speaker

New Model No. 7 Boasts Acoustic Fidelity, Flexibility
And Innovation Plus Legendary Corona Plasma Tweeter

INTERNATIONAL CES 2012, LAS VEGAS, Jan. 10, 2012 — Aaudio Imports, a leading supplier of world-class high-end audio products, introduces the Model No. 7 Three-Way Passive Loudspeaker System by Lansche Audio of Germany, featuring Lansche’s legendary Corona Plasma Tweeter, at CES 2012, beginning here today.
The No. 7 Speaker unites acoustic fidelity, uncompromising quality and technical innovation with an extraordinary flexibility to achieve the best possible audio experience regardless of room characteristics. It delivers musical performances that sound as direct and natural as when they were originally performed, with no restrictions in dynamic range, frequency spectrum or the pleasure of feeling transported to a live musical experience.

The new No. 7 Speaker includes a new, improved version of the Corona Tweeter, a new aluminum front baffle, integrated adjustable footers for perfect leveling, and bi-wiring terminals. All are housed in a pair of majestic, masterfully crafted cabinets, 69 inches high by 17 inches wide by 24 inches deep, that are as dramatic in appearance as they are dynamic in sound.

The speakers reproduce midrange frequencies using two 4-inch cone drivers from Audio Technologies. They also use four 8.7-inch long-throw drivers for bass, the Corona Plasma Tweeter for higher frequencies, and two passive bass reflex ports in the rear. The 4-inch drivers’ low mass integrates crucial midrange frequencies with the plasma tweeter, while the 8.7-inch woofers consist of coated fabric cones of glass fiber and polyester.

A hallmark of Lansche technology, the Corona Plasma Tweeter, employs an 8mm-long electric arc to directly activate the surrounding air as a sound transmission medium. It comes closer than any other tweeter to the ideal of a point-shaped sound source with zero mass. The tweeter’s arc of resonance-free, voltage-modulated air helps it avoid the limitations of conventional tweeters to achieve outstanding impulse, phase and amplitude response, and an exact, three-dimensional sound. As a result, the No. 7 delivers faithful, coherent musical reproduction with incredible precision, speed and economy.

The rear of each speaker includes a connection panel with input terminals that accept banana plugs and spades for midrange and high frequencies, six terminals for making treble and bass adjustments, an IEC AC power jack, and a fuse. Two jumpers and two cable bridges per speaker are included with each pair of No. 7 Speakers. Bass reflex ports and an on/off switch rest in the middle of each back panel, and pairs of cooling vents are on the sides.

The particular acoustics of a room influence the sound of every speaker. A room’s design, the positioning of the speakers, the influences of furniture, curtains, and other objects can negatively affect the quality of a listening experience. One of the great virtues of the No. 7 is that it can be adjusted to the acoustic properties positioning restrictions of any room in which it is employed. For example, a sparsely furnished room without sound-absorbing elements such as carpets tends to produce an exaggerated treble response. A room with many sound-absorbing elements will make the treble seem duller. The two jumpers on the speakers’ rear terminal panel are for adjusting both the treble and bass responses. To change one, the user can simply pull out a jumper and reinsert it into a more appropriate of the available six terminals.

Lansche’s No. 7 Loudspeaker is available now from Aaudio Imports at suggested prices of $100,000/pair in a Satin Veneer

About Lansche Audio
Based in Konstanz, Germany, on the shores of Lake Constance, Lansche Audio was founded by Rudiger Lansche in 1998, shortly after beginning manufacture of the Corona Plasma Tweeter. The tweeter is exclusive to Lansche and legendary for its extraordinarily accurate three-dimensional sound. Through considerable research, Lansche developed midrange and bass drivers fast enough to keep up with the Corona’s lightning-quick response. Speaker models No. 3, Cubus, No. 4.1, No. 5, No. 8.1, No. 7 and No. 5.1 followed, providing Lansche with a powerful line of highly expressive high-performance speakers. Lansche also implemented steady design improvements in the Corona Plasma Tweeter making it, in Lansche’s opinion, the best tweeter in the world. Pass Labs Launches New Xs Amplifier Series

Three Years of Refinements Help the Multi-Chassis Xs-300 and Xs–150 Amps, First in the Series, Sound Subjectively as Beautifully as They Measure

INTERNATIONAL CES 2012, LAS VEGAS, Jan. 10, 2012 — Pass Labs introduces the Xs-300 and Xs–150 Amplifiers, first entries in a new generation of Xs Series amplifiers, at CES 2012, beginning here today.

The new amps are designed to measure well objectively and, equally important, sound subjectively as well as they measure, an exacting engineering challenge that has led to a multitude of ear-pleasing refinements. Pass Labs’ new enhancements further narrow the gap between what scientific measurements report about amplifier performance and what the human ear subjectively hears.

The Xs-300 and Xs–150 Amplifiers are monoblock models delivering 300 and 150 watts, respectively. Both models employ double-stacked chassis, with the power supply and current source in one chassis and the input and main output stage in the other chassis. The separate power supplies enable a bounty of benefits, including lower electromagnetic noise, twice as much storage capacitance as earlier Pass Labs amps, banks of high-speed/soft-recovery rectifiers, improved high-frequency noise filters, bigger and better transformers, improved passive decoupling, massive heat sinks, and lower standby currents.

The Xs Series has been three years in development. The first year, Pass Labs settled on the power supply and physical package. The second year, Pass Labs finalized the output stage and front end. The third year, the company refined the front end and the biasing of the output stage.

In the process, Pass Labs applied a number of new refinements, including adjusting the values for push-pull Class A biasing and the amount of single-ended bias in the output stage. It also significantly increased the single-ended bias in the output stage over earlier Pass Labs amplifiers. All three changes delivered major improvements. Pass Labs also installed sturdy output stage transistors, with a combined capacity well over 10 KW, and massive heat sink assemblies capable of 2 KW all day long.

The Xs-300 and Xs–150 Amplifiers will be available 1st Quarter 2012 from authorized Pass Labs dealers at suggested prices of $85,000 and $65,000 per pair (U.S. MSRP), respectively.

Aaudio Imports Introduces Exquisite Three-Way Speaker by Lansche Audio of Germany

No. 5.1 Speaker in optional finish of European burled maple

Model No. 5.1 Boasts Legendary Corona Plasma Tweeter and
Musical Reproduction as Natural and Engaging as Live Performance

PARKER, CO, Nov. 22, 2011 — Aaudio Imports, a leading supplier of world class high-end audio products, introduces into the U.S. market the No. 5.1 Three-Way Loudspeaker by Lansche Audio of Germany, featuring Lansche’s legendary Corona Plasma Tweeter.

The No. 5.1 Loudspeaker is designed to produce music that sounds as direct and natural as when it was originally performed. With the speaker presenting no restrictions in dynamic range, frequency spectrum or reproducibility, listeners feel as if they had been transported into the middle of a live music experience.

The No. 5.1 Speaker replaces Lansche’s Model No. 5. It includes a new, improved version of the Corona Tweeter, a new midrange driver from Audio Technologies, a new crossover design, a slightly taller cabinet with a new aluminum front baffle, a new internal cabinet design, and a higher quality finish for the cabinet.

It reproduces sound using a 4-inch cone driver for midrange frequencies, two 8.7-inch long-throw drivers for bass, the Corona Plasma Tweeter for higher frequencies, and a passive bass reflex port. The low mass of the 4-inch driver seamlessly integrates the crucial midrange frequencies with the plasma tweeter, while the 8.7-inch woofers produce a solid bottom end, well beyond the usual home volume levels.

The Corona Plasma Tweeter, a hallmark of Lansche technology, comes closer than any other tweeter to the ideal of a point-shaped sound source with zero mass, since it employs an 8mm-long electric arc to directly activate the surrounding air as a sound transmission medium. The tweeter’s arc of resonance-free, voltage-modulated air helps it avoid the limitations of conventional tweeters to achieve outstanding impulse, phase and amplitude response, and an exact, three-dimensional sound. As a result, the No. 5.1 delivers faithful, coherent musical reproduction with incredible precision, speed and economy.

The No. 5.1 Speaker also boasts a meticulously crafted, 41-inch high cabinet with sandwiched composite walls that are the basis for the loudspeaker’s outstanding audio performance. Thanks to the cabinet’s extensive internal cross-bracing matrix and the application of custom-made damping materials, cabinet wall resonances have been reduced to vanishingly low levels. There is no opportunity for the cabinet to develop any resonant response of its own. Inputs include one for the midrange frequencies and tweeter, one for the bass, and a bi-wiring terminal on the back that can be adjusted to help the tweeter better match a room’s acoustic characteristics.

Lansche’s No. 5.1 Loudspeaker is available now from Aaudio Imports at suggested prices of $40,000/pair in a Satin Veneer
finish, and $45,000/pair in a High Gloss Veneer
or a Piano Black Lacquer finish.
