td1-copy.jpg

Omaha, NE – Omaha is a city that loves its baseball. And despite the lack of a major league franchise, there’s nothing minor league about the new TD Ameritrade Park. The $128 million stadium, home to the Creighton Bluejays and the NCAA’s premier event, the College World Series, has brought a major league baseball experience to the city.

The 2011 College World Series took place last month for the first time in the NCAA Division I Baseball Championship’s new 24,300 seat stadium. It is among the game’s most technologically advanced, with modern features including microphones embedded in home plate and the pitcher’s mound, the second largest video board in the state of Nebraska, and a sub-air system within the playing surface that can either heat or cool the field.

The venue is also outfitted with high-tech sound reinforcement and broadcast cabling systems designed by Austin, TX-based BAI and more

MX8 and MX10 family

Community Professional Loudspeakers is introducing two new stylish, high performance monitors to its M-Class Series. Applications for the new MX8 and MX10 models include houses of worship, corporate presentations, musical theater, education facilities, television, studio and live music performance.

Handling 300W and 500W program respectively, the 8-inch MX8 and 10-inch MX10 use Community’s proprietary co-axial driver units. This results in exceptionally smooth phase and frequency response performance with reduced feedback, improved intelligibility and uniform coverage exactly where it’s needed. The MX8 and MX10 are ideal for single performers who often move off-axis and for group performers such as theater acts and choirs.

Sound for U of Alabama’s Historic Foster Auditorium

University of Alabama Foster Auditorium

Tuscaloosa, AL – For many, the University of Alabama’s Foster Auditorium is remembered as a “ground zero” for the civil rights movement of the early 1960s. It was on June 11, 1963 in front of these doors that then-Governor George Wallace made his infamous Stand in the Schoolhouse Door, attempting to resist integration by blocking two black students from enrolling in the University.

Built in 1939, the hall was home to UA’s basketball teams in the 1970s and 1980s, as well as regularly hosting graduations, lectures, concerts and other large gatherings. The building is named for Autherine Lucy Foster, the first black student to be accepted and enrolled at UA.

With the opening of the neighboring Coliseum, the building eventually lost its standing as the campus’ largest indoor structure, and in recent years had fallen into disrepair. Recently, Foster Auditorium underwent a major renovation, reopening as home to more

Bemidji has been dubbed the curling capital of the US, and Bemidji natives have represented in the last two Winter Olympic Games. Not surprisingly, ice hockey is also held in high regard, so it’s hardly surprising that the city recently invested in a state-of-the-art event center.
