ASHLY GEAR CHOSEN FOR SEDONA’S ENCHANTMENT RESORT

enchantment_clubhouse.JPGSEDONA, ARIZONA – APRIL 2012: Words hardly do justice to Enchantment Resort in Sedona, Arizona. The upscale retreat is tastefully nestled within a red rock canyon in a way that makes the views from the pools, rooms, restaurants, lounges, and spa breathtakingly open and serene. It is a rare amalgam of backcountry camping’s beauty and modern hospitality’s comforts in which neither aspect is compromised.

Enchantment Resort began an eight-million dollar renovation to its main building, the Clubhouse, this past November. This building houses the resorts front desk, restaurants, bar, specialty wine bar, pool and pool bar, and an activity center. The Clubhouse renovation was completed and reopened just in time for their peak spring break season, which typically brings 100% occupancy. With an entire makeover of all restaurants, bars, public areas, front desk, retail shopping, and a new pool almost three times the more

livinghopechurch_stage.JPGBOWLING GREEN, KENTUCKY – APRIL 2012: Living Hope Baptist Church in Bowling Green, Kentucky is not unlike other mid-sized churches. “Although we had always been happy to embrace new audio and video technologies over the years, the fact that we had fallen behind crept up on us slowly,” said the church’s creative arts pastor, Jon Farmer. In order to stay true to the church’s stated relationship with supporting technologies – “to better connect people with our message,” in Farmer’s words – Living Hope recently undertook a significant overhaul of its video system. Aided by the experts at dB Audio and Video of Gainesville, Georgia, the church now has a full HD presentation and recording system centered on Panasonic cameras, switchers, and projectors. Despite the truly vast improvement in performance, the cost was only a fraction of what it would have been just a few more

Constructed in 1977, Trask recently benefitted from a $2 million makeover that included new floors, seating, scoreboards, a new video board, and a new high-intelligibility sound reinforcement system. South Dakota-based Daktronics designed and installed the multi-purpose arena’s new A/V system, which includes Danley Sound Labs loudspeakers. Daktronics chose the Danley SH-100B and SH-100 boxes based on their exceptional intelligibility, pattern control, and value.

“We were on a very tight budget,” explained Mike Maloney, regional audio sales associate with Daktronics. “We always strive for high-efficiency systems, but at UNCW, more

WIRELESS FIRST/CLAIR GLOBAL DELIVER ANOTHER NBA ALL-STAR SLAM DUNK

nba_allstar_weekend2012.JPGORLANDO, FLORIDA – MARCH 2012: This season’s NBA All-Star Weekend, which included “rising stars” contests, a slam dunk contest, and similar events in the run up to Sunday night’s big game, took place at the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida. Although basketball took its rightful place at the center of the festivities, performances by Nicki Minaj, Pitbull, Chris Brown, and Ne-Yo with Nayer framed the event, and high-energy audio set the tone throughout. Even the American and Canadian national anthems, sung by Mary J. Blige and Neverest, respectively, were amped. As they did last year, NBA Entertainment entrusted Wireless First/Clair Global with the monumental task of (1) handling wired and wireless audio for all of the performers and events and (2) delivering it to the house and to the broadcast feeds, in addition to providing behind-the-scenes communications.

MUSICAL POLYMATH JACK HALE DOTES ON METRIC HALO

jack_hale.JPGSAFETY HARBOR FLORIDA – MARCH 2012: Jack Hale does it all, and he does it all well. An instrumentalist, a musician, a composer, an engineer, and a producer, Hale has enjoyed a storybook career. Inspired by the successful and meaningful lives of his father and uncle, musicians both, Hale took up the trumpet at thirteen and quickly obtained a virtuosic proficiency that earned him a place in the music department at the University of Memphis. Hale befriended John Fry and Joe Hardy, and they gave him the keys to Ardent Studio to use as he wished in the off hours. Meanwhile, Hale was selected as the trumpet player in the Memphis Horns and had a hit single to his credit at the tender age of twenty (on Al Green’s “Full Of Fire”). While touring as a trumpet player with Johnny Cash, Cash recognized Hale’s more

ASHLY PEMA™ IN THE BIG HOUSE

yaphank_correctional.JPGLONG ISLAND, NEW YORK – MARCH 2012: Although the universe of institutions that require professional sound reinforcement includes churches, schools, and other places that can make a sound integrator feel warm and fuzzy at the end of the day, it is also populated by places like the Yaphank Correctional Facility (YCF) on Long Island, New York. The new $133-million building will house 650 inmates when it is finally commissioned for operation in the spring of 2012. To deliver both routine and safety-related information, Pro Sound Alliance (Troy, New York) a division of Live Sound, Inc., provided a three-tiered redundant paging system centered on the (figuratively) bulletproof Ashly Pema(tm).

The new YCF is designed around six “pods,” each of which will house one-hundred, or so, inmates in a way that maximizes the efficiency with which they can be guarded. Beyond the pods, more
