pema_group.JPG

WEBSTER, NEW YORK – MAY 2010: Ashly Audio’s promise to “Simplify Integration” continues with the introduction of pêma (Protea Equipped Media Amplifier), a unique powered processor, at InfoComm 2010. This introduction sets a new industry benchmark for value-engineered zone sound systems. By seamlessly merging Ashly’s powerful, open-architecture DSP functionality with Ashly’s renowned amplifier performance inside a two-rack space unit, pêma lowers overall system cost, occupies less space, improves energy efficiency, and both speeds and simplifies system installation and programming. Four and eight amplifier channel versions are available at both 125 and 250 Watts per channel. Depending on the configuration, pêma’s MSRP spans a modest $2,000 to $4,000, putting its benefits-to-costs ratio through the roof. more

SUN VALLEY, IDAHO – APRIL 2010: Legendary rocker and bluesman Steve Miller continues to enjoy a life of recording and touring. Together with respected engineer Kent Hertz (Godsmack, Julio Iglesias, Gloria Estefan) and eminent producer Andy Johns (Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones, Van Halen), Miller is currently re-recording with the same passion that has attended him his entire life. SYMNET UPGRADES WARNER CENTER MARRIOTT BALLROOM

warnercenter_marriott.JPG

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA – APRIL 2010: Located in the San Fernando Valley on the northern edge of Los Angeles, the Warner Center Marriott has been catering a wide range of events – including corporate meetings, Hollywood parties, large galas, sweet sixteens and weddings – in its 11,000 square-foot, 1,500-seat ballroom for quite some time. The space is extremely flexible and, with the capacity to subdivide into ten smaller meeting rooms, can be configured up to twenty different ways to meet the needs of any particular event. But for over a decade, the hotel had suffered with a ballroom sound system that was not nearly so flexible, ever-threatening embarrassing technical glitches unbecoming of so posh a setting. Fed up, the Warner Center Marriott cut its losses and replaced the uncooperative system with an exceptionally versatile and utterly intuitive sound system centered on Symetrix’ SymNet open-architecture DSP and Symetrix wall panels. more

McCLELLAND SOUND GOES FOR ASHLY AMPLIFICATION AND SIGNAL PROCESSING AT AUGUSTA HIGH SCHOOL

ne2424m.JPG

AUGUSTA, KANSAS – APRIL 2010: Like many schools built in the 1970s, Augusta High School in Augusta, Kansas had outlived the usefulness of its sound reinforcement systems and, given the new and relatively inexpensive technologies available today, was ready to shed the clunky interfaces and fuzzy fidelity to which everyone had become inured. The school hired Wichita-based McClelland Sound, among the largest and most experienced sound engineering and contracting firms in Kansas. Founded at the dawn of sound reinforcement in 1928, McClelland is responsible for literally thousands of installations in all manner of buildings throughout the region. Vice president Scott Martin, who began his career with McClelland in 1974, took Augusta High School’s case and, in place of a market leader, used Ashly network-ready amplification and signal processing to give the school worry-free, easy-to-use, and utterly transparent reinforcement. more

SYMNET DSP COMBINES ANALOG SOUND WITH TINKER-PROOF OPERATION FOR VETERAN SOUNDMAN TERRY FRIEDMAN

terry_friedman.JPG

NEW YORK, NEW YORK – APRIL 2010: Longtime FOH engineer and production manager Terry Friedman (Village People, Grace Jones) has, in recent years, stepped off the tour bus to offer schools, houses of worship, and other establishments in New York City his no-nonsense approach to audio under the ironic name Noise and Distortion. Reacting against industry dogma that sets digital equipment apart from its analog forbears, Friedman rightly points out that we only hear in analog and so a unit’s analog representation is ultimately all that matters. But Friedman is no Luddite and frequently relies on SymNet open-architecture digital signal processing equipment to convey analog warmth with digital logic, flexibility, and power, safe from tinkering fingers. more
