MediaMatrix by Peavey will release version 1.4.2 of its NWare™ software, as well as memory upgrades and new I/O hardware, for the NION® programmable digital audio processing node at InfoComm 2008.

NION NWare version 1.4.2 is fully compatible with the Windows® Vista® operating system and adds support for network time protocols that allow NION to sync with network time servers or an Internet-based atomic clock. In addition, NION nX, n6 and n3 nodes now ship with upgrades in flash memory up to 2 GB to enable additional storage of audio, project files and background music loops, plus enhanced efficiency for messaging, audio playback, recording and multi-tasking within the NION system. more

The University of Southern Mississippi honored Hartley and Mary Peavey with its Distinguished Entrepreneurs of the Year Award on April 10 in Hattiesburg.

Hartley and Mary Peavey are the first recipients to share the annual USM College of Business award, and Mary Peavey is the first woman to receive the honor. In a lecture to the College of Business following the awards luncheon, Hartley Peavey urged students to focus on the future. more

California desert rockers Queens of the Stone Age went for a radical change of scene recently when they performed an exclusive one-off gig for 300 fans in a German salt mine.

Billed as the world‘s deepest gig ever, fans were transported 2,300 feet underground to hear Queens of the Stone Age perform through a Crest Audio Pro 200™-powered sound system supplied by audio rental and production specialists Complete Audio Berlin.
Complete Audio‘s André Rauhut admitted that the Sondershausen salt mine definitely ranked at the top of his “most unusual venue” list, and was pretty close to earning “most challenging,” as well. The first task was to bring all the components underground, where they were left for 36 hours to adjust to the climatic conditions of the underground chamber. Then his crew handled the massive reverberations coming off the walls. Throughout it all, Rauhut said that his Crest Audio Pro 200 Series amplifiers were a very important part of the signal chain. more
