Cabletime Launches Media Manager Tool & MediaStar LAN-Caster DVB has public debut at ISE 2013

London, 30 November 2012. At Integrated Systems Europe (29 – 31 January 2013, RAI, Amsterdam), Cabletime, developer of the powerful MediaStar Evolution range of IPTV distribution solutions is to unveil its brand new Evolution Media Manager software, which will provide customers with enhanced functionality for controlling and scheduling the content they wish to distribute across their enterprise network.

The Media Manager is a core feature of Cabletime’s MediaStar Evolution, delivering a fully integrated content management system from a single interface which schedules all media sources and monitors every aspect of the distribution network, from the head-end to multiple screen locations.

The new version has been completely re-designed with a fresh interface (GUI), enriched functionality and improved ease of use. Additional features mean that as well as a central control function, users can also remotely control the system via an iPhone, iPad or smartphone, and estate floor plans will be integral to the application aiding with the location of units, screens and DMD.

The drag and drop function has been enhanced, allowing users to manage media – including PowerPoint presentations converted to HTML or WMV, live MPEG 2 or H.264 streams, SD/HD MPEG files, JPEG images and web pages – onto digital media decoder (DMD) units for easy manipulation and editing of the playlist and selection list.

Mike Cuckow, Sales Director, EMEA Asia Pacific at Cabletime, said: “The ease of use and functionality of the new Evolution Media Manager belies the very clever technology that sits behind it. Users will find it intuitive, easy to control and easy to upgrade and it makes monitoring of the system and scheduling, using the time-based playlist, so much more straightforward.”

Cabletime will be showing the Evolution Media Manager on its booth Booth 4-R36.
LAN-Caster DVB SD/HD
Also making a debut at ISE will be the latest additions to the MediaStar Evolution LAN-Caster range, which now allows the live streaming of news, sport, entertainment and information in both SD and HD from digital terrestrial and digital satellite channels into the LAN.

The new Evolution LAN-Caster DVB-T/T2 (Terrestrial) and DVB-S/S2 (Satellite) will feature a DVB-CAM slot for single or multiple channel decryption per single MUX, and within each MUX will deliver up to 15 concurrent TV and/or radio channels. Users will be able to deliver to the LAN a range of 2, 8 or 12 concurrent encrypted SD and HD channels from one single unit. All units support Session Announcement Protocol (SAP).

Cabletime is expecting to demonstrate the new features, focusing particularly on the advantages they provide in reducing project costs per channel by maximising the 15 channel count per device. Prices for the LAN-Caster range start at £1295 and upgrades for existing customers are available for under £150.

“We have so much to shout about at ISE 2013,” said Mike Cuckow. “The Media Manager software will be brand new and will enhance all of our MediaStar products, providing fantastic new features to help users navigate and manage their content distribution across the network easily and with confidence. We are also delighted to be demonstrating the LAN-Caster line up for the first time in public, highlighting the flexibility and upgrade options and showing customers how they can take advantage of the growing number of digital SD and HD channels.”

The MediaStar range provides TV/AV and multimedia distribution products primarily for medium to large enterprises, which require future-proof, stable and proven solutions for live TV, corporate communications, multicasts, music TV, training and digital signage.

New MediaStar LAN-Caster Brings SD and HD Terrestrial and Satellite Streams to the IP Network

Cabletime, developer of the powerful MediaStar range of IPTV distribution solutions is launching new products in its Evolution LAN-Caster range. The LAN-Caster streams live news, sport, entertainment and information in both SD and HD from digital terrestrial and digital satellite channels into the LAN.

The new product line-ups, Evolution LAN-Caster DVB-T/T2 (Terrestrial) and DVB-S/S2 (Satellite), will feature a DVB-CAM slot for single or multiple channel decryption per single MUX, and within each MUX will deliver up to 15 concurrent TV and/or radio channels. The new solutions will enable users to deliver to the LAN a range of 2, 8 or 12 concurrent encrypted SD and HD channels from one single unit.

The MediaStar Evolution DVB-T/T2 line-up includes the 783-T; 783-T-CI (with DVD-CI); 783-T2; 783-T2-CI and the 783-T to T2 Upgrade. Customers and resellers can purchase a low cost entry-level DVB satellite or DVB terrestrial blade and upgrade it to take advantage of HD TV, and where available, Pay TV channels. The DVB-S/S2 line up comprises the 784-S2; 784-S2-CI (with DVD-CI); and the 784-S2-CI Upgrade. Both base products can also be upgraded to support the CAM module, DVB-CI.

“The great advantage of these features is that they reduce the project costs per channel by maximising the 15 channel count per device and with prices starting from £1295 and upgrades under £150 they represent incredible value,” comments Mike Cuckow, Sales Director, EMEA & Asia Pacific, Cabletime. “There is full flexibility to move between multiplex to access available channels via our SIP IP API commands.”

The LAN-Caster is designed to receive the digital terrestrial or satellite signal off-air DVB signals and to extract the digital data out of the MPEG-2 stream so it can be re-packetised in a format suitable for transmission over an IP-based network. Channels can be selected according to user preference and both new products will feature auto configuration through the MediaStar Media Manager enterprise software.

Another key feature of the DVB-T/T2 and DVB-S/S2 products is that they provide full support for third party API control options, including AMX Netlinks™ and Crestron QM-RMC™ through the RS232/USB port. Users can, therefore, extend their control system options and reduce hardware costs by using the ports on each Evolution LAN-Caster. The control system commands are passed through the RS232 ports and on to the MER control peripherals with full support for any command response.

Password protection and enablement coding that provides the option to field upgrade is included; the new products also feature front panel setup and configuration; and an integrated IR Blaster provides optional MER equipment control.

“The new LAN-Caster line up offers flexibility, upgrade options and the reassurance of MediaStar’s robust, proven technology, to ensure customers can take advantage of the growing number of digital SD and HD channels,” said Mike Cuckow. “Suitable for applications ranging from banking, financial institutions and international corporate organisations through to retail outlets, stadia and hotels, the new products will ensure that audiences across the IP network receive the highest quality SD and HD broadcasts.”

The MediaStar range, which has a strong, established heritage, includes TV/AV and multimedia delivery products for use over Cat-5/UTP and IP infrastructures, providing solutions for live TV, corporate communications, multicasts, music TV, training and digital signage.

Cabletime introduces graphical mapping feature for MediaStar Media Manager Software

London, 13 March 2012. Cabletime, developer of the powerful MediaStar range of IPTV distribution solutions is introducing a new feature to its MediaStar Evolution Media Manager software that will map the location, and check the functionality, of all units, including screens and players, within a graphical representation of the system, or the building in which they are sited.

The Media Manager enterprise software gives full drag-and-drop control of all Evolution IPTV system hardware and screens, as well as enabling the configuration and scheduling of all the digital media, video and signage assets for play-out. System managers can take a floor plan or diagram of the building or system layout and from this create multiple ‘work areas’. Images of the specific Evolution units can then be dropped into the correct location in the work area, where they will be represented by an icon. The icon flashes so it can be quickly located and opens to reveal the full configuration and technical details of the unit. Any loss of connectivity will also trigger an alert, allowing the operator to identify the specific unit and its actual location within the building – invaluable in identifying faults and delivering remedies quickly and efficiently.

Nick Bradford, Managing Director at Cabletime, said: “Our objective with Evolution Media Manager is to enable our customers to get full functionality and performance out of their Evolution system. This new feature ensures that the whole system can be checked easily, and any faults or interruptions can be remedied quickly with minimum disruption to the media or video broadcast. It ensures that maintaining the right content at the right place at the right time is a breeze.”

The new graphical mapping feature is available now on all Evolution units.

The MediaStar range, which has a strong, established heritage, includes TV/AV and multimedia delivery products for use over Cat-5/UTP and IP infrastructures, providing solutions for live TV, corporate communications, multicasts, music TV, training and digital signage.

MediaStar IPTV brings the action to visitors at Dubai’s Meydan Racecourse

UK, 13 December, 2011. Visitors to Dubai’s iconic Meydan Racecourse can now see all the action throughout the massive complex thanks to the recent expansion of the MediaStar Evolution IPTV and signage system connected to all the networked displays.

Opened last year, the Meydan is the largest and most well appointed race track in the world with unparalleled facilities for up to 60,000 racegoers in the grandstand with its restaurants, private boxes and viewing galleries as well as world class amenities for jockeys and trainers in the technical areas. These demanding requirements made MediaStar Evolution “a natural choice for the complex” said Syed Abdul Wahab, CEO of Mindstec Distribution.

The installation of the powerful HD IP-based video and AV distribution solution from Cabletime has been carried out by regional technology integrator, Genesis Integration and incorporates an Evolution head-end streaming live action, TV or digital signage content to MediaStar-equipped screens across the complex. The easy-to-use Media Manager software behind Evolution allows Meydan management to control and manage each or all of the displays in its stadium-wide screen network to their full advantage.

Because MediaStar Evolution is designed specifically to deliver digital TV, media and AV content over IP networks, Meydan Racecourse can simultaneously programme informational messages in the public areas – including safety messages – whilst also streaming live racing or show company videos, presentations or targeted information in the conference rooms.

“This was an exciting and prestigious project for Genesis Integration. The complexities of different video feeds formats, the integration with broadcaster’s technologies, existing networks and head- ends, as well as the staged approach to a very rapid deployment of over 600 display locations in various public areas made this project a rarity for our organisation. All of this could not have been done without the extraordinary support of the Meydan Project Team”, said Tony Abou Jawad, Director of Genesis Integration.
