Matrox Mura Network API Brings Exciting New Digital Signage Functionality to Mura-based Video Walls

Attention-grabbing digital signage effects and fast HTML5 renderer to be demonstrated at ISE and DSE 2014

Matrox® Graphics Inc. today announced the immediate availability of a new version of Matrox Mura™ Network API for Mura MPX video wall controller boards. The updated API lets ISVs add eye-catching transitions and effects to their video wall software. It also provides a high-performance HTML5 renderer that enables integration of social media, weather information, animations and other online data feeds into digital signage.

Matrox Mura Network API enables new transitions and effects such as window rotation.

The latest presentation effects will be demonstrated on Matrox Mura-powered video walls at upcoming tradeshows including Integrated Systems Europe 2014 (Amsterdam RAI, Feb. 4-6, stand 11-M66) and Digital Signage Expo 2014 (Las Vegas, Feb. 12-13, booth 348). Content from baseband sources, streaming network sources, local media players and live HTML feeds will be captured, moved, scaled, switched, rotated, zoomed, faded, alpha blended and color keyed with stunning visual quality. Multiple transitions will be combined to create an endless variety of complex, striking effects.

“AV integrators around the world have long relied on Mura-based video walls in control room installations,” said Helgi Sigurdsson, product manager, Matrox Graphics. “Now with the new functionality enabled by the Mura Network API in applications from our partners, digital signage integrators will be able to use the same high quality, robust hardware to create cost-effective and engaging signage and presentation video walls in corporate, government, retail, restaurant, sports, museum, casino and house of worship environments.”

Availability
The Mura Network API and the lower level C/C++ style DWC API are available to developers now. Several ISVs will be adding the new Mura functionality to their applications so that digital signage integrators will soon be able to easily create layouts and transitions limited only by their imaginations. Matrox partner announcements are expected in Q1, 2014. For more information, contact Matrox Graphics.

Matrox at Digital Signage Expo 2014 — Product Preview

H.264 encoders/decoders, video wall controller boards, and external multi-display adapters to be showcased

At DSE 2014 (Las Vegas, Feb. 12-13, booth 348), Matrox® Graphics Inc. will present Matrox Maevex™ 5100 Series H.264 encoders/decoders, Matrox Mura™ MPX Series video wall controller boards and Matrox DualHead2Go and TripleHead2Go™ external multi-display adapters. Demonstrations will show digital signage integrators and retailers how to create high-impact, memorable and interactive user experiences for their customers using Matrox multi-display products.

H.264 Encoders/Decoders
Matrox Maevex 5100 Series delivers excellent streaming quality at a fraction of the price of traditional encode/decode systems. Maevex video over IP solutions enable the extension of Full HD quality 1080p60 video over standard IP networks. Bitrates are user definable between 100Kbps and 25Mbps allowing for multiple streams on both 100Mb and 1000Mb standard networks. Maevex H.264 Encoders and Decoders capture, stream, and decode video from a variety of sources, and even allow for software-based decoding on non-Maevex devices. At DSE 2014 digital signage integrators will discover how they can take advantage of Maevex’s high MTBF and fanless design to create low maintenance point-to-multipoint installations as well as encode/stream solutions where digital signage players do the decoding. Maevex units come bundled with Matrox PowerStream™ software, allowing for easy remote management of Maevex devices and enabling a wide variety of user-defined stream-management features including unicast and multicast networking.

Video Wall Controller Boards
Matrox Mura MPX Series video wall controller boards feature flexible inputs and high-quality outputs allowing integrators to easily and cost-effectively build custom video walls of almost any size using a single high-density controller system. Matrox and third-party software options include simple control from Android™ and iPad® devices and easy integration with existing controller systems. At DSE 2014, digital signage integrators are invited to witness a demonstration of rich transitions and eye-catching effects applied to both recorded and live content using the latest Mura Network API. Integrators will soon be able to use software from Matrox partners to blend existing signage content with content from other sources to create attention-grabbing video walls.

External Multi-Display Adapters
Matrox DualHead2Go and TripleHead2Go external multi-display adapters let users add two or three monitors to a small player PC or desktop computer that does not have an expansion slot for a multi-display graphics card. They connect to the video output of the system and use its existing GPU to provide high quality, uncompressed graphics and video across all monitors. The DSE 2014 demonstration will show interactive multi-touch performance across the multiple screens for use in interactive kiosks, way finding, retail and exhibit display walls, as well as collaborative multi-panel classroom, boardroom, and command & control installations.

Matrox and 3M Collaborate to Deliver Interactive Multi-Touch, Multi-Display Solutions

Multi-touch support across stretched multi-monitor desktops under Windows 7 simplifies interactive display wall implementation

Matrox® Graphics Inc. and 3M™ Touch Systems (subsidiary of the 3M Electronic Solutions Division) announced that both companies have validated a new 3M touch driver that will support multi-touch functionality across two, three or more 3M Multi-touch Displays powered by a variety of Matrox multi-monitor products. Integrators can now pair Matrox products with 3M Multi-touch Displays to create attention-grabbing, interactive digital signage and collaborative video walls that span multiple displays, without the need for touch overlays or licensing fees. Applications include interactive kiosks, way finding, retail and exhibit display walls, as well as collaborative multi-panel classroom, boardroom, and command & control installations.

Matrox and 3M Collaborate to Deliver Interactive Multi-Touch, Multi-Display Solutions

“With our Mura MPX, DualHead2Go and TripleHead2Go products, multiple displays are seen as one large stretched desktop, and standard off-the-shelf touch displays typically have had difficulty supporting this stretched-desktop mode,” said Caroline Injoyan, Business Development Manager, Matrox Graphics Inc. “3M’s new driver overcomes this limitation and provides a simple way for integrators to add engaging interactivity to their multi-screen digital signage setups.”

Matrox Avio KVM Extender to Drive EIZO 4K LCD Display at IBC2013

10Gbps-capable unit extends 4K video signal with zero compression, zero latency through dual-link DVI connectivity

Matrox® Graphics Inc. today announced compatibility of the Matrox Avio™ F125 fiber-optic KVM extension solution with the EIZO DuraVision FDH3601 monitor, which features 8.8 megapixels (4096×2160 native resolution) across a 36.4″ screen.

The DuraVision FDH3601 comes with two DVI-D and two DisplayPort™ inputs and an advanced set of specifications including 1.07 billion display colors from a palette of 278 trillion, a 1,000:1 contrast ratio, 700 cd/m2 brightness and an 8ms response time.

Matrox Avio is designed to extend a workstation’s displays and peripheral devices while maintaining system performance with zero compression and zero latency at the remote user station. With its feature-rich connectivity options, it enables the extension of two HD videos or one 2K/4K video, plus keyboard, mouse, stereo analog audio and USB 2.0 devices over a single duplex LC-LC fiber-optic cable up to 400 m in multimode and 4 km in single mode. Extension of 4096×2160 resolution video at 30Hz is ideal for preview and playback of 4K Cinema or Ultra HD video content. For image processing applications that require a higher refresh rate, two Avio pairs can deliver an incredible visual experience on the EIZO 4K display at 60Hz by maintaining synchronization of the two dual-link video signals.

“Many of our customers are moving to high resolution displays and have the need to back rack and centralize their mission-critical computing resources,” said Kazuhide Shimura, Board Member & Managing Officer at EIZO. “Matrox Avio provides the extension performance needed for 4K image processing applications.”
