Extron Now Shipping EDID Emulator for HDMI

Extron Electronics is pleased to announce the immediate availability of the EDID 101H, an EDID Emulator for HDMI signal sources. It features EDID Minder, an Extron exclusive technology designed to provide automatic and continuous EDID – Extended Display Identification Data management, ensuring that the source powers up properly and reliably outputs content. The EDID 101H also features a unique HPD – Hot Plug Detect port that provides control for remote cameras and other signal sources that require a periodic HPD trigger.

Extron Now Shipping Larger HDMI Distribution Amplifiers

Extron Electronics is pleased to announce the immediate availability of two new, larger HDMI distribution amplifiers as part of its HDMI DA Series product line. The HDMI DA4 with four outputs, and HDMI DA6 with six outputs, are HDCP compliant and support HDMI specification features including data rates up to 6.75 Gbps, 12-bit Deep Color, 3D, Lip Sync, and HD lossless audio formats. They also support HDTV 1080p/60, 2K, and PC resolutions up to 1920×1200. For ease of integration and reliable operation, the HDMI DA Series features two Extron-exclusive technologies: EDID Minder, which maintains continuous EDID communication between connected devices, and Key Minder, which continuously authenticates HDCP encryption between all devices, ensuring the simultaneous distribution of source content to connected displays. Extron Announces New Fiber Optic DisplayPort Extender for Signals up to 2560×1600

Extron Introduces New Eight-Channel Audio Extractor for 3G-SDI

Extron Electronics is pleased to introduce the 3G-AE 100, a high performance audio extractor for 3G-SDI, HD-SDI, and SDI digital video signals. It automatically detects the incoming 3G-SDI/HD-SDI/SDI data rate, de-embeds up to eight channels of digital audio, and then converts it to line level, analog audio. The 3G-AE 100 features an equalized 3G-SDI/HD-SDI/SDI input and eight analog audio outputs that are switch-selectable to support audio groups 1 through 4. A buffered and reclocked 3G-SDI/HD-SDI/SDI loop-through allows two 3G-AE 100 units to be cascaded to support up to 16 channels of embedded audio. The 3G-AE 100 is ideal for use in applications where digital audio must be extracted from a 3G-SDI, HD-SDI, or SDI signal and converted to line level, analog audio.

“SDI signals are steadily gaining popularity as a way to transmit high definition video signals in commercial AV systems, but converting embedded digital audio into a form that can be used in AV systems has been a challenge,” says Casey Hall, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Extron. “The 3G-AE 100 joins our growing line of SDI products and provides a simple, convenient solution for de-embedding SDI audio for playback through a house audio system or similar needs.”

The 3G-AE 100 de-embeds eight channels of digital audio from SDI groups 1/2 or 3/4, and outputs it as line level, analog audio on captive screw connectors. Two units can be cascaded to support applications in which 16 channels of audio are required. In addition, the 3G-AE 100 features automatic input equalization up to 500 feet (150 meters) for HD-SDI and SDI signals, and up to 400 feet (120 meters) for 3G-SDI on Extron RG6 cables. Input cable equalization reduces the need for additional signal conditioning equipment by compensating for weak source signals or signal loss from a long input cable.

A convenient front panel data rate indicator provides visual confirmation of input data rates for quick identification of the incoming digital video signal. The 3G-AE 100 is housed in a compact 1U, quarter rack width metal enclosure for easy integration into both new and existing AV systems.

Extron Opens Product Demonstration and Training Facility in New York

Extron Electronics is proud to announce the opening of a product demonstration and training facility in New York City. At the heart of the new facility in mid-town Manhattan is a large demonstration room, showcasing the latest Extron products and technologies. Hands-on stations let guests experience live demonstrations of video signal processing, AV signal distribution, configurable control, and audio products. A fully equipped, state-of-the-art training room features a 4×2 video wall powered by a Quantum video processor. A conference room, featuring the Teamwork Collaboration System, can be used for meetings and presentations.

Extron Now Shipping Eight Input Scaling Presentation Switchers with DTP Extension

Extron Electronics is pleased to announce the immediate availability of the IN1608, an eight input, HDCP-compliant scaling presentation switcher with four HDMI inputs, two universal analog video inputs, and dual HDMI outputs. It also features two Extron DTP 230 twisted pair inputs and a DTP 230 output for extending HDMI, audio, and bidirectional control signals to DTP 230 transmitters and receivers, each over a single CATx cable up to 230 feet (70 meters). The IN1608 provides the convenience of supporting local and remote displays with fast and reliable input switching, and a high performance scaling engine that converts all HDMI and analog sources to the optimal resolution. Selectable output resolutions are available up to 1920×1200, including 1080p and 2K. The IN1608 also includes a host of audio switching and processing features. It is available as a standard model with two stereo audio outputs, the IN1608 SA that adds a stereo 4/8 ohm power amplifier, and the IN1608 MA with a mono 70 volt amplifier. Together with flexible control options and many additional features, the IN1608 provides complete AV system integration capabilities.

“The IN1608 provides complete AV switching, scaling, twisted pair signal extension, and audio amplification in one box,” says Casey Hall, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Extron. “Integrators can take advantage of the built-in DTP extension to streamline system designs in conference rooms, lecture halls, and other environments with local and remote sources and displays.”

The two DTP 230 twisted pair inputs can receive signals from remote DTP 230 transmitters in areas such as a conference table, lectern, or wall for connecting a guest laptop. The DTP 230 twisted pair output can be used to transmit from an IN1608 in a rack to a DTP 230 receiver behind a flat-panel display on a wall, above a ceiling-mounted projector, or any other remote location. To simplify installation, bidirectional RS-232 and IR signals can be inserted from a control system and transmitted over the single CATx cable together with the video and audio, enabling control of a source or display. The IN1608 can also remotely power each of the DTP 230 transmitters and receiver over the same CATx cable, streamlining system design and installation.

In addition to video switching and processing, the IN1608 can serve as the central component for audio system integration. It includes eight-input audio switching, two mic/line inputs, HDMI audio embedding and de-embedding, and several audio processing features for mixing, ducking, tone adjustments, and more. Audio configuration features and options can easily be accessed through the internal Web pages, with an intuitive GUI that provides access to all available adjustments and settings. Two IN1608 models feature integrated power amplifiers. The IN1608 SA delivers stereo power amplification with 50 watts rms per channel into 4 ohms and 25 watts rms per channel into 8 ohms, while the IN1608 MA provides mono 70 volt amplification with 100 watts rms output.

The IN1608 features an advanced scaling engine that can scale HDMI, RGB, component, and standard definition video signals to a common high resolution output. It provides high performance 1080i deinterlacing and Deep Color processing to deliver optimal image quality. To simplify integration of HDMI sources and displays, and to help ensure optimal system performance and dependability, the IN1608 features three Extron-exclusive technologies: EDID Minder®, Key Minder®, and SpeedSwitch®. EDID Minder and Key Minder automatically manage EDID communication and HDCP key negotiation between input and output devices to ensure reliable operation. Extron Introduces New Media Presentation Switcher with DTP Extension

Extron Electronics is pleased to introduce the MPS 602, a simple-to-use, six input media presentation switcher for digital and analog sources. It offers digital video switching with three HDCP-compliant HDMI inputs and one DTP 230 twisted pair input, and analog video switching with two RGB inputs that are digitized for distribution to the digital outputs. For increased flexibility, the MPS 602 includes a selectable DTP 230 twisted pair or HDMI output. The DTP 230 input and output extend video, audio, and bidirectional control signals to DTP 230 transmitters and receivers, each over a single CATx cable up to 230 feet (70 meters). The MPS 602 also includes several audio switching and processing features, available power amplification, plus flexible control options for complete switching and distribution with local and remote display support. The MPS 602 is available in three models: a non-amplified version with a variable preamp output, the MPS 602 SA that adds a stereo 4/8 ohm power amplifier, and the MPS 602 MA with a mono 70 volt amplifier.

To simplify installation, bidirectional RS-232 and IR signals can be inserted from a control system and transmitted over the single CATx cable together with the video and audio, enabling control of a source or display. The MPS 602 can also remotely power the DTP 230 transmitter and receiver over the same CATx cable, streamlining system design and installation.

The MPS 602 includes six-input analog audio switching, a mic/line input with 48 volt phantom power, HDMI audio embedding and de-embedding, and several audio processing features for mixing and ducking. The Mic Talk Over feature automatically reduces program audio when it detects a microphone signal, replacing the need for a separate, standalone ducking processor. To streamline audio setup, the MPS 602 features front panel mic and program audio output volume controls that allow for independent adjustment of mic volume, program audio volume, and muting. Two MPS 602 models feature integrated power amplifiers. Extron Introduces New Market-Leading Speaker Innovation for Suspended Ceilings

Extron Electronics is pleased to introduce the SpeedMount® Ceiling Speaker System, a patented low profile, plenum rated two-piece ceiling tile speaker system for division-of-labor installations. The CS 1226T SpeedMount speaker system features the newest speaker innovation from Extron, a unique speaker design that greatly simplifies ceiling speaker installation and delivers significant time and cost savings. The two-piece system consists of the CS 120P plenum rated enclosure and a CS 26T two-way speaker cartridge. A low-voltage contractor places the CS 120P enclosure directly on the ceiling grid without the need for a tile bridge, C-ring, or tile rails. Signal wiring is then routed to the enclosure. This dramatically cuts installation time and costs during the rough-in phase. Later, an AV technician can quickly complete installation by connecting the CS 26T speaker cartridge to the wiring and securing it into the enclosure. The CS 1226T is the latest in Extron’s expanding lineup of speaker system solutions that divide the installation labor between contractors, reduce parts counts, and streamline sound system integration.

The CS 1226T is available as a complete assembly of a pair of CS 120P enclosures and a pair of CS 26T speaker cartridges. The enclosures and speaker cartridge can also be purchased in pairs separately, so they can be delivered to low-voltage and AV system contractors.

The CS 120P plenum enclosure installs quickly into 2′ x 2′ (61 cm x 61 cm) or metric 600 mm x 600 mm suspended ceiling grids. It features a shallow 5″ (12.7 cm) profile, which simplifies installation into congested ceiling spaces around piping and ducts. The integrated tile bridge of the enclosure rests on the ceiling tile above the grid, evenly distributing the weight of the CS 120P and the CS 26T speaker cartridge. This avoids the need to assemble V-rails and C-rings, greatly reducing the number of installation steps and the chance of losing installation hardware.

The CS 26T speaker cartridge features a 6.5″ (16.5 cm) woofer and a 3/4″ (1.9 cm) tweeter in a coaxial design, and can be used in 70/100 volt or 8 ohm operation. It installs quickly and easily into the CS 120P enclosure. The CS 26T delivers high performance, full-range audio reproduction with a frequency response of 70 Hz to 20 kHz, and is optimized for a wide range of audio presentation applications for music, program, and voice. It features a power rating of 30 watts continuous pink noise and 60 watts continuous program capacity, and offers both direct 8 ohm or 70/100 volt operation with a behind-the-grille, six position power selector switch. The CS 26T features a magnetically attached grille and a thin-edged bezel for a refined appearance on the ceiling.

VNS 104 Multi-Stream Decoding Software Now Available

Extron VNS 104Extron Electronics is pleased to announce the immediate availability of its VNS 104 Multi-Stream Decoding Software. This new software decodes and presents one or four video sources and one associated stereo audio source streamed from VN-Matrix® 225 or 200 Series Encoders, or a VN-Matrix Recorder. VNS 104 multi-stream decoding software includes text overlay and status messaging features, which are valuable for distinguishing between AV sources during operation and system commissioning.

“VN-Matrix streaming systems often manage many sources, therefore we’ve seen a real need to present multiple source streams on a display,” says Casey Hall, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Extron. “VNS 104 software, provides a convenient, cost-effective solution to decode and monitor one or four streams on a single display.”

VNS 104 multi-stream decoding software operates on Windows® PCs and is managed as a part of a system by a VN-Matrix Enterprise Controller. It offers aspect ratio management for VN-Matrix streams, including FILL, FOLLOW, and a 1:1 mode, which can be applied independently to each decoded source. VNS 104 provides an effective method for monitoring multiple streaming sources in a variety of environments including command and control, after action review, training and simulation, and medical or geological visualization.
