ELAN g! 6.0 Expands Streaming Music Services With Support For Fusion Research Ovation Music Streamers

ELAN® Home Systems today announced that its ELAN g! 6.0 software includes full two-way integration with Fusion Research’s Ovation audio streamers, providing owners with access to more streaming music services than ever before. With this addition, ELAN g! owners can now enjoy their favorite music from a dramatically expanded selection of digital sources including Slacker, MOG, TuneIn, LIVE365, last.fm, Pandora, SiriusXM, CBC-40, CBS Radio, BBC, SKY.fm, AccuRadio, and more. Fusion Research’s Ovation audio streamers also simplify access to music stored on PCs and iTunes libraries by providing digital streaming content and local content via a single input connection.

According to CORE Brands Control Category Director, Joe Lautner, giving end-users more music choices will help dealers sell more g! systems and strengthen ELAN’s position as one of the fastest growing home control platforms.

“Our new integration with Fusion’s Ovation streamers is further proof that the ELAN g! system is the industry’s most expandable and capable home control solution,” Lautner said. “We will continue to integrate with the industry’s best products and biggest brands to give end-users the best home entertainment and control experience and provide dealers with the features and capabilities their clients demand.”

Another strength of the Fusion Ovation products is their ability to deliver 3-5 discrete streams of music from one box. This simplifies the installation and maintenance of consumers’ systems while giving them more options in the home than the traditional consumer-oriented plastic box streaming products.

Amplifying that point, ELAN Brand Manager Robert Ridenour added, “Consumers today have more media options than ever with new delivery services popping up at breathtaking speed, and ELAN is dedicated to providing all of our customers with the latest media content that they demand to make their home entertainment options as versatile as they are accustomed to on their mobile devices.”

In keeping with ELAN’s commitment to create best of breed drivers, integrating g! with Fusion Research’s Ovation series music streamers is simple and efficient. All the dealer needs to do is install the Ovation streamer according to its simple instructions, then add the streamer in the g! media tab. The g! system discovers the Ovation streamer on its own and the user interface screens are automatically built. The whole process requires only a few minutes effort.

As an incentive for dealers to promote the Fusion Ovation audio streamers to their clients, ELAN has announced that dealers who purchase a deeply discounted Fusion demo system will receive a coupon for a significant savings on a future Fusion Research purchase. ELAN dealers can download the Fusion Research demo order form from the ELAN dealer website.

The ELAN g! Control System provides users with the most uniform and intuitive icon-based control from their favorite devices including TVs, touchscreens, touchpads, PCs, and Android and iOS mobile devices. The standardized interface works across platforms, so that the trendy g!Mobile app users love on the iPhone appears and works identically on Android and ELAN touchscreens, valets and handheld remotes. And the system’s IP backbone makes it just as easy to control the system from across the room – or across the globe.

Individual “apps” for each subsystem allow the user to control security, door locks, climate, lighting, media, irrigation, pool/spa, messaging, video and photos with the flick of a finger. Access is fast and secure through any ELAN home interface or globally with mobile Internet enabled devices like the iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad, Netbooks, Android phones & tablets and personal computors. Since the intuitive interface empowers users with personalized scheduling and detailed history views, high consumption subsystems like lighting and climate can be closely monitored and managed for a greener lifestyle – and substantial energy savings.

Inside Columbia Magazine Installs ELAN g! System To Gain Total Control In Kitchen

When Fred Parry, publisher of Inside Columbia magazine, was looking to enhance the publication’s in-house cooking class, Culinary Adventures, he wanted his chefs to have instant control of the live video camera so they could easily manage how the classes are presented to attendees. While planning their new state-of-the-art kitchen classroom, Parry asked the custom installation team at D&M Sound if there was a control system that would give his chefs complete control of the kitchen and provide fast, simple control of the audio, video, lighting, HVAC and surveillance systems. D&M rose to the challenge by equipping the new kitchen with an ELAN g! Entertainment and Control System that gives the staff the ability to control everything with the push of a button!

With the ELAN g! system the staff can now easily control the camera that films live culinary details and display the video feed on three flat screen TVs that hang above the kitchen. The cameras serve double duty when classes are finished, providing 24/7 security and monitoring for the expensive professional-grade kitchen. Each ELAN g! audio zone can play audio from CD players, iPods, traditional radio, TV or computers. The system also allows the chefs to direct the live audio from their microphones to any or all of the audio zones. The g! system is easy to use and can be accessed from anywhere in the world using any laptop or iOS or Android mobile device.

“Inside Columbia was looking for a system that would not only give them total control over every aspect of the kitchen, but would also be easy to learn,” said Anne Moore, owner of D&M Sound. “We knew right away that the ELAN g! system was the perfect choice. The simple-to-use interface allows the chef to have complete control over the production of the class, so that when he’s teaching a class, he can use one of the 8 camera presets to personally choose the camera angles and decide when to zoom in on the food.”

The system uses the ELAN HC8 controller, one ELAN NWA 18 network router and switch, one ELAN M86 6-zone audio controller, four Paradigm speakers and a Xantech video distribution amp used to feed the three TVs. The chef’s counter features a custom set of buttons that allow the chef to control the movement of the overhead camera, and two wireless microphones allow the audience to clearly hear the cooking presentation.

Parry demoed a number of control systems before eventually deciding that the ELAN g! system offered everything he was looking for. “We were looking for a system that could offer close-up shots of what our chefs are doing with their hands, as well as a number of other key shots during the classes,” said Parry. “Our goal was to give our cooking class participants a ‘front row seat’ in the kitchen, and the ELAN g! system allowed us to accomplish that. Other systems we looked at didn’t even come close to offering that level of versatility or flexibility.

“The g! system has significantly increased the production value of our cooking presentations. Our guests can now watch our chefs cook on crystal clear monitors that we can easily control from an iPad. I would highly recommend the system to anyone who has a similar need for total control. There’s a big ‘wow’ factor in our ELAN system and we couldn’t be happier with it.”

The ELAN g! Control System provides users with the most uniform and intuitive icon-based control from their favorite devices including TVs, touchscreens, touchpads, PCs, iPhones and iPads. The standardized interface works across platforms, so that the trendy g!Mobile app users love on the iPhone appears and works similarly on ELAN touchscreens, valets and handheld remotes as well as users’ televisions and mobile devices. And the system’s IP backbone makes it just as easy to control the system from across the room – or across the globe.

Individual “apps” for each subsystem allow the user to control security, climate, lighting, media, irrigation, pool/spa, messaging, video and photos with the flick of a finger. Access is fast and secure through any ELAN home interface or globally with mobile Internet enabled devices like the iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad, Netbooks and PC Tablets. Since the intuitive interface empowers users with personalized scheduling and detailed history views, high consumption subsystems like lighting and climate can be closely monitored and managed for a greener lifestyle – and substantial energy savings.

Advanced Installs An Immersive One-Of-A-Kind AV System In Jack Astor’s Flagship Toronto Location

When the management team at Jack Astor’s Bar and Grill was looking to make their new flagship Toronto location stand out completely from any other restaurant around, they did what they’ve done 15 times in the past, and turned to Advanced, Canada’s leading audio-visual presentation products and solutions specialist, and Jack Astor’s go-to provider for all things AV. Advanced equipped the restaurant with a completely original AV solution that enhances the customer experience and includes an impressive 5-display by 5-display video wall, the largest permanent video wall the company has ever installed inside a restaurant.

“We have a longstanding history with the Jack Astor’s chain, so they knew that we would be able take their concepts and turn them into realities,” said Mark Mulford President at Advanced. “The management team at Jack Astor’s wanted the biggest video display possible, so our team of experts created a massive video wall that completely distinguishes this location from any other restaurant around. Nothing else even comes close.”

Advanced provided the restaurant with a 5×5 NEC video wall that is visible from literally anywhere in the restaurant, making an impact on patrons as soon as they walk through the door. The video wall allows customers on both the floor and mezzanine levels of the restaurant to enjoy satellite programming while they dine. Advanced also implemented several strategically placed ‘video wall trees’ throughout the restaurant. These ‘trees’ consist of a metal pipe that goes from the ceiling down to the floor, with each holding two plasma screens, making it so that everybody in the restaurant is able to watch the game at all times.

According to Mark McPherson, Vice President of Sales at Advanced, the key to making the St. Lawrence restaurant stand out was to try something that has never been done before. “Advanced has implemented AV solutions in close to 15 other Jack Astor’s locations, so they knew that we were capable of coming up with a plan that would make their new location completely stand apart from anything done before,” said McPherson. “We not only installed our biggest restaurant video wall ever, but we equipped the restaurant with over 70 LCD displays, designed and constructed the video wall trees, and integrated a full audio solution. Everyone at Jack Astor’s, from the management to the customers, is loving the new setup.”

In fact, the management team at Jack Astor’s is so happy with their new AV system, that they are planning to have Advanced go back to previous Jack Astor’s locations that they’ve worked on, to update those systems with the same innovative technology used in the St. Lawrence restaurant. Advanced is also currently working on integrating a similar AV solution in a Kingston-based Jack Astor’s restaurant.

NanoLumens Takes The Stage At The 2012 Toronto International Film Festival To Help Artists For Peace And Justice Raise Money For Haiti

When you’re throwing a fundraising event that brings together a collection of the biggest names in show business, you need a display setup that shines as bright as the guest list. The event organizers behind the Artists for Peace and Justice know this, which is why they decided to use two NanoLumens® 114” NanoSlim™ displays to show the entire crowd the on-stage action that included several musical performances.

Artists for Peace and Justice, a fundraising effort that encourages peace and social justice, recently held an event during the 2012 Toronto International Film Festival. The celebrity-backed event included a musical performance by Arcade Fire, which was seen by all who attended, thanks to the two NanoLumens displays that were set up on both sides of the stage.

According to David Weatherhead, Vice President of APG Displays, the company that managed the entire event and NanoLumens’ Canadian distributor, NanoLumens’ displays were the perfect choice for the event, due to their size and energy efficiency.

“When you’re working on an event as important as this, you want to be able to deliver in every way possible, which is why we used two NanoLumens displays to give the crowd the best possible view of the stage,” said Weatherhead. “Because the event was held in a tented venue on the lawn of a large estate, power consumption was a concern, as we were using a generator. NanoLumens displays not only require low power, but also are capable of incredible brightness, providing everyone with a beautiful and clear picture.”

The high-profile event drew a crowd that included actors, musicians, and philanthropists, all of whom helped raise over $500,000 within just 4 hours! The third annual event raised the money to help build schools and art centers in the slums of Haiti.

“NanoSlim displays offer the ideal picture quality and size for this type of event,” said Josh Byrd, Director of Marketing at NanoLumens. “With a big crowd, you need to have a display setup that allows every person to see what is happening on stage, and our NanoSlim displays do just that, making it possible for everyone to see the performances on a screen that is as big as it is brilliant.”

NanoLumens displays are extremely slim, ultra-lightweight, energy efficient, and feature a seamless, edge-to-edge picture quality that can be viewed from any angle or any distance without color shift or picture drop-off. The company’s patented display technology, which allows customers to select from 4mm up to 10mm pixel pitch (depending on the model), promises to transform the way marketers engage their customers in every type of trade show, retail, hospitality, stadium, arena, transportation and public event environment.

Take1 And Fireman’s Fund Donate $15,000 To Mountains Recreation And Conservation Authority

Take1 Insurance, the entertainment industry insurance division of U.S. Risk, Inc., in partnership with Fireman’s Fund, yesterday presented a $15,000 donation to The Mountains Recreation and Conservation Authority (MRCA) for the purchase of new handheld firefighter radios. The MRCA is dedicated to preserving the region’s open space for the public and posterity, and fighting wildfires is frequently a big part of that job. MRCA firefighters work to protect more than 150,000 acres of mountainous terrain, deep canyons, forest and grassland that are part of the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area.

“Budget constraints make it difficult for many agencies to purchase all of the equipment they need to do their jobs effectively and safely,” said Scott Carroll, Program Director at Take1 Insurance. “We’re proud to help in such a tangible way knowing so many communities will benefit from this donation. We also want to thank our clients, without whom this large donation would not be possible. Take1 is here to help, whether it be helping our clients protect their businesses or helping communities prevent and manage natural disasters.”

MRCA officials, firefighters, and executives from Take1 Insurance and Fireman’s Fund came together for a special public event at Fireman’s Fund headquarters in Burbank, CA.

“Communications on the scene of a fire is key to effective firefighting and keeping firefighters safe,” said Fire Management Officer David Updike. “With this equipment, we will be better able to protect this unique, valuable asset to the community.”

The grant is part of a nationwide philanthropic program funded by Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company. The program is designed to provide needed equipment, training and educational tools to local fire department and burn prevention organizations. Since 2004, Fireman’s Fund has issued grants to more than 1,800 different organizations totaling more than $29 million – including more than $8.5 million in California. Independent insurance agencies and brokers that sell Fireman’s Fund products, like Take 1 Insurance, are able to direct these grants to support the fire service.
