Listen Technologies Introduces New Control Features for ListenPoint

Listen Technologies expands its audio integration and amplification solutions for classrooms, training rooms and meeting rooms with new third party control features.

ISE Stand#E108 Listen Technologies has expanded ListenPoint capabilities with the introduction of control from external control systems. This new feature expands presentation capabilities by enabling integration of a control system with a ListenPoint system.

ListenPoint amplifies a presenter’s voice to deliver clear, intelligible audio in classrooms, training rooms, boardrooms and multi-purpose spaces. ListenPoint also integrates and controls multi-media audio sources and extends the same consistent audio experience to both the audience in the room and remote participants through applications such as Skype, WebEx, and GoToMeeting.

“Now presenters can control projectors or displays from the ListenPoint M1 or select audio sources, control volume, or get battery status from an external control panel,” noted Tracy Bathurst, ListenPoint Product Group Leader at Listen Technologies. “This option allows teachers and presenters to focus on what’s important – engaging the audience and presenting an impactful message.”

External control systems are connected through the Listen Bus port of the ListenPoint R12 Room Module using a Cat-5e cable and RS485 protocol to interface to the control system. Configuration is done either through the ListenPoint configuration software. ListenPoint can control volume, mute, M1 battery status, M1 connection, report serial/model numbers, report or set relay state, report 6-12 volt input state, page audio present, and report/set active aux input. All commands are text based for easy programming and compatibility with most control systems.

For full information on ListenPoint contact Listen Technologies at
+1.801.233.8992 or info@listentech.com.

Listen Technologies will be providing product demonstrations at ISE of the new ListenPoint control features and its RF and IR solutions at Stand #E108.

Listen Technologies Steps Up At Walk4Hearing™

For the third year in a row Listen Technologies picked the Hearing Loss Association of America and its Walk4Hearing as a charity to support as part of AV Week.

(October 15, 2012) Bluffdale, Utah, USA — Listen Technologies Corporation announced that the third annual Salt Lake City Walk4Hearing raised $19,000 to support the Hearing Loss Association of America (HLAA).

The Walk4Hearing is one of HLAA’s programs to support people with hearing loss. It serves to raise awareness about hearing loss, helps to eradicate the stigma associated with it, and raises funds to provide information and support for people with hearing loss. Since 2006, the Walk4Hearing has raised over $2 million and has become the largest series of walks for hearing loss in America.

Every spring and fall thousands of walkers form teams and walk in their communities to raise money for programs and services for people with hearing loss and to increase public awareness. Listen Technologies organized the Listen Trek Team to participate in the walk and raise money in support of the Walk4Hearing.

The foreboding rain withheld and a festive and inspiring atmosphere took over the day’s activities. Over 300 people came out to Sugarhouse Park on Saturday, October 13 to support those with hearing loss and help raise funds to bring awareness to this invisible yet rampant situation. 17% or 36 million people in the United States alone experience some degree of hearing loss. “With this kind of prevalence the reality is that we all know or will soon know someone with hearing loss, noted Kristin Rector, Listen Trek Team Captain.

The Listen Trek Team raised just over $3,000 through combined efforts of reaching out to family and friends asking for donations and sponsorships. Listen is pleased to recognize all the Salt Lake City teams for their fundraising success.

“We got involved with the inaugural Walk4Hearing three years ago and knew immediately it was a natural fit for our philanthropic efforts,” commented Rector. “In addition to raising money we’ve also had the privilege of providing our Hearing Loop and RF Assistive Listening solutions at their events. It’s rewarding to know that an event like the Walk4Hearing can make such a difference.”

Money raised will be used in communities across the country – to fund communication access with CART, to pay for installation of hearing assistive technology in public places, to fund scholarships for college, outreach efforts, and more exciting projects. All programs and services are with a goal of creating awareness, helping people understand hearing loss prevention, and eradicating the stigma associated with hearing loss. Listen Technologies One-Day Installation & Commissioning of Loop Systems Underway

Listen Technologies has begun conducting the One-Day Installation & Commissioning of Loop Systems training to meet the growing demand for hearing loop systems and to ensure the quality of loop installations for assistive listening customers in the Americas.

Participants in Chicago begin the hands-on testing and commissioning of the hearing loop.

Bluffdale, Utah, USA — Listen Technologies conducted its initial One-Day Installation & Commissioning of Loop Systems sessions last Tuesday in Chicago and last Thursday in New York City. The next two sessions are scheduled for Thursday, October 11, 2012 in Los Angeles and Thursday, November 6, 2012 in Salt Lake City. For a full schedule go to www.listentech.com/loop-training.

There is a growing demand for hearing loops for a variety of environments. In order to meet this demand and to assure systems deliver consistent value and real benefits to end users, Listen Technologies is building a network of trained and certified Listen Loop Integration Partners across the Americas. Attending the One-Day Installation & Commissioning of Loop Systems session is mandatory to qualify as Level 2 Listen Loop Integration Partner to sell and install Phased Array solutions from Listen Technologies.

“A properly designed, installed and operating Listen Loop solution delivers real tangible benefits to the end user. It is hard to communicate in words the reaction end users have when they hear a properly installed and operating system, it is more often than not a profound emotional moment.” stated Steve Woolley, Listen Technologies Wireless Listening Product Group Leader. “To assure this is possible in every potential application, we are working with our integration partners to bring together the skill sets to ensure that Loop solutions are installed and supported to meet legal compliance obligations, and IEC standards.”

At all levels of the market, there is significant growth in demand for loop systems and assistive listening systems in general. To meet this demand Listen is training and certifying contractors and integrators for mid-size installations, house of worship applications as well as consultants and large scale AV integrators for growing university, government and corporate applications. Qualified and certified Listen Loop integrators will be clearly differentiated in the market by their ability to design and install superior performing high value systems that meet the IEC 60118-4 standard.

Leo Garrison, of Metro Sound Pro’s notes “Although we understood loop systems, Listen’s training in installation and certification has really helped us in creating installations that deliver IEC complaint, uniform coverage and frequency response and that deliver true value to our customers and the hearing impaired community.”

Listen Technologies partnered with Ampetronic in April 2012 to distribute audio induction loop systems in the Americas. Ampetronic is the world leading provider of audio induction loop systems for assisting individuals with hearing loss. Listen Technologies Announces Induction Loop Training & Certification Schedule

Listen Technologies has developed multiple levels of training to ensure the quality of loop installations for assistive listening customer in the Americas.

In response to tremendous interest in Induction Loop technology at InfoComm 2012 Listen Technologies is pleased to announce its Induction Loop Training & Certification Program schedule. Visit www.listentech.com/loop-training.

Hearing Loop solutions are the preferred standard and widespread throughout the rest of the world. Only recently has the technology begun to win favor and be installed in a wide range of venues in North America. This is the result of grass roots efforts of the hard-of-hearing community who demand the benefits that this technology can bring to them. The demand is escalating significantly as the overwhelming majority (90 %+) of hearing aids are today being specified with T-Coil loop receivers installed as standard.

In order to support this demand, starting this month, Listen Technologies will be training & certifying “Qualified Listen Loop Installation Partners” in every major metropolitan area in the Americas.

“Listen is the leader in the expanding Loop market,” stated Steve Woolley, Listen Technologies Wireless Listening Product Group Leader. “We are working with qualified installation partners to bring together the skill sets and parties to ensure that all Loop solutions are installed and supported to meet legal compliance obligations, IEC standards and the needs of the community.”

Hearing loops can be installed in a variety of environments, from larger venues such as theatres, conference facilities, houses of worship to smaller one-on-one communication settings such as ticket counters and meeting rooms. Mobile Loop solutions also benefit those that need hearing assistance in taxi cabs, trains, and buses.

Contractors and Integrators for mid-size installations and house of worship applications are needed for the immediate demand. Also, large scale AV integrators will be needed to support the growing consultant designs for University, Government and Corporate applications. Qualified and certified Listen Loop integrators will be clearly differentiated in the market by their ability to design and install superior performing high value systems.

“There are many variables in the ‘real world’ that must be taken into account for a system to be successfully specified installed and operated, noted Woolley. “Although many may understand loop systems fully, we have outlined this comprehensive support program to address the varying needs of each installation.”

To be able to purchase Induction Loop products from Listen Technologies, a dealer must complete the Basic Induction Loop Training webinar. In order to purchase Phased Array kits dealers must complete the Installation and Commissioning of Induction Loops one-day class.

For an overview and schedule of the Basic Induction Loop Training webinar and the One-Day Installation & Commissioning of Induction Loops visit www.listentech.com/loop-training.

Listen Technologies partnered with Ampetronic in April 2012 to distribute audio induction loop systems in the Americas. Ampetronic is the world leading provider of audio induction loop systems for assisting individuals with hearing loss.
