The San Diego Zoo recently partnered with Natural Encounters, Inc. (NEI) to present a unique bird-themed entertainment experience at the Zoo’s Hunte Amphitheater. SOAR: A Symphony in Flight is scheduled to run for 17 months, and required the Zoo and the SOAR’s producers to invest in permanent sound reinforcement for the show.

CBC Technical, Inc. (Murrieta, Calif.) worked closely with Buck Tallman and Dave Brown from EV reps Quantum Sales & Technology to design and install an extensive Electro-Voice sound system to provide high-resolution sound for the SOAR’s atmospheric soundscapes. Crossword Christian Church in Riverside, Calif. recently upgraded its sound system on a massive scale, replacing the systems in its sanctuary, courtyard, and children’s wing with an assortment of Electro-Voice equipment from CBC Technical, Inc. (Murrieta, Calif.).

Crossword’s new sanctuary system comprises five Phoenix PX2152 boxes in a flown left-center-right configuration (including a central cluster of three) with two Phoenix PX2181 subs on the ground at stage left and right, with Dynacord VL262s compact double-six-inch, two-way loudspeakers as delays. George P. Miller Stadium, home of the Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) (Indiana, Pa.) Crimson Hawks, recently received an upgrade to its sound system with Electro-Voice Sx series loudspeakers provided by Edward Simon & Co (Pittsburgh, Pa.) and installed by Doug Varner Sound Company.

The Lake Erie Crushers, the newest Frontier League expansion baseball team, played their first game at their new ballpark in Avon, Ohio on June 1. The Crushers won 5-2 against the Windy City Thunderbolts, but the real story was All-Pro Freight Stadium, the Crushers’ brand-new, state-of-the-art facility fitted with equipment from Electro-Voice.

All-Pro Freight Stadium is owned by the City of Avon and, in addition to providing a home for the Crushers, will serve as a venue for a variety of high school and amateur baseball tournaments, large concerts, and other outdoor events. The stadium has enough seating in bleachers and box seats for more than 7,600 spectators, and features 11 private suites, a terrace with four-person tables, outfield berm seating, and picnic and patio areas for group outings.
