Pro Audio Technology CEDIA 2014 Demo Defies Convention

PRO Audio Technology is mixing things up. With a focus on value and installation flexibility, PRO still plans on delivering an incomparable audio experience – there’s just one small difference.

CEDIA EXPO 2014 – Denver, CO – September 10-13 – SR-18 – For CEDIA Expo 2014, PRO Audio Technology (PRO), the leading supplier of high-output loudspeakers and DSP-programmable amplifier systems, has constructed a value-oriented, surround sound demo system that promises to set new standards in performance for multipurpose media rooms and secondary home theater applications.

“In previous years, our CEDIA Expo demo focused on extremes: 270 pound subwoofers, massive screen-wall loudspeakers, 10,000 watts of amplification and concert-level SPLs,” said Larry Reagan, VP of Sales for PRO. “The market has seen an increase in the popularity of media room systems and even bedroom home theater systems. We thought this year would be a great time to demonstrate a value-engineered system specifically designed to meet those needs—a system that our dealers can sell every day, so to speak, that still very much delivers the big dynamics, the big visceral energy, the big cinema experience for which PRO is renowned.”
Speakers for this year’s demo have been specifically selected with an eye toward economy, space-savings, and uncompromised performance. PRO has not disclosed the details of what exactly is being demoed, as not to diminish the “wow factor”. The PRO Team intends to leave an impression, and change the way audio is enjoyed outside of dedicated home theaters.

Along with unique and thoughtfully selected content, PRO will also give a brief demonstration of its proprietary PRO SoundTools audio calibration software, which was named a CEDIA Best New Product Finalist. PRO SoundTools paired with PRO products provides essential response shaping, time alignment, boundary effect correction, and signal compensation by way of simple drop-down menus and a slick, intuitive user interface.

Linear Launches Intelligent Three-Way Z-Wave Light Switch

Unlike most three-way switches that require a traveler wire, this smart switch can be installed just about anywhere there’s AC power

Carlsbad, CA – July 7, 2014 – Leading security and home automation, access control, and health and wellness manufacturer for residential and commercial markets, Linear LLC today announced the launch of its 3-way Z-Wave® smart switch, model WT00Z™. The new Z-Wave smart switch allows remote ON/OFF control and dimming of as many as five other Z-Wave controlled lights, and adds another intelligent control solution to Linear’s Internet of Things (IoT) portfolio. Linear, including its 2GIG® brand of products, is the largest user of Z-Wave chipsets in the world. Obituary

The Linear® WT00Z™ smart switch gives professional security and home automation installers an invaluable tool by offering a desirable home control lighting function that previously was either not possible or practical. Because the Linear 3-way smart switch does not directly control a load, it can serve as a virtual 3-way switch and be wired anywhere power is available, without the need for a traveler wire. When paired with a 2GIG® Go!Control® system, or other brand of home automation controller, the 3-way Z-Wave smart switch offers simple control of one, two or as many as five other lights, making it easy for consumers to quickly illuminate or extinguish lights with a simple flip of a nearby wall switch.

“This new 3-way Z-Wave switch is extremely important to our portfolio of connected devices. It solves a vexing problem for installers, while bolstering the capabilities and value of the Go!Control® automation panels they install. Controlling a light from two locations is a convenience most people have come to expect, but anyone who’s done electrical wiring knows it’s not always that simple,” said Duane Paulson, senior vice president of product and market development for Linear. “This new Z-Wave smart switch makes it easy. This is another example of our commitment to bring smarter products to market that add convenience, while enhancing the value of our 2GIG® home control platform, which continues to accelerate in popularity.”

Linear is also a principal member of the Z-Wave Alliance. “Z-Wave is at the heart of the world’s largest ecosystem of interoperable smart products, and it will continue to grow. Our partnership is stronger than ever and we remain committed to bringing innovative, intelligent Z-Wave control solutions to the residential and commercial markets,” continued Paulson.

Z-Wave® is an international wireless standard for intelligent, interoperable, low-power, RF mesh networking technology. This powerful smart chip and compact protocol enable two-way RF communications among Z-Wave enabled devices. Linear is now manufacturing, selling and distributing Z-Wave lighting control products that include: wall dimmers, wall switches, wall outlets, lamp modules, appliance modules, 3-way switches/dimmers, fixture modules, as well as international versions of the same products plus other Z-Wave enabled security and convenience devices. Linear also has the capability to utilize its extensive OEM experience to manufacture Z-Wave products for partner companies seeking their own intelligent lighting solutions.

Pro Audio Technology Appoints ByDesign Vision and Sound Marketing as Regional Rep Partner

The new venture headed up by former Stewart Filmscreen vice president Joaquin Rivera will represent Pro Audio Technology in southern California, southern Nevada, Arizona and Hawaii.

Lake Forest, CA – July 7, 2014 – Pro Audio Technology (PRO), the leader in loudspeakers and DSP-programmable amplifier systems for residential properties, today announced the appointment of ByDesign Vision & Sound Marketing as a regional rep partner in California, Nevada, Arizona and Hawaii. ByDesign is the creation of former vice president global sales for Stewart Filmscreen, Joaquin Rivera.

“Joaquin has established himself as an influential member of the CEDIA community through many years of great success at Stewart. He is an expert on all things related to home theater sales and technology, so I have no doubt ByDesign will be a tremendous success,” said Paul Hales, Pro Audio Technology founder. “He also understands our unique value proposition in the elite home theater space and will no doubt help Pro Audio Technology expand in the western region.”

Later this year, Pro Audio Technology is set to launch a new multi-purpose demo, showroom, and training facility to showcase PROs high-powered cinema grade loudspeakers and DSP-programmable amplifiers with partner home theater products. The facility will be a valuable education and experience hub for all PRO reps and dealers to use when courting clients or training staff.

“During my time with Stewart, some of the most powerful and impressive installations I encountered featured audio systems from Pro Audio Technology,” said Joaquin Rivera, ByDesign Vision & Sound founder. “With PRO, people can get an audio experience that far exceeds going to the movie theater, and I’m not just talking loud. I mean high SPLs that make you jump and move your pant legs but don’t stress your ears a bit. And it’s not just about performance, PRO products are extremely reliable and they offer white-glove support behind the scenes. This will be a great partnership.”

ByDesign Vision and Sound currently represents Pro Audio Technology, Runco/Planar, Stewart Filmscreen and Cinematech. For 15 years, Rivera focused on the need to educate customers on the science of screen technology, theater and projection in general. Selling value added products and building the heritage of the Stewart Filmscreen brand. The ByDesign group will also include Benito Joaquin, a colleague of Rivera’s for over 10 years at Stewart.

Rivera continued, “At Stewart, our trainings and dealer collateral was very much rooted in science, and we took the time to explain why our products outperformed the competitors in technical terms, not just with marketing claims. Paul Hales from Pro Audio Technology does the same thing with audio. He helps dealers understand why certain programming or setup decisions make sense in scientific terms instead of just making unsubstantiated claims about performance.”

ESP/SurgeX Adds IP Module for Digital Signage, Imaging and IT Power Products

The new IP module can be added to new or existing ESP/SurgeX energy management systems to capture important data and cycle power in real time.

Las Vegas, NV – InfoComm 2014 – June 18-20 – Booth C8725 – ESP/SurgeX, the leader in energy intelligence, is proud to announce the Remote Portal, a new module that brings IP connectivity to SurgeX Defender Series Surge+Diagnostic and MultiPak smart energy management systems as well as the ESP Envision Power Conditioning System (PCS). Integrators can now better understand and react to power problems through an IP connection.

ESP/SurgeX already has the industry’s best surge protection technology. Adding remote IP connectivity to its diagnostic software allows ESP/SurgeX integrators to instantly view the history of power quality events, monitor live data, download/upload reports, manage voltage thresholds, and diagnose power disturbances remotely. And because recorded and live power incidents are time stamped, integrators can isolate power quality issues chronologically to identify trends which may be causing disruptions or downtime.

Benchmarking has become a major focus area for facility managers seeking to justify the ROI of technology investments. To help with this process, the Remote Portal compiles and compares power disruption and usage data over a wide range of equipment locations and facilities to provide a cumulative or real-time view of power quality and energy consumption. For benchmarking purposes, the detailed logs and reports clearly demonstrate the improvement in power quality that results from integrating ESP/SurgeX products

“In the quest to maximize uptime and performance, remote troubleshooting and monitoring of power quality and energy usage is a priority,” said ESP/SurgeX president, Shannon Townley. “The Remote Console adds Internet connectivity to our industry leading surge protection and energy diagnostics equipment so integrators can quickly understand power issues, and correct them, without being onsite.”

SurgeX’s Remote Portal can be easily integrated with existing systems or implemented as part of a new installation. Both the MultiPak and Defender Series Surge + Diagnostic models provide professional-grade, Multi-Stage surge protection, EMI/RFI noise filtration, over/under voltage shutdown, first-of-its-kind Cat6 network protection, telephone line and wiring fault protection. The Surge + Diagnostic solution features customizable power protection settings and advanced data intelligence that helps integrators diagnose service calls proactively and keep short and long-term records of power quality. The MultiPak was made specifically for installation behind flat-panels displays and will fit naturally within common mounting mechanisms to protect valuable digital signage and video solutions.

The ESP/SurgeX Remote Portal will be available in Summer 2014, more information is available at www.SurgeX.com. You can also find ESP/SurgeX on Twitter and Facebook.

SurgeX Launches Defender Series MultiPak to Safeguard Multi-Panel Digital Displays and Signage

Engineered to address the specific noise interference and power protection needs of video wall arrays, the Defender Series MultiPak offers a compact design that easily integrates with wall and ceiling mounting systems.

Knightdale, NC – November 14, 2013 – ESP/SurgeX, the industry leader in energy intelligence and surge protection, is proud to announce the Defender Series MultiPak™, a Multi-Stage surge protector and power conditioner specifically designed to safeguard digital signage arrays. Available in four (SX-DS-154) and six (SX-DS-156) outlet configurations, the MultiPak provides advanced protection against damaging surges, spikes, over/under voltage, EMI/RFI noise, wiring faults, and other power issues that can degrade video display performance. The unit’s compact design fits behind multi-panel installations and easily integrates with wall and ceiling mount systems.

Developed in direct response to the challenges encountered by digital signage manufacturers, the MultiPak was engineered to keep digital displays running properly without interruption. Digital display systems rely heavily on sensitive integrated circuitry for optimal performance. Superior power protection should be a top priority and the MultiPak answers this need by safeguarding equipment from disturbances on video, data, and power lines that can result in fuzzy images, audio noise, and render equipment inoperable—leading to negative perceptions, reduced lifespan, downtime, and lost income.

From top to bottom, every specification in the MultiPak is geared toward keeping video wall arrays running without disruption. In addition to its Multi-Stage surge protection technology, the MultiPak includes other SurgeX patented technologies that contribute to longer product lifespans and better performance. COUVS® (Catastrophic Over/Under Voltage Shutdown) insures multi-panel displays will not sustain catastrophic damage from having too little or too much power voltage coming from the AC line. SurgeX ICE® (Inrush Current Elimination) technology with zero cross turn-on removes the need for time delay circuit breakers or startup sequencing. This allows displays, amplifiers, and other equipment to be powered all at once without worry of blowing a circuit breaker.

With its compact design, the MultiPak can be concealed from view and will fit naturally within common mounting mechanisms. The 15 Amp load rating is robust enough to handle the power delivery demands of multiple displays, all from a single unit.

“We listened to our customers and came up with a unique solution that offers all the surge protection and noise eliminating features needed to keep multi-panel displays working without disruption”, said Stephen F. Galloway, president and CEO ESP/SurgeX. “We’re confident the MultiPak will exceed the expectations of manufacturers and their customers.”

In addition, the Defender Series MultiPak includes state-of-the-art diagnostic software that enables technicians to easily troubleshoot and diagnose power related disturbances. It offers the ability to customize power protection settings, download time-stamped reports, and diagnose power related service calls proactively.

The all-inclusive MultiPak provides all of the tools needed to protect, manage, and analyze a business’s digital display investments. The SX-DS-154 and SX-DS-156 are currently shipping. To learn more about SurgeX, please visit www.surgex.com.
