Pro Audio Technology Announces V-Series Speakers

V stands for value as Pro Audio Technology unveils its most affordable full-range speakers to date.

Indianapolis, IN – CEDIA Expo 2012 – September 5-8 – Sound Room 5 – Pro Audio Technology (PRO), the leader in professional-grade loudspeaker and digital amplifier technology, today announced the new V-Series loudspeakers, designed to deliver the high-impact dynamics for which PRO is known, but at a more affordable price than ever before. Both new models, the SCRS-210v full-range loudspeaker and LFC-12v subwoofer, feature enclosures only 6-inch deep, making deployment of high-output systems in small rooms possible.

The two professional 10” woofers employed in the SCRS-210v create an astonishingly high sound pressure of 102dB with one watt of input and combined, can handle 300W of continuous power. Offering even higher sensitivity, the 1” annular-diaphragm compression driver produces 110dB-per-watt and delivers highs that are both detailed and extended, resulting in an effortless presentation that is both dynamic and life-like in scale. Striking the perfect balance of power and accuracy, the SCRS-210v fills nearly any space with cinema quality sound and concert caliber music without industrial-grade pricing or space requirements.

For added low frequency support, the companion LFC-12v subwoofer features a high-output 12” professional-grade woofer with huge 4” voice coil. With sensitivity rated at 96dB driven with one watt, and power handling up to 700W, the LFC-12v has no problem producing the bone-jarring explosions or visceral slam found in today’s high quality recordings, all from an enclosure only 6” deep.

“For every large theater brought to us, there are at least six to eight small theater projects with smaller budgets but with the same high levels of expectation,” said Paul Hales, Pro Audio Technology founder. “Using intelligent engineering and careful selection of components, we designed the V-Series to deliver the maximum quantity of high resolution sound for the minimum dollar spent.”

At only 14” wide and 6” deep, the SCRS-210v and LFC-12v have been designed for placement inside a 2×6 stud wall or behind the viewing screen for a clean and unobtrusive installation.

As with all PRO products, DSP processing is a must. When paired with the companion PMA amplifier / processor, advanced digital EQ can be applied to compensate for speaker positions near boundaries or for the effects of placement behind viewing screens or fabric. As a system, the PRO V-Series loudspeakers and PMA amplifiers provide a level of sonic accuracy unparalleled at the price.

“Dealers now have an option for price-conscious applications without having to sacrifice the commercial cinema caliber dynamics and output levels we built our business on,” Hales said.

Control4 Unveils New OS Capabilities at CEDIA Expo 2012

Control4 OS 2.3 release delivers new lighting experience and commercial applications – and optimizes performance and interoperability for residential and commercial installations.

Indianapolis, IN – CEDIA Expo Booth 4949 – September 6, 2012, 2012 at 8:00AM ET – Control4, a leading innovator in residential and light-commercial automation systems, unveiled today the next major update to its award-winning automation operating system. Control4® OS 2.3, set for release in Q4 2012, will deliver a host of enhancements including a new lighting user experience, new applications for light commercial installations, and feature enhancements to boost performance and interoperability.

“Control4 continues to enhance the consumer and dealer experience through the advancement of our automation platform,” said Martin Plaehn, Control4 CEO. “With the addition of new lighting, commercial and interoperability functionality, we continue to deliver solid, high-performance solutions to serve the needs of our dealers and our customers.”

Elegant, Sophisticated Lighting Experience
One of the key attributes of the new Control4 OS release is the introduction of a new, elegant user-experience for lighting. The clean, intuitive UI is available across all control interfaces, making it easy for consumers to control lighting throughout a residence or business from any on-screen device — TVs, Control4® touch screens, smart phones, and tablet devices. In addition to the visual design refinements, consumers will benefit from new personalization and editing capabilities, including the ability to easily edit and toggle between scenes and specific lighting, eliminating on-site dealer presence just to adjust settings when homeowners would like simple changes. Additionally, the new Preference Default function remembers what homeowners like and sets on-screen default values to those preferences delivering the personalized experience.

Control4’s new Advanced Lighting Scenes Agent will roll out with Control4 OS 2.3 and will help dealers program sophisticated lighting effects. The Lighting Scene Agent streamlines dealer programming with single-button on/off toggles for scenes, tracking and display of lighting scene states, and configuration of advanced scene ramping/fading with support of complex scene sequencing including delays between ramps/fades of different lighting zones — all from within the Control4® Composer system design software.

Supporting Commercial Installations
For authorized dealers with light commercial clients, OS 2.3 also adds a number of new capabilities:

• The enhanced Themes SDK enables user interface customization by dealers to thematically brand screens on Control4 displays (TV, touchscreens).
• The new Access Agent, which limits unauthorized access through password protection and hiding selective functions, provides business owners more controlled access to automated capability.
• The new FieldServer driver provides support for commercial HVAC systems through the FieldServer Technologies’ QuickServer Gateway enabling automation access to Delta Controls, GE, Honeywell, Johnson Controls, Mitsubishi, Rockwell and other thermostats over device networks including BACnet, Lonworks, Modbus, and more via serial, bus or TCP/IP.
• The new Tandberg driver extends Control4’s support for teleconference systems − supplementing existing support for Polycom and ClearOne.

Control4’s Commitment to Driving Interoperability
Control4 leads the industry in device discovery and interoperability and with OS 2.3 new tools have been added to simplify installation and programming for dealers. The new Control4® Driver Editor enables dealers and developers to create and test new drivers without requiring a full, onsite Control4 system up and running, making it much easier and more efficient to quickly design and develop drivers for third-party products.

OS 2.3 also includes support for Control4® Simple Device Discovery Protocol (SDDP), a groundbreaking new capability which will automatically identify and load the correct driver for Control4 devices, as well as an expanding roster of third-party devices. SDDP compatible devices will be automatically identified and configure themselves within Control4 installations and will remain connected with the Control4 system regardless of IP address changes.

“One of the unique capabilities and benefits Control4 introduced to the industry was the ability to easily and uniquely identify Control4 devices during a system installation by simply pressing a button on any Control4 device. Now, we are extending those benefits and simplicity to 3rd party products by providing them with open access to our SDDP software technology so they can embed it within their products to enable device discovery, model identification, and proper software driver association during Control4 installations — saving time and reducing the potential for errors” said Plaehn.

Control4 OS 2.3 will be available in Q4 2012.

Leaf Unveils Industry’s First 20×20 Matrix Switcher with 4 Local HDMI Outputs

omplete with an over 300 foot range and sixteen HDBaseT LTB1E remote breakout units, the LTHDMI2020E can receive audio and video from up to 52 potential sources enabling unprecedented whole-home A/V distribution

Indianapolis, IN – CEDIA Expo Booth 4949 – September 5, 2012 at 9:00 AM EST– Leaf, a custom brand of HD audio/video distribution and switching solutions, announces the powerful LTHDMI2020E, the industry’s first 20×20 matrix switcher with 4 HDMI and 16 HDBaseT outputs.

Unlike other switchers on the market, the LTHDMI2020E features four, back-panel HDMI outputs for in-rack or in-room video and audio connectivity. Sixteen HDBaseT LTB1E remote breakout units can receive audio and video from up to 52 potential sources, plus control data and Ethernet connectivity, up to 100m/328ft away.

In addition to 20, full-1080p HDMI 1.4 inputs, there are 16 SPDIF (coax) digital audio and 16 analog audio outputs that enable the centralized racking of power amplifiers while eliminating the need for a separate audio switcher. Sixteen bi-directional IR ports, plus RS-232, allow passing of control signals to remote devices, all while a sleek front-panel touchscreen makes setup a breeze.

To minimize EDID errors, the Zone Lock feature provides the ability to lock a source to a particular zone. Locking the source to the zone allows the passage of specific EDID data ensuring that the display and source correctly interact. This is useful in systems where only certain displays are possible, for example, 3D, or where locking out a certain source from other zones is desired.

“This is the industry’s first 20×20 switcher with local HDMI connectivity and inbuilt audio matrix switching,” said Dean Vaughan, Director Sales & Marketing of Leaf Audio. “With the ever-growing demands of whole home HD video, our 2020E offers unparalleled connectivity and features for even the most complex custom install project.”

The LTHDMI2020E will start shipping at the end of September and will be available through Control4 dealers for $15000.00, plus $350 per LTB1E breakout unit.

AVocation Systems 8×8 HDMI, 16×16 Audio Matrix is AV Distribution Powerhouse

AVocation Systems HDMI Matrix Masters AV Switching Issues

Designed for demanding audio set-ups, the new HX-0808HA/16 HDMI matrix offers simultaneous or independent routing and key/EDID management for fast, reliable HDMI and audio switching.

HDMI Matrix

Indianapolis, IN – CEDIA Expo 2012 – September 5-8 – Booth 5734 – AVocation Systems, Inc., a leading developer and manufacturer of professional grade audio/video distribution products, announces the Mountain Series 8×8 HDMI with 16×16 Analog/Digital Audio Matrix (HX-0808HA/16). The HX-0808HA/16 is the first digital matrix from AVocation Systems to include sixteen independently routable analog and digital audio inputs and outputs with volume control.

Living rooms, kitchens, media rooms, offices and even outdoor spaces require enhanced HDMI connectivity options as homeowners request the same content in every room, without performance loss. Reliable HDMI switching and routing is critical to meeting this demand. The new HX-0808HA/16 delivers whether an end user is watching one source but listening to another or routing a single source to multiple displays.

“Limitations are frustrating when you just want to enjoy music or video without interruption,” said AVocation Systems marketing manager Trent Mulligan. “Like with all our HDMI matrix products and accessories, we set out to create a reliable solution for common installer problems, while giving end users the functionality they crave. HDMI and audio switching may not be the flashiest technology, but people sure notice when it’s not working properly.”

Each of the eight HDMI, 16 analog audio (RCA), and 16 digital audio (RCA) inputs and outputs can be simultaneously or independently routed, providing enough distribution flexibility for the most demanding AV set-ups. The product’s internal management of HDCP keys and EDID’s ensures reliable and low latency switch times. The AVocation Systems matrix also takes signals from single key cable boxes out to multiple displays, not just one, a common failure of many matrix routers.

AVocation System’s Mountain Series 8×8 HDMI with 16×16 Analog/Digital is compatible with HDMI 1.4 and has support for 3-D content, all while providing up to 36-bit deep color with resolutions up to 1080p 60Hz pixel rates (225 MHz). Control options are IP, RS-232, USB, and Infrared. HDCP 1.1 compliant, the matrix is rack mountable (ears included) and consumes two rack units. AVocation Systems is also an ISPCS Plugfest Participant with a demonstrated commitment to interoperability.

AVocation’s bold shipping policy for The Mountain Series line of HDMI products includes a five-year advanced replacement warranty as well as a 100% money back guarantee. All products are made in the USA.

Pro Audio Technology Quad-Amplified, Seven Foot Tall SCR-3215sm Loudspeaker

Pro Audio Technology LoudspeakersWith dual 15-inch, 1400W woofers and a maximum output of >130dB; what started as an exercise to push loudspeaker performance limits is now a reality for audio and home theater enthusiasts.

Huntington Beach, CA – July 24, 2012 – Pro Audio Technology (PRO), the leader in loudspeakers and DSP-programmable amplifier systems for residential properties, today announced the SCR-3215sm loudspeaker, a seven foot tall, 350 pound four-way reference speaker designed for placement behind acoustically transparent screens. The culmination of more than 25 years in high-performance loudspeaker design by lifelong loudspeaker designer and PRO founder Paul Hales, the 3215 is truly a statement product.

Starting with the drivers, Pro Audio Technology went big, opting for dual 15-inch, 1400W woofers which offer a low frequency sensitivity of 102dB with one watt of input power. With over 350 square inches of surface area supported by a massive 30 pound motor system, the 3215 moves a lot of air to produce highly impactful bass. With four-inch voice coils, thermal power handling is maximized, allowing the SCR-3215sm to play at live concert sound pressure levels for extended periods of time without fear of driver failure.

At the heart of the SCR-3215sm’s mid/high frequency assembly is a 41-pound ultra high-output (114dB / 1 watt) compression driver. Its seven-inch carbon fiber diaphragm provides pistonic motion over three and one half octaves, resulting in the most effortless, coherent, and dynamically correct rendering of vocals and instrumentation possible. Dispersion and acoustic power transfer are controlled via a constant directivity horn with over 800 square inches of effective radiating surface – more than 40 times the radiating area of a typical cone midrange.

Upper-mid and high frequencies for the SCR-3215sm are supplied via a state-of-the-art coaxial compression driver utilizing an annular polymer diaphragm for silky smooth midrange and treble and uncolored harmonics to beyond 30 kHz. Mated to a large format 18” x 22” horn, the high frequency system provides 396 square inches of radiating surface to drive the air; or the equivalent of more than 500 one-inch dome tweeters per speaker. As in commercial cinema systems, the SCR-3215sm mid/high frequency assembly employs tri-amplification to maximize the performance of each driver in the system.

When paired with companion PMA Amplifiers the SCR-3215sm speakers are part of a sophisticated digital cinema system employing advanced DSP to redefine the industry’s concept of “accuracy” and sonic realism. Maximum output is >130 dB, making the SCR-3215 the definitive loudspeaker of choice for large to very large room applications, and those who desire a visceral concert experience in their home. Because they are designed to perform behind transparent screens at “Reference Levels” from more than 12 meters away, the 3215’s are also ideal for home theater installations.

“I designed my first loudspeaker when I was 16 and have never stopped looking for ways to improve speaker technology,” said Paul Hales, founder of Pro Audio Technology. “The 3215 loudspeaker started as a laboratory experiment to see how far we could push the limits of audio performance, and now it’s a reality with orders already in place. Our dealers can’t wait to let customers hear them in person.”

The New Linear VMC1 Video Security Intercom System Safeguards What Matters Most

With live video, whole-home intercom, trigger mechanisms and remote monitoring, homeowners now have a single system for centralized security at home or away.

Carlsbad, CA – June 2012 – Linear LLC, the leader in residential and commercial access control, emergency response and security solutions, announces the new Linear® VMC1 Video Security Intercom System, a centralized security solution that delivers live video, audio, whole-home intercom, door releases, alarm triggers, and remote monitoring features in one highly-capable and flexible system.

The VMC1 Master Station is the central hub of the system and has a 5.6″ color video screen that can monitor any door equipped with a camera. Traditional security systems with multiple camera stations can be difficult to monitor since the homeowner isn’t always available or in front of a screen when someone rings the doorbell. With integrated live video support, the VMC1 System provides access to up to three color video cameras or video door stations, allowing users to view activities inside and out from the master station, or with optional accessories, from a TV display, or select portable devices. When not at home, the VMC1 System can also deliver a live video signal or email a snapshot picture of the front door visitor to a smart phone or computer via the internet for quick identification.

In addition, from the VMC1 Master Station, music can be shared with any room station, either from the AM/FM tuner or from auxiliary devices such as MP3 players or smart phones. While all room stations allow room-to-room or whole-home communication, the Master Station video screen allows users to speak with and see visitors at monitored doors. The system can support up to three remote electronic door release mechanisms to unlock a door or gate and has two control output switches to turn on lights, trigger an alert on an alarm panel or even activate thermostat controls. By combining visual monitoring with the ability to enact a security response in the home, the VMC1 is a serious deterrent and one of the most sophisticated video security intercom systems available.

With all the security and control functionality, one might overlook the whole-home intercom functionality of the Linear VMC1. Seeking to address a range of communication needs, the intercom enables users to speak to a single room, a group of rooms or the whole house (up to 20 rooms). Whether you’re telling the kids to get ready for bed, calling houseguests for dinner or using the system to make a company-wide announcement in a small office, the VMC1 initiates hands-free conversations to any room station. One or more rooms can also be monitored or kept private, depending on preferences.

The new VMC1 Video Security Intercom System comes in handsome white, black or bronze finishes to complement any décor.
