Bauder Audio Puts NEXO GEO S, NEXO RS18 to the Test

BUENA PARK, Calif.—For more than 30 years, Richard Bauder has provided audio production services to the greater Philadelphia area. Recently, Bauder Audio Systems added to its audio arsenal extensive quantities of NEXO line array products, including 22 GEO S1210, two GEO S1230, eight of the new RS18 Ray Subs, and six NX4x4 amplifiers.

ME For Breakout Artist Jason Derulo Uses Yamaha PM5D

BUENA PARK, Calif.—With his knack for infectious hooks, Florida vocalist Jason Derulo built his reputation as a prolific soul and rap songwriter, scribing tracks for artists ranging from Lil Wayne to Pleasure P. This past year, Derulo has been riding high with three smash hit singles, “Whatcha Say,? “In My Head,? and “Ridin’ Solo,? off his self-titled debut album.

Completing his first leg of his North American tour in mid-November, Derulo, needing a monitor engineer/audio crew chief for the tour, enlisted the assistance of Billy Flores, ME to pop stars such as Eminem, Black Eyed Peas, Erykah Badu, and Taio Cruz. Advanced Audio Deploys Yamaha Console with Dante Card to Riverfront Amphitheatre

BUENA PARK, Calif.—Advanced Audio and Lighting Systems, Inc. of Peoria, Illinois is using one of the first Dante MY16-AUD cards developed by Audinate for Yamaha with an M7CL-48 digital audio console at the historic CEFCU Center Stage at The Landing in Peoria. The amphitheatre seats 2,500 with wide-ranging events from national acts MOE, Government Mule, REO Speedwagon, The Doobie Brothers, Allison Krauss, Bela Fleck to regional acts, and ethnic festivals such as OktoberFest and Irish Fest.

The Dante card is providing connectivity from front of house to house left and right, in fills and out fills, and separate monitor mixes when a side stage monitor console is not deployed. A tablet PC running Yamaha Studio Manager (and soon to be an iPad running the new Yamaha StageMix App) enables engineers to provide quality control over the monitor system, cost savings in manpower, and added equipment rentals.

Yamaha Commercial Audio Holds ‘5 Days of Knowledge’

College Park, Md.—Yamaha Commercial Audio Systems, Inc. will hold a training week entitled ‘5 Days of Knowledge’ on the campus of the University of Maryland, Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center, December 6 – Friday, December 10. The week will encompass training seminars and speaker demonstrations. The University is located on Stadium Drive in College Park, MD.

On Monday, December 6 from 9:00 am – Noon, private speaker demos will be held at the Key Theatre. For an appointment, attendees must email Doug Staab, Yamaha District Manager, dstaab@yamaha.com. From 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm, open speaker demos will be held for general, walk-in attendees. To attend the afternoon session, register by emailing the above.

Yamaha Releases M7CLv3.5 and File Converter Software

BUENA PARK, Calif.—Yamaha Commercial Audio Systems, Inc. has announced the winter 2010 release of M7CLv3.5 and File Converter software application. The File Converter application, available for both Mac OS and Windows platforms, converts file formats between PM5D and M7CL as well as M7CL and LS9 consoles, providing data compatibility between consoles. A PM5D or LS9, for example, can be brought in to replace an M7CL, using mix data originally created on the M7CL. The File Converter function will also convert parameters for multiple scenes (including HA and Ch Name).

Palmetto Sound Outfits Taylors First Baptist Church with Yamaha Systems Solution

BUENA PARK, Calif.—Taylors First Baptist Church in Taylors, South Carolina was chartered and established in 1864. The ‘u-shaped’ sanctuary seats approximately 2,100, and with two services on Sunday mornings, the church serves a congregation of 3,000. Recently, Palmetto Sound Works of Spartanburg, S.C. was contracted to perform an upgrade to their existing audio system originally installed in 1995. About four years ago, the audio contractor performed a partial upgrade that included a Yamaha M7CL-48 digital audio console.
